61-year-old Kevin Daniels,a rancher (牧场主),grew up near Norfolk.Having spent most of his life outdoors doing what he loves,Kevin never thought that one day he wouldn't be able to.April 26,2023 started as a normal day.Kevin was getting ready to feed some cattle when he noticed a problem.“I just didn't have the strength in my hands for some reason,” he said.Soon he was diagnosed (诊断) with Guillain-Barr? syndrome,a condition where the immune system (免疫系统) attacks and destroys nerves.
Kevin was determined to return to the ranch again after the operation, but being wheelchair-bound posed some difficulties.“We tried to deal with all of these things, but there was nowhere to go,nowhere to start. When we finally visited Emily,it was just like there was a weight lifted from my shoulders,” Kevin's wife Jacque said.
Emily Jacobson is the manager for the Nebraska AgrAbility program. She said the program helps people stay in agriculture.“Since 1995,the program has provided resources to agricultural producers with disabilities or disabling conditions.”
Through the program, the Daniels have received a lift and a modified (改装的) side-by-side.The side-by-side has been especially helpful for Kevin getting around the property. It has a modified sliding passenger seat that easily helps lift Kevin into the vehicle.“It's put us back to where we're basically living a normal life.As normal as we can get with what is going on,” Jacque said.Additionally, the Daniels have formed a family-like relationship with AgrAbility during the process. When the Daniels meet with difficulties,AgrAbility will turn up instantly.
Since the start of the program, over 600 Nebraskans have been served. However, there are still others to be reached.“There are over 10,000 farmers and ranchers in the state that have disabilities or disabling health conditions. So we have a really far way to go to get all of those,” said Emily.
1.What happened to Kevin on April 26,2023
A.He caught a sudden illness.
B.He was forced to sell his ranch.
C.He had to have a major operation.
D.He hurt his hands while tending his cattle.
根据第一段中的“April 26, 2023 started as a normal day ...Soon he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome”可知,2023年4月26日那天,Kevin正准备喂牛,忽然他感觉双手无力。
2.How has the AgrAbility program helped Kevin
A.By giving him free training in ranching.
B.By supplying him with agricultural tools.
C.By offering mobility aids to him.
D.By supporting him financially.
根据第四段中的“Through the program, the Daniels have received ...lift Kevin into the vehicle.”
3.What does Emily expect of the program
A.It will create jobs for the disabled.
B.It will work with local organizations.
C.It will expand its service further.
D.It will prioritize remote residents.
4.What can be the best title for the text
A.Nebraska AgrAbility: Technology Boosts Agriculture
B.Accessibility in Agriculture:AgrAbility Provides Hope
C.A Rancher's Lonely Battle with Guillain-Barré
D.A Success Story of a Disabled Rancher

Recently, I had a memorable offline communication experience. I joined a community volunteer activity where I met a girl named Lily. At first, we were a bit shy, but as we worked together to clean the park and help the elderly, we gradually opened up. We shared our dreams, fears and daily stories, and a deep friendship was formed.
In the age of social media, I've come to realise that real friendship isn't just about likes and comments online. True connections are built through face-to-face interactions, sharing real emotions and experiences. It's these in-person moments that create lasting bonds.
(2026·连云港市高三联考)Sheldon Cooper, a nine-year-old boy with a great mind, found himself in a difficult situation. His favourite scientific tool had broken, and replacing it required a large amount of money. His mother politely said, “If you want it, you will have to earn it yourself.” So, Sheldon started what he called “The Money Project” — using science to do the everyday job of delivering newspapers.
As he had planned, Sheldon's method was special. He spent days doing research. He studied the weight of the newspaper, planned the best delivery route using maps, and even found the best throwing angle for each house. His planning board was covered in notes and drawings, looking more like a complex puzzle than a simple job plan.
On his first Monday, he left home with his prepared basket. The first challenge appeared immediately: the family bicycle was too large for him. After three failed attempts to ride it, he decided to walk, pulling the basket of newspapers behind him. But the basket was so heavy that he soon felt too tired to continue. He quickly thought of a solution. Using an old board, four wheels from broken toys, and some rope, he built a simple home-made cart. Now he could pull the papers easily.
Then, the weather, Sheldon had assumed clear weather, turned out different from his forecasts. A light rain began to fall. Sheldon immediately covered the newspaper basket with the plastic he had prepared. This simple action prevented what could have been a real problem.
Despite these little episodes (小插曲), his first deliveries were perfect, and he felt pleased. The final challenge came at 17th Elm Street. His goal was the welcome mat, but a large, sleeping dog was lying right on top of it. Sheldon knew getting closer was too dangerous. From where he stood, he could not throw the paper properly. He stood still, his carefully made plan falling apart before this unexpected problem.

After a moment of panic, Sheldon's scientific mind took over. Noticing the low fence beside the steps, he quickly calculated the distance and the required throwing angle. He rolled the newspaper into a tight tube. With a precise underhand throw, he sent the paper sliding smoothly along the fence. It traveled in a perfect bend around the sleeping dog and came to rest right at the front door. A small smile appeared on his face as he continued his route, the crisis expertly solved through physics.
Weeks later, “The Money Project” finally paid off. Sheldon placed his carefully saved money on the counter, receiving the long-wanted scientific tool. His mother's eyes met his, shining with pride. As he held the tool, happiness filled him—not just for having it, but for earning it. This experience brought him a greater prize: strong belief in his own mind and the knowledge that some fortunes are earned not with money, but with effort and intellect. This was the real treasure, one that would only grow with time.
