A
On 25 September 2026, Chinese teenage sprinter Chen Yujie created a historic moment at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. In the women's 100-metre final, the 17-year-old athlete stormed to victory in 11.06 seconds, taking the gold medal and smashing the 24-year-old Asian Games record of 11.15 seconds set by Sri Lanka's Susanthika Jayasinghe in 2002.
What makes Chen's victory even more remarkable is her mental strength. Facing top sprinters from across the continent, Chen was the youngest runner in the final. "I was under great pressure before stepping onto the track," she admitted. "However, my coach told me that the only opponent you truly need to beat is yourself."
From the moment the starting gun sounded, Chen demonstrated exceptional technique. Her reaction time was lightning-fast, and her transition from drive phase to upright sprinting was virtually flawless. By the 70-metre mark, she had established a clear lead. Despite a late surge from her competitors, Chen held her form and powered across the finish line.
"This gold medal proves that young people can achieve great things through hard work," Chen said after the race. "I hope my story can encourage all students who are striving for their dreams: stay dedicated, embrace the challenges, and make it happen!"

Can a pocket money plan help save the planet At a middle school in Hangzhou, the answer is a resounding "yes". Since the start of the autumn term in September 2026, the school has launched an innovative "Carbon Account" project for students.
Under this project, each student receives a virtual "Green Carbon Card". When students choose low-carbon actions — such as riding a bicycle to school, finishing all food on their plates, or collecting plastic bottles for recycling — points are added to their accounts. These points can be used to exchange for books, stationery, or tickets to local science museums.
"In the past, I often spent my pocket money buying unnecessary snacks and drinks in plastic bottles," said Liu Yang, a Grade Nine student. "Now I have saved both money and carbon emissions. Over the past month, I have recycled thirty bottles and reduced about 2.5 kilograms of carbon emissions!"
Environmental experts speak highly of this initiative. "Financial education and green education should go hand in hand," noted Professor Zhang from Zhejiang University. "When teenagers learn how to budget their money and their carbon footprint at the same time, they develop a sense of responsibility for both their future and the earth."
By turning abstract climate goals into tangible daily habits, Chinese schools are empowering the next generation to become true stewards of a sustainable world.

阅读下面短文,根据短文内容完成下列各题。
On the evening of 28 September 2026, the Chinese women's 4×100m relay team delivered a masterclass in speed and teamwork at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, clocking a season-best 42.96 seconds to defend their championship title.
The quartet consisted of veteran sprinter Liang Xiaojing, Liu Guoyi, Liu Xiajun, and 100m champion Chen Yujie. While individual speed is fundamental, baton passing in the 20-metre exchange zone determines the outcome of a sprint relay. Any hesitation or mistimed step can cost precious tenths of a second.
During the final, China's execution was seamless. From the first handover between Liang and Liu Guoyi to the final exchange with Chen Yujie, every pass was executed at top speed. Taking the baton as the anchor runner, Chen maintained China's lead and stormed across the finish line ahead of Thailand (43.51s) and Japan (43.52s).
With this victory, Chen Yujie earned her second gold medal of the Games. "Individual events test your personal limits, but the relay is about trust and collective pride," Chen said after the race. "When all four of us run as one, nothing can stop us."

Managing Pressure and Striving for Goals
As Grade Nine students, we are all striving towards our future dreams. The brilliant performance of 17-year-old Asian Games double gold medalist Chen Yujie has inspired me deeply. She proved that pressure can be turned into motivation if we believe in ourselves.
To manage my study and daily life, I have formed a great habit of time management. Every evening, I write down what I need to do the next day and put the most important tasks first. Meanwhile, I have learned to manage my pocket money wisely by saving half of it instead of wasting it on useless snacks.
To prepare for the upcoming high school entrance examination, I have already taken action. I have kept reading English articles for twenty minutes every day since last term, and I have made steady progress in all subjects. In the future, I will stick to my goals step by step and never give up.
