Warm-up
Is it normal for teenagers to experience mood swings Why or why not Let’s read the text and find out.
Teen mood swings
Mood swings—rapid mood change—are common and normal for teenagers. Teenagers experience mood swings for a number of reasons. During teenage years, the parts of the brain mature at different rates. The part of the brain that is responsible for emotions and feelings develops early, while the part of the brain that regulates the control of emotions develops later. As a result, teenagers tend to experience extreme emotions and are generally less able to manage their emotions. This causes mood swings. In addition, teenagers face a lot of pressure. Study stress, peer pressure, high expectations from teachers and parents, and worries about the future—all these things play a role in their changing moods.
Tips to cope with bad feelings:
Take a deep breath and go out for a walk when you feel really bad.
Regular exercise is a good way to deal with stress.
Write about your feelings in a journal or talk to someone you trust.
If bad feelings last for a long time, talk to your parents or your teacher. It’s perfectly normal to seek help.

Because the emotional part of the brain develops early, while the control part develops later.
How can we deal with mood swings
We can take a deep breath and go out for a walk, exercise regularly, write about our feelings in a journal or talk to someone we trust, or ask for help from our parents or teachers.
Think and discuss
Have you ever experienced mood swings What do you think caused them
Which tip in the text do you think is the most useful Why
How else can teenagers cope with difficult feelings
If you’ve been feeling bad for a long time, who would you turn to for help Why
Think about your problems or worries and write them down on a piece of paper. Don’t write your name on the paper. Fold the paper and put it in a box.
Sharing your suggestions on teenage problems
Each student chooses a problem from the box and writes a suggestion for a solution.
Tips:
Analyse the problem before giving advice.
Think about what the person could do or how he / she could think differently about the problem.
Make sure your advice is practical and realistic.
Sharing your suggestions on teenage problems
Share your problems and suggestions in groups. Do you think the suggestion is helpful Can you think of any ways to improve it If you can think of another suggestion, add it.
Tips:
Try to support your ideas with examples (e.g. your own experiences). This will make your advice more convincing.
Sometimes, you can also base your advice on statistics, scientific articles or other reliable sources.
Sharing your suggestions on teenage problems
Post the problems and suggestions on the class noticeboard. Then give a short presentation to explain the problem and your advice.
Tips:
Ask your classmates to raise their hands if they have experienced similar problems.
Ask them to take notes on the assessment form while listening.
Encourage them to share their opinions, ask questions, or offer additional suggestions after your presentation.
