English letters can have different sounds. Today we talk about the letter i and the letter y.
The letter i often says /a / in words like time, like and five. But in words like sit, big and milk, it says / /.
The letter y can say /a / at the end of a word, like my, fly and try. It can also say / / in words like gym, city and happy. At the beginning of a word, y says /j/, like yes, you and year.
