A Gen Z train attendant in China has gained widespread praise for his creative approach to keeping children calm and entertained during long train rides-by handing out test papers and stickers(贴画).
Qin Yunhao, who works on the G1546 high-speed train from Nanning East to Hangzhou West, brings along a plastic bag filled with simple worksheets and colorful reward stickers every time he's on duty. His idea is simple but effective: children who become noisy during the journey are gently handed a test paper, and upon completing it, are rewarded with stickers. Meanwhile, children who remain quiet throughout the ride are given stickers directly as a form of positive reinforcement(强化).
The idea, which started during the summer travel rush, has received overwhelming support from parents and netizens. Many praised it for turning a potentially noisy carriage(车厢) into a peaceful environment, while also giving children something meaningful to do during the journey.
The inspiration came from observing parents who brought homework for their children on board. Wanting to help those who hadn't come prepared, Qin began printing out simple exercises to share.
This low-cost but thoughtful solution has been described as a “magical fix”, as it eases pressure on parents, entertains young passengers, and helps maintain order in a public space. It's also seen as a reflection of growing human-centered innovation in public service.
Qin's fellow railway staff have also adopted various child-friendly practices. Some bring picture books or small toys, others create “kids' kits” with puzzles and games. On certain trains, a children's activity area has even been set up in the dining car. Railway staff also encourage parents to prepare entertainment in advance, such as downloading cartoons or bringing educational games, to help children enjoy the ride calmly and constructively.
Balancing children's natural liveliness with public order is no easy task. But initiatives like this show that thoughtful, human-centered solutions can go a long way toward creating more harmonious public spaces.
24. What does Qin Yunhao do to keep children quiet on the train
A. He sets up activity areas. B. He provides books and toys.
C. He gives out test papers and stickers. D. He downloads cartoons and games.
25. What made Qin Yunhao decide to hand out worksheets
A. He hoped to make the summer rush more fun.
B. He wanted to protect children's natural liveliness.
C. He was required to create more harmonious public areas.
D. He saw some parents unprepared for their kids' homework.
26. What do people think of Qin Yunhao's solution
A. It fits the summer rush. B. It is expensive but effective.
C. It makes carriages peaceful. D. It puts pressure on parents and kids.
27. What is the best title for the text
A. Railway Activities for Kids. B. Ways to Play with Kids on Trains.
C. Harmonious Summer Travel. D. A Train Attendant's Idea to Calm Kids.

The willingness to learn from failures is very important. And there are certainly many people who have overcome failures on their way to success. However, there are still a couple of questions about failures that are worth delving into. Do most people actually learn from failures Why or why not
These questions were studied in 2024 by Lauren Eskreis-Winkler and Minhee Kim. They started by exploring whether people overestimated(高估) the likelihood that someone who had failed would succeed on their next attempt.
In one experiment, the researchers asked participants to estimate the chance that someone who had taken an exam to become a lawyer, nurse, or teacher and failed would pass on the next attempt. This question was interesting, because the actual rates of success were already known (35% for lawyers, 43% for nurses, and 48% for teachers). But in each case, the participants significantly overestimated the likelihood that someone retesting would pass (58% for lawyers, 63% for nurses, and 67% for teachers).
In another experiment, they asked the participants to predict the likelihood that a heart attack survivor would make positive changes in their behavior. Without any additional information, they predicted that 62% of survivors would change their behavior. But the actual percentage was 47%.
These experiments suggest that the typical opinion about learning from failures needs some revision. As shown in the study, we often confuse what is with what ought to be. Yes, we ought to learn from failures. But often we don't because it is too painful for us to analyze and learn from our failures. So when we fail to achieve our goals, it is necessary for us to recognize that without significant effort to change our behavior, we are likely to fail again in the future.
28. What does the author mean by “delving into” in paragraph 1
A. Exploring. B. Recommending. C. Forgetting. D. Confusing.
29. What are the statistics in the text mainly about
A. People can't learn from their failures.
B. Failures' benefits might be overvalued.
C. It is very painful for us to face our failures.
D. Some people can learn more from their failures.
30. Why do most of us fail to learn from our failures
A. Very little help is available for us. B. We are unaware of the problems.
C. The consequences are not serious. D. It is hard to change our behavior.
31. What is the author's purpose in writing the text
A. To introduce a rare phenomenon. B. To review a recent study.
C. To argue against a typical opinion. D. To show human weakness.
D
Warming seas across the globe are endangering coral reefs (珊瑚礁), a key ecosystem that supports marine life to live and thrive. As a possible way to save them from extinction (灭绝), scientists have recently frozen and revived groups of adult corals for the first time, according to a recent study.
Freezing biological materials, or “cryopreserving” them, refers to keeping them in a deep freeze for long periods without affecting the cell's viability (活性), according to the Science Times website.
This method usually cools them to very low temperatures, commonly to -196℃. Since cells would normally die at such a low temperature due to the formation of ice inside, scientists need to monitor the freezing rate and choose the freezing medium carefully.
Researchers in the US experimented with freezing pea-sized pieces of a common coral in Hawaii. After removing the microbes(微生物) on the corals, they sealed the corals in metal containers filled with a chemical solution that partially dehydrated (脱水) them and helped control ice growth.
When the corals reached a temperature of around -200℃, the remaining water in the corals solidified into a glassy form. The corals were still alive, with their life-driving functions becoming extremely slow. After being cryopreserved for a few minutes, the researchers pulled the corals out and placed them in warm water. In two minutes, they started consuming oxygen — a sign of them staying alive.
Previously, researchers had already successfully cryopreserved coral larvae(幼虫), according to a study in 2018. However, the larvae can only be collected when corals lay eggs, which happens just a few nights each year. “That’s putting a lot of eggs in one basket,” US marine scientist Liza Roger told Science News.
This breakthrough offers more hope to the world's corals, said Roger. However, there's more work to be done. A few days after thawing (解冻), the corals became “stressed out” from the process and were killed by the bacteria they normally live in harmony with. The researchers are working on using antibiotics to help them survive for a longer period of time.
32. What is the purpose of the recent study
A. To bring dead corals back to life. B. To freeze and revive coral larvae.
C. To find a way to preserve corals. D. To study the conditions of coral growth.
33. What happened to the corals when they were cryopreserved
A. They died for the time being. B. Their life functions slowed down.
C. They remained alive and unchanged. D. They fed on microbes in the containers.
34. What does Roger think about cryopreserving coral larvae
A. It is not a reliable solution. B. It needs a large number of eggs.
C. It holds promise for restoring corals. D. It requires overly expensive technology.
35. What issue do the researchers still need to approach
A. Finding a suitable freezing medium. B. Identifying the bacteria on the corals.
C. Expanding the collection of coral larvae. D. Maintaining the corals' health after thawing.

In today's digital age, artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly complicated, making it hard to tell AI-generated images from real ones created by humans. 36.
Examine pixel (像素) patterns
AI-generated images may exhibit distinct pixel patterns that differ from those found in photographs or hand-drawn images. 37. , showing excessive detail and precision. Analyzing the pixel patterns can help identify the digital artifacts or repetitive patterns that are commonly associated with AI-generated visuals.
Check abnormal features
AI-generated images often exhibit abnormalities in hands, such as extra fingers. Since hands are less central in images than faces, accurate description poses a challenge for AI. Other things like stretchy wrists in images mean they are probably AI-created. 38. , while others generated by newer AI models are harder to distinguish.
Notice overly perfect textures
Some AI image generators produce textures that are excessively smooth or plastic-looking skin. 39. . Rather than looking like a material that has some wrinkles in it, the images generated by AI models might come out a little too good. So if you want to buy clothes in an online clothes shop, check the given pictures through this detail.
40. ____________________
Now AI-based image recognition systems are capable of identifying everything in images. AI may struggle to generate realistic settings or situational information that accurately reflects the real world. With closer inspection of the background or more specific analysis of the accompanying text, which doesn't fit with the visual content, you may detect these AI-generated pieces.
A. Detect the real world
B. Assess background and context
C. This means that a jacket may appear too nice
D. AI-generated images tend to show imperfect images
E. Some of these errors are easily noticeable to humans
F. They often have an unmistakably artificial appearance

42-year-old Christine Dawn King has worked at a pet hospital for 10 years. She is a pet doctor and loves working with pets. As she is warm-hearted and professional, pet owners living in the neighbourhood also love to ask her to treat their pets.
One Thursday morning, Christine was hurrying to her job. The traffic on the road was thick — no surprise for this stretch of highway. She pulled into the exit lane(车道), where cars were moving at a slow speed.
That was when Christine noticed a woman standing near cars with a dog beside her. Christine saw the cause of the traffic jam: The small dog had somehow gotten out of the car and was now stuck in the metal fences(栅栏) in the middle of the highway. The little dog was obviously frightened in the small space, unable to break free. Despite its owner's best efforts, it was still struggling.
The woman caught the dog's collar(项圈)but couldn't move him. Her hands were shaking, and her face was covered with sweat. She was obviously very panicked, not knowing what to do. Some drivers impatiently honked their horns(摁喇叭). Others were too focused on their own schedules to offer assistance. Christine could see the anxiety on the woman's face as she looked around.
Without hesitation, Christine opened the car door. She quickly walked towards the dog. “Let me see if I can help,” Christine said to the woman. The woman was a little hesitant but still walked aside to allow the stranger to have a try. Christine carefully checked on the situation. She found that the dog was scared, but not injured. She spoke gently to the dog, trying to calm him down. Next, she took out a tool carried with her car and tried her best to widen the gap between the fences. The dog seemed to realize that Christine was here to help him, not struggling anymore.
In no time, the gap between the fences became larger. There was enough space to move the dog. Christine gently lifted him out, taking great care not to hurt him.
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
The woman stepped forward and carefully held the dog.

第一节 (满分15分)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am Li Hua, a senior two student, writing to propose/suggest making the traditional festival, the Double Ninth Festival, a national holiday.
First and foremost, the Double Ninth Festival holds great significance in Chinese culture, focusing on respecting the elderly. If it becomes a national holiday, more people will spare more time to stay with older family members, which can help us learn to be filial and get closer to the older generation — something really important for our society. Moreover, by celebrating traditional festivals like the Double Ninth Festival, we can preserve our cultural heritage and pass it on to future generations. It is a way to keep our culture alive and uphold our traditions.
I would appreciate it if you could give approval to my proposal. Looking forward to your positive reply.
Yours,
Li Hua
The woman stepped forward and carefully held her dog. She thanked Christine heartily for what she had done, with tears rolling down her cheeks. She said that without Christine’s generous help, everything would have been much worse. Christine introduced herself, and gave the woman her business card, saying she could take the dog to her pet hospital for a checkup if she still felt worried. The woman took the card and walked to her car. After the woman’s car moved away, the traffic quickly returned to normal.
Christine arrived at her office, expecting to see the woman again. In the afternoon, she saw the woman walking into the hospital with the dog and a bouquet of flowers as her gift. The woman told Christine that the dog was important to her, hoping everything would be OK with her dog. After a thorough examination of the dog, Christine told the woman the dog was fine. Hearing Christine’s words, the woman felt grateful and totally relieved. It struck Christine that kindness, though tiny, could make a big difference to the world around us.

W: Good morning, everyone. As we approach August, I’d like to take a moment to talk about our upcoming holiday break. As you all know, the four-week holiday in August is a long-standing tradition here in Spain, so we will be observing it again this year.
From August 1st, our shop will be closed, and all of you will have the opportunity to relax and recharge. I understand that this long break may cause financial concerns, so I want to assure you that you will still receive 75% of your regular pay during the holiday. Additionally, there will be a winter award in cash later this year to help cover any extra expenses you might have during the holiday. We were supposed to open the door on September 1st, but I plan to put it off by one day.
Once we open, I hope each of you will focus on refreshing the shop’s design. The current design is holding us back. We must act quickly to stay competitive. And we’ll introduce a few new collections and work on increasing our visibility in the community to attract more customers.
Thank you all for your hard work. Let’s come back ready to make September a great month!
