二、阅读理解
请阅读下面语篇,从每小题所给的选项中,选出一个最佳选项。
Long ago, in ancient China, there was a story about the invention of silk. People believed that silk was first invented by Leizu, the wife of the Yellow Emperor. Leizu learned how to make cocoons (蚕茧) into soft and strong cloth. This magical cloth became known as “silk”, and it was so valuable that it was called “China’s Gold”. Following the kings’ orders, the Chinese kept the secret of making silk for centuries.
But then, something amazing happened! During the Han Dynasty, the brave officer Zhang Qian traveled west as far as Central Asia and brought silk there. As years passed by, silk became so important that the trade road from Europe to China got its name—the Silk Road.
The Silk Road became a busy highway for traders who carried things across deserts and mountains. From China, people sold silk and tea. In return, they received treasures such as spices (香料), gold and silver from the West. At the very beginning, it was mainly about trade; then people began to share ideas, technologies and cultures. For example, Chinese inventions like papermaking were spread to the West, while new ideas about math and science came to China.
Most importantly, the Silk Road helped different cultures learn from each other. Art, music and even language were shared along this ancient road. In places like the Dunhuang Grottoes (石窟) in China, you can see how art pieces combined (融合) Eastern and Western styles into something distinctive (独特的). It can not be seen anywhere else.
The story of the Silk Road tells us how people from faraway lands could become friends through trade and shared ideas. Today, we remember the Silk Road as one of the greatest examples of cooperation (合作) and exchange in history. It shows us how important it is to learn about and respect each other’s traditions, and that different cultures can work together to create amazing things.

Life today would be quite different without refrigerators. How did people keep their food fresh before these machines were around
The first electric refrigerator was made in 1913. 26 In cold areas, ancient people could freeze (冷冻) their food. They could then store it in ice and snow. Warmer places allowed for drying food in sunlight.
One advanced method of food storage appeared in Persia around 400 BCE. People there stored food in buildings called Yakhchal. They were made from mud (泥) brick to keep ice frozen during even the warmest summer months.
During the Middle Ages, people preserved meat by salting or smoking it. They would also dry many foods, including grains. Vegetables were often salted. Many fruits were dried or turned into preserves. These foods could then be stored in cool places. 27
Later, buildings called ice houses or ice pits (坑) were built based on the idea of the Yakhchal. 28 A larger above-ground building covered the pit. Ice houses were very common by the 1800s. This is also when ice delivery (运送) became common.
At the end of the19th century, many people kept their food fresh in iceboxes made of wood. These boxes held large blocks of ice to keep food cool. 29
By the 1930s, many people were using electric refrigerators to keep food fresh. 30 Many refrigerators today come with built-in water filters (过滤器) and ice makers. Some people even choose smart refrigerators that can help them plan meals.
A.They were stored there after dinner.
B.People today have many ways to store food.
C.This allowed people to save food in times of need.
D.They were cooled by an underground pit full of ice.
E.Before then, people found other ways to store their food.
F.Ice delivery businesses grew as more homes required ice to preserve food.
G.Since then, growth in technology has led these machines to become more advanced.

五、短文填空
An Invention That Changed the World
Can you imagine a world 42 books, newspapers, or magazines All of these things depend on one invention—papermaking. It, more than any other invention, was responsible for the rapid spread of information that shaped 43 (we) modern world.
In ancient China, many different 44 (material) were used to write on, such as animal bones, bronze ware, stones, wood, bamboo, and even silk. In the Western Han Dynasty, there was also a very early form of paper made from jute—a fibre that comes from plants. However, all of these materials were either difficult to use and store, 45 very expensive.
As the head officer of the palace workshop for the emperor in the Eastern Han Dynasty, Cai Lun became interested in trying 46 (solve) the problem. Different methods for creating something to write on were tried, but none were ideal. In his time, some kinds of bark—the outer part of trees—were used to make clothes. From past experiences, Cai Lun got the idea that bark, certain plants, and old clothes could be used to make a special material 47 (suit) to write on.
In the first step of Cai Lun’s experiment, all the ingredients 48 (mix) and boiled in water. Then, this material was beaten, cut up, and mixed with water again. Next, the liquid was poured over a bamboo screen, leaving just the fibre. Finally, this fibre was dried and pressed to form paper. To everyone’s surprise, this paper was soft, light, easy to make and use, and most importantly, cheap. In 105 CE, Cai Lun showed his creation to the emperor. 49 emperor was very pleased and praised Cai Lun for his great work.
Later on, the papermaking technique not only speeded up the development of Chinese culture, but also changed civilizations around the world. It 50 (one) spread to China’s neighbouring countries and finally reached Europe through Arab countries in the 12th century. When the use of paper and printing came together in later centuries, it led to a rapid increase in the number of books. This 51 (result) in a new birth of knowledge, creating the world we have today.
六、任务型阅读
阅读下面的短文,然后根据短文内容用完整的英语句子回答下列问题。
Space Tourism: A Dream Coming True
Imagine booking a ticket for a weekend trip to space. For most people, this sounds like science fiction. But in the coming years, space tourism may become a reality.
In 2001, American businessman Dennis Tito became the first space tourist. He paid about 20 million dollars to spend eight days on the International Space Station. Since then, only a few other wealthy people have taken similar trips. However, companies like SpaceX, Blue Origin, and Virgin Galactic are now working to make space travel more affordable.
What would a space trip look like for an ordinary tourist Most space tourism companies are offering suborbital flights (亚轨道飞行). These flights take passengers about 100 kilometers above Earth—the boundary of space. Passengers would experience about three to four minutes of weightlessness and see the curvature (弧度) of the Earth. The whole trip lasts only about 10 to 15 minutes.
Some companies are also planning orbital flights (轨道飞行) that would allow tourists to stay in space for several days, experiencing multiple sunrises and sunsets every day. The cost, however, is still extremely high—around 50 million dollars or more.
Despite the high cost, more than 600 people have already booked tickets for future space flights. Some say they want to experience the beauty of Earth from above. Others see it as the beginning of a new era of human exploration.
But space tourism also raises questions. Is it environmentally friendly Rockets release large amounts of greenhouse gases. Should space be reserved for scientific research These are questions that need to be discussed as space travel becomes more common.
52.Who was the first space tourist and when did he travel
53.What do most space tourism companies currently offer
54.How long does a typical suborbital flight last
55.How many people have booked tickets for future space flights

To show China’s achievements in space exploration, our group will make a poster about China’s space programme. We design the poster with two main parts.
First, we list important space events and missions on the poster, such as Shenzhou manned flights, Chang’e lunar missions and Tianwen Mars exploration. These great events show how fast China’s space science develops.
Second, we introduce some great astronauts and space scientists on the poster. They work hard and make China’s space dreams come true step by step.
After finishing the poster, our group will present it to the class. We hope more classmates will fall in love with space science through our introduction.
