On New Year's Eve, the whole family gathers for the reunion dinner. In the north, people make dumplings together while watching the festival programmes on TV. 5________ At midnight, fireworks light up the sky to welcome the new year.

五、阅读理解
(一)
Every year, a few weeks before the Spring Festival, Li Hua begins to refresh the ticket website again and again. As a young engineer working in Shanghai, he can only return to his hometown in Shandong once a year. During the festival travel rush, train tickets sell out within minutes, so he always books his ticket as early as possible.
The journey takes eight hours, but Li Hua never feels tired, because he knows who is waiting for him. His mother has already started preparing his favorite dumplings. She fills the freezer with them before he arrives, saying that food bought in the city is never as tasty as the food at home. His father says little on the phone, but Li Hua knows that on the day he returns, the old man will stand at the village entrance long before the bus arrives.
This year, Li Hua plans to bring his parents a special gift: a big family photo taken in Shanghai. Last year, when he showed them photos on his phone, his mother held the screen the whole evening and asked about every building in the pictures. "A phone screen is too small for so much happiness," Li Hua thinks. He believes that the best part of the Spring Festival is not the fireworks or the feast, but the moment when the family sits around one table again.

(二)
These days, many people say that the Spring Festival is not as lively as it used to be. Twenty years ago, children wore new clothes and set off fireworks in the street, and the whole family watched the festival programmes around one TV set. Today, however, celebrations are changing in many ways.
In big cities, some young people no longer travel home for the reunion dinner. Instead, they invite their parents to travel to the city, or they order dinner in a restaurant instead of cooking for two days. Red envelopes, which used to be wrapped in red paper and given by hand, are now often sent by phone. Even the greeting "Happy New Year" may arrive as a short video message.
Some old people complain that these new ways have taken away the warmth of the festival. But others disagree. Wang Mei, a university student, made a video call to her grandparents on New Year's Eve and showed them the fireworks in her city. "My grandparents live far away, and we can't be together," she says, "but technology helps us share the happy moment."
In fact, whether the dumplings are made at home or the red envelope arrives on a screen, the heart of the festival never changes. It is still a time for family love, and people will always find new ways to express it.
