Do you spend plenty of time on your phone and social media Lots of teenagers do. In Denmark, the government is worried about this problem. It plans to stop social media (社交媒体) for children under 15, because phones are taking away kids’ childhood.
Phones are helpful for contacting friends and family. However, social media also brings a lot of downsides. Reports show Danish kids aged 9-14 spend around three hours on screens every day. Some of them get unhealthy online information. It may leave them feeling unhappy or worried. What’s worse, many kids find it hard to focus on reading or schoolwork in class.
The new rule will stop kids under 15 from using social media. Still, parents can allow children aged 13 and above to use it.
Many countries follow similar ways: France, Greece and Spain set limits (限制) for kids. In the UK, online companies must protect (保护) children from unhealthy information. Australia will ban (禁止) social media for under 16s soon.
However, China uses a different way. Most websites (网站) have a special page for students. It shortens online time and hides bad news. Kids younger than 16 can’t show themselves online to others. Students can’t bring phones into classrooms, and parents need to teach kids to use the Internet in good ways.
1.Why does Denmark’s government plan to ban social media for kids under 15
2.How long do Danish kids aged 9 to 14 spend on screens every day
3.Which country will ban social media for children under 16 soon
4.Do you think it is a good idea to stop social media for kids under 15 Why or why not

A Balanced Life: Screen Time and Real Time
In today’s world, smartphones and the Internet are more common than ever before. For us students, this brings both great opportunities and some challenges. It is important to find a good balance between our online and offline lives.
The Internet helps us with our studies a lot. We can find information much more quickly than by reading books in a library. Online, there are more learning resources, such as educational videos and apps. They make learning more interesting and fun. We can also connect with friends more easily through social media. During the last vacation, I video-called my cousin in another city almost every day. It made us feel closer.
However, spending too much time online also has bad effects. Some students play online games for much longer than they plan to. As a result, they have less time for outdoor activities. Their grades may become worse because they don’t review their lessons as often as they should. Also, looking at screens for too long is bad for our eyes.
So, what can we do I think we need to manage our time better. A good way is to make a schedule. For example, we can decide to finish homework first, and then allow half an hour for watching videos or playing games. Outdoor activities are also important. We can go cycling with our families after finishing homework. This is a much healthier habit. Our parents can help by talking with us more and planning fun activities together. These real-life interactions are more meaningful for our growth.
In my opinion, technology itself is not good or bad. The key is how we use it. Let’s be smarter and build healthier habits for a better life.
6.The Internet makes study . People can find information much more quickly.
7.Going online can help students more learning resources.
8.Paragraph 3 mainly tells the of spending too much time online.
9.Parents can talk with their children more and together to help them manage time better.
10.How do you keep a balance between real life and smartphones
A School Digital Wallet Project
A secondary school in Shanghai conducted a small survey about digital payments. Students recorded how often they used electronic cards, QR codes and cash during one week. The project did not ask students to share private account numbers. Instead, they counted payment methods and wrote down one advantage and one possible problem for each method.
The results showed that QR-code payments were quick and convenient in shops near the school. Electronic cards were useful when students wanted to store several services in one place. Cash still helped when a phone battery was dead or a network was unavailable. In class, groups discussed how to use digital money wisely and how to protect personal information.
The teacher concluded that a digital wallet is only a tool. It can make payment easier, but users must check the amount, protect passwords and keep another method available. The survey also reminded students that a connected digital life should include careful choices, not just the latest technology. (QR code 二维码)
11.What did students record during the survey
12.What information did the project not ask students to share
13.Why was cash still useful
14.What did groups discuss in class
15.What did the teacher conclude about a digital wallet
16.Would you prefer paying by phone or by cash Explain your choice in about 30 words.

Also, AI can help students with their homework. Here comes a question--Is AI better than parents
Yes AI is certainly better than parents. It’s not just a smart tool. It’s patient (耐心的) when I ask for help, but my parents are not. This can make learning easier. Frank, 14, Beijing No I think parents are better than AI. They can give us love and help when we have problems. Of course, AI can give perfect answers to our study problems, but it is just a useful tool. Gina, 15, Taiyuan
When I have problems with maths. AI helps me a lot. That makes me feel good. My parents can teach me but they are not patient. I know they love me, but I don’t think they can help with my study. Betty, 13, Hangzhou My parents set a good example to me. When I’m studying, they always read books. They tell me how to make good study plans. They always say, “When you have study problems, think and try to solve them instead of asking AI for help at once.” David, 14, Shenzhen

What will happen if a family goes without the Internet for a month One American family decides to find out. They sent an invitation to a TV station, and asked the workers to record their daily life without the Internet for a month.
When the workers meet the Smiths, they find that Mr. Smith, Mrs. Smith and their two kids are so crazy about the Internet that they hardly do things together. At mealtimes, no one sits at the dining table for their food. “Everyone just runs into the kitchen, takes their food and then goes back to their screen,” Mrs. Smith explains. “If we don’t make a change, our family will become strangers to each other!”
Getting back to a life without the Internet is not easy, especially when the Smiths lose themselves in it. They have to make many changes. For example, the two kids have to go to the school library to borrow books for their scientific projects. Mr. and Mrs. Smith need to go out shopping because they cannot buy things online. Humans are the smartest on earth. People think we can make machines think like we do. So, we create AI.
Scientists teach AI to remember lots of information and learn from it. However, there are a lot of differences between humans and AI. AI doesn’t have feelings, while humans can be happy or sad. Besides, AI can’t create things, but humans can come up with new ideas.
“The Light of Internet Expo” (互联网之光博览会) opened in Wuzhen on 6 November,2025. It lasted for 3 days. People saw a lot of AI surprises in Wuzhen. AI can help visitors introduce beautiful scenery and offer food searches. In the streets, we saw smart robot dogs check network quality, while self-driving buses showed people around safely.
Because of these differences, many people think AI will not replace humans. AI will serve humans so that it will be like a tool for us.
How should we talk to AI
AI learns from talking with people. When you talk to AI politely, it will understand what you need more easily. If you keep being polite to AI, it will get better at talking to more people. This way, everyone will have a nicer experience with AI. We should talk to AI directly. It doesn’t have feelings. Also, the more words a person uses, the more work AI has to do to answer. So we should keep things short.
31.How is AI different from humans (one example is OK)
32.When did the Expo end
33.What can AI help you do if you visit Wuzhen
34.Why should people keep words short when they use AI

Have you ever used a map app to find your way Digital maps have changed the way we travel and explore the world. Before smartphones, people used paper maps or asked strangers for directions. Now, with just a few taps on your phone, you can get step-by-step directions to almost anywhere.
Digital maps are not just for driving. They can also help people who are walking, biking, or taking public transportation. Some map apps can even show you how crowded a bus or train is before you get on. This helps you save time and plan your trip better.
Another great feature of digital maps is the real-time traffic information. If there is a traffic jam ahead, the app can suggest a faster route. This is very helpful for people who drive to work every day. Some apps can also tell you where to find the cheapest gas station nearby.
However, digital maps have some disadvantages. They depend on the internet and GPS signals. If you are in a remote area with no signal, the map might not work. Also, sometimes the information on the map is not up to date. A new road might not appear, or a store might have moved. That is why it is still good to know how to read a paper map or ask for directions when needed.
In the future, digital maps will become even smarter. They might use augmented reality (AR) to show directions directly on the real-world view through your phone’s camera. Imagine seeing arrows on the street in front of you pointing the way!
36.How did people find directions before smartphones
37.What can digital maps show about public transportation
38.How do digital maps help drivers avoid traffic jams
39.Why might digital maps fail to work in some places
40.What technology might digital maps use in the future

Many companies have created apps to help blind people. Google has created an app that allows blind people to run alone.
Thomas Panek, the CEO of Guiding Eyes for the Blind, loved running. But he started losing his eyesight (视力) when he was 8. And by his early 20s he was totally blind. Later in life, he started running with other people or his guide dog. But he didn’t like depending on others.
In 2019, Panek asked some experts whether they could create something to help blind people run on their own. The Google team soon created an app called Project Guideline. The app can recognize a line painted on the ground with a smartphone camera. Through headphones (耳机), the app makes sounds when a person moves away from the line. The sounds get louder in either the left ear or the right ear when the person moves further away from the line.
After the app came out, Panek tried it. “For the first time, I didn’t feel like a blind man. I felt free,” Panek said. In November 2020, Panek successfully ran 5 kilometers around New York City’s Central Park by using the app.

Sometimes we get some “surprises” on our phones. For example, after you mark a song as a favourite on a music app, it recommends songs of the same kind to you. In fact, this magic, mind-reading recommendation depends on data.
Data (数据) is no longer only about numbers, but information about almost every part of life: where we go, what we do and what we like and dislike.
Big Data makes life easier. The smart traffic system in Los Angeles is a good example. It collects real-time traffic data and controls (控制) 4,500 traffic lights in the system. A supermarket named Tesco will recommend products to their customers on its website after knowing their shopping habits. Its app on a mobile phone even guides customers around supermarkets to find what they want.
However, Big Data causes serious problems about how we protect our privacy (隐私). We should learn to protect our privacy in the Big Data Age.
What we should do is to make the best use of it.
A.Though there are bad sides, Big Data is helpful in people’s lives in some ways.
B.You can search everything in the Big Data Age.
C.All this is called Big Data.
D.If an accident happens, the system will change the lights near there to control the traffic.
E.It can also give advice on what they may like to buy.

These days, media designers are using AI to make cool pet pictures. They create things like cat models, making a lot of businesses interested.
Last April, Chen Jian, a young artist from Shanghai, became popular online because he posted AI pictures of cats doing what humans do. One of his most famous posts showed a cat doing Baduanjin, a kind of Chinese exercise. That post got more than 160,000 likes! On a media platform (媒体平台), there are over 140,000 posts about “AI” and “pets”, showing animals dressed up, dancing, and even taking exams.
Chen, who's in his thirties, started learning AI tools in 2022. “I was worried AI might take designers' jobs, so I learned new skills in my free time,” he said. He planned to use AI to make his designs even better.
The idea of the exercising cat came from his own experience. Chen once had a health problem, and a doctor told him to do Baduanjin to get stronger. Later, when he did the exercises, he thought, “Why not let cats do it too ” He hoped these funny AI cats would make people care more about their health.
“At that time, not many people knew much about AI, and there weren't many cute pet pictures like mine,” Chen said. Now, with over 50,000 fans, he's working with big companies, like milk tea shops, car factories, and app makers. “It's good for both of us. They help me get more fans, and I help them get more attention,” he added.
In the future, Chen is not just going to make more pictures with AI—he wants to use AI to make some videos too!
65.How did Chen Jian become popular online
66.Where did Chen get the idea for creating the exercising cat

It seems like everyone plays video games today. Kids play, parents play, even grandparents play. In fact, more than half of the families in the United States today play video games.
However, video games haven’t been around for a long time. People created the first computer game in 1958. At that time, few people had computers at their puter programmers (程序员), or people working on the computers in labs (实验室), made games for fun and to show off their skills.
Later, a programmer named Ralph Bear began to think about how to play video games at home. He created a home game console (游戏机) that let people play video games on TVs. After that, many people began designing home game consoles. In the late 1980s, handheld games also became popular.
As technology developed and more people had computers, the number of games grew. People played sports games, puzzle games (益智游戏) and role-playing games. Then people started playing games online. In online games, lots of people in different places could play a game together.
Besides having fun, people can also use video games in other ways. You may have played games that help you remember English words. Some games also help you learn maths or geography. Doctors can even use games to treat children with brain injuries (脑损伤).
Video games have changed a lot in the past 60 years. They are not only something to help you have fun but also a tool that helps you develop problem-solving skills and creativity. It all depends on how you use them.

I have written for 20 years and won the China Special Book Award last winter. A few months later, I got a chance to give a talk at the Beijing International Book Fair. My topic was how AI could help with writing. When I looked at my empty notebook, I turned to AI for advice first. DeepSeek replied, “AI is like new paints for an artist. It offers more choices, but the hand holding the brush is still human.” These words made me think a lot.
Undoubtedly, it’s really helpful for people because AI can provide basic ideas for writers. It also helps save their time. Once when writing about snow mountains, I ran into trouble and couldn’t move on. AI suggested the snow mountains were like silent soldiers. I followed its advice and created a better expression: “The snow mountains are like ancient writers, using snow as their ink for classical books.”
However, AI often fails to describe the true feelings behind stories. One day I told the AI about my experience of surviving a landslide (滑坡) in Yunnan and asked it to write a story. The result was only a cold sentence: “The car met a geological (地质的) disaster at 23°N.” It completely missed the fear. I could not forget the sound of the car losing control, the smell of wet earth, and the shaking hands.
Now I understand clearly that AI is just a smart helper. It can provide ideas fast, but it can not understand real experiences deeply. I’ve also found using AI for too long can make you lazy and slow down your thinking.
So while AI might help make writing easier, touching stories always come from real life. After all, the best paints still need an artist’s hand to mix the most beautiful colours.
83.When did the writer win the award
84.What did AI suggest the snow mountains were like
85.Where do touching stories come from
86.Would you like to use AI to help you write Why or why not (Please give two reasons.)

All of these are based on big data. Big data is no longer only about numbers, but information from almost every part of our lives: our locations, shopping habits and interests.
In the past few years, people have seen big data being used more often in China. For example, it plays an important role in tourism. The data online is providing people with a lot of information about places of interest in some countries. The information not only shows travellers’ reviews, but also tells which place needs to be improved.
Nowadays, China is speeding up its big data construction (建设) in order to better serve social and economic (经济的) development. “AI is getting popular now. In the future, it will play a role in education,” said Zhang Bo, a famous Chinese scientist.
“AI might change how teachers work or even take over some of their roles,” Zhang said at a forum (论坛) which was held at Tsinghua University in Beijing. The forum was part of an AI robot competition (比赛). Zhang started studying AI in 1978. He hopes young people can keep working on it.
During a discussion (讨论) at the forum, a young teacher from Beijing Technology and Business University talked about how AI could make school more personal. Maybe one day every student would have their own AI robot to help with studying.
Most winners in the AI robot competition were teachers and students from universities, but younger kids were getting good at it. 10-year-old Yang was one of them. He started coding (编码) in 2023 and won first prize in the creative coding part of a competition. He dreams of building smart robots that can help people when he grows up.
