本文讲述陕西农民石光银自 1984 年起抓住机遇、与村民合作在沙漠植树，四十余年抗击沙漠扩张的故事：第一年许多树成活、土地变绿，但数年后沙尘暴毁掉大部分幼树；他不放弃，向专家请教、学习世界各地成功经验，从头再来，创办治沙公司并带领人们设置防护带，更多树木成活，村民也增加了收入。2021 年他荣获“七一勋章”，但他并未止步于荣誉，而是认为需要年复一年继续努力。
