Many teenagers spend most free time on short videos and pay little attention to the old history around their hometown. However, a group of Grade 9 students in Sichuan set a good example for other young people.
The students set up a school history club last spring. Their main job is to record local old stories and save disappearing small-town memories. Every weekend, they visit old houses, talk with elderly villagers and take photos of stone bridges that date back to the Ming Dynasty. They write down all warm old stories so that the town’s past won’t disappear completely.
At first, most elders refused to share their memories. They thought teenagers cared nothing about old days. The teens prepared small notebooks and drew simple pictures to help elders describe old life easily. Gradually, more elders opened up and told stories of old festivals, handicrafts and childhood games.
The club’s collection of stories is well worth reading. They made a handwritten book filled with photos and stories and shared it on the school website. It was such a popular book that all teachers and students read it in their spare time. The local town museum even kept one copy for public display.

When I was in primary school, my school was like a big family. There were only 50 students in total, and everyone knew each other. We had no modern teaching equipment—no computers, no projectors. Our teachers used chalk and blackboards to teach us. We played games on the playground during breaks: skipping rope, playing hide-and-seek, or flying kites. After school, we usually walked home together, chatting and laughing along the way.
Now, my old primary school has changed a lot. It has a new teaching building with five floors. Each classroom has a computer and a smart whiteboard. There is a big library with thousands of books, a science lab, and a music room. The playground is now a modern sports field with a running track. Students can play basketball, football, or do other sports there. However, some things haven’t changed. The teachers are still kind and caring, and students still help each other.

Living history
Figures wearing ancient clothes walked out of Dunhuang wall paintings during a popular online Hanfu show in 2021. The performance showed ancient Chinese fashion in a vivid way. Reading history from textbooks is one way, but watching history come alive is a totally different experience.
Nowadays, many creative methods help people get close to ancient history. Technology plays an important role here. The painting Along the River During the Qingming Festival dates back over 900 years. It used to be a quiet work hung in the Palace Museum. Today, large digital screens turn it into a lively ancient town: visitors can see walking horses, moving boats and busy townsfolk, and feel like they are living in that old time.
Cultural relics also enter daily life through museum creative goods. The Palace Museum designs scarves, bags and fridge magnets with traditional dragon and cloud patterns. Products like these make teenagers willing to know more about history, and people take pride in carrying cultural symbols around.
The past passing by shapes who we are today. Only when we understand history well can we walk towards the future with confidence. Modern creative methods connect ancient times with our modern life.

根据亲眼目睹展品景象,can not believe my eyes为固定常用搭配,应选用eyes。
根据so+形容词+that句型,空后bright是形容词,需要用so修饰,应选用so。
依据句型so+形容词(lifelike)+that,lifelike为形容词,应选用so。
as、so、such无法构成该固定短语。
