Maya was a college student who had a reputation for being forgetful. Last week alone, she forgot her laptop at a café and blanked on her best friend’s birthday. She would study for hours, only to __16__ the material during exams. Being forgetful was holding her back and making her feel __17__ among her friends.
Most people assume memory is something you are __18__ with—either you have a good one or you don’t. Maya thought the same. But her roommate told her, “Your memory is just untrained.” That simple statement changed her mind. Memory is not like height or shoe size. It is more like a __19__. You can train it and strengthen it.
Maya didn’t try to change her whole life overnight. Instead, she practiced four __20__, one at a time. First, she made sure she got enough sleep, because the brain __21__ memories during sleep. Second, she started mind mapping her notes instead of just copying them. Third, she turned boring lessons into __22__ in her head, because humans remember stories far better than isolated facts. Finally, she began to __23__ regularly, which improved her mental clarity.
By the end of two months, Maya’s life had __24__. She started acing her exams and showing up on time to meetings. More importantly, she became more confident. She realized that memory isn’t broken—it’s just __25__. Every day is a chance to strengthen it.

A
Sometimes we forget where we put our keys or phone. It is frustrating, especially when you are running late. But do you ever forget where you put your toothbrush Probably not. People don’t misplace their toothbrush because it has a home. It “lives” in a cup or holder next to the sink.
Here is a simple technique to help you remember where you put things. Give every important object its own place, then put the object there and only there. For example, put your keys in a wooden bowl on top of the dresser. If the keys are not in the bowl, they are in your pocket or in the car. Those are the only three possibilities.
Memories are also linked to the specific circumstance in which they were formed. Studies show that we are more likely to recall information if we recreate the original setting. For example, the police sometimes take a witness to the scene of a crime to help the witness remember more.
To improve your own memory, you can do the same. If you struggle to remember how you felt on a trip 15 years ago, pull out a few photos. When you take a test at school, arrive early and sit in your usual seat, the place where you first learned the information.
26.Why don’t people forget where they put their toothbrush
Because it is very important. B. Because it has a fixed home.
Because it is always in the hand. D. Because it is too big to lose.
【答案】B
【解析】由 A 篇第一段“People don’t misplace their toothbrush because it has a home.”
27.The writer puts his keys in a wooden bowl to ______.
make his room tidy B. remember where they are
keep them safe from children D. make them easy to find in the dark

28.According to the passage, memories are related to ______.
the places where we put things B. the people we meet
【答案】C
【解析】由第三段“Memories are also linked to the specific circumstance in which they were formed.”
the circumstance in which they were formed D. the time when we sleep
29.What does “recreate the original setting” mean in the passage
To build a new house. B. To go back to the same place or situation.
To write down what happened. D. To take photos of the past.

30.What is the best title for the passage
How to Remember Where Things Are B. The Importance of Sleep
Why We Forget Names D. How to Make a Shopping List

Memory is no longer a passive trait that you either have or do not. It is a skill, and like any skill, it can be trained. Today, evidence from science is sending a hopeful message: most of us can remember more by improving how we learn and store information.
First, memory improves when you review information many times in different ways. Spaced review and testing yourself work much better than just rereading notes. Students who test themselves learn more than those who only review their notes.
Second, sleep helps you keep new memories. Cutting sleep is like leaving the “save” button unclicked. When you sleep, your brain strengthens the memories you made during the day. Most teens and young adults need seven to nine hours of sleep every night.
Third, physical activity also helps. Regular, moderate exercise supports brain health and improves attention, which indirectly helps memory. Even walking or jogging a few times a week can make a difference.
These methods are not magic tricks. They are practical tools you can put to work this week. Give each of them two weeks, notice what changes, and then add another one.
31.What is the main idea of the passage
Memory cannot be improved. B. Memory can be trained like a skill.
Only smart people have good memory. D. Sleep is bad for memory.
【答案】B

【答案】B
【解析】由第二段“Spaced review and testing yourself work much better than just rereading notes.”
33.Why is sleep important for memory
It makes us grow taller. B. It helps the brain strengthen memories.
It makes us forget bad things. D. It takes away our stress completely.
【答案】B
【解析】由第三段“When you sleep, your brain strengthens the memories you made during the day.”
34.How much sleep do most teens need every night
Five hours. B. Seven to nine hours.
Ten to twelve hours. D. Two to three hours.

35.What does the writer advise us to do at the end
To try all the methods at once. B. To give up if a method doesn’t work.
To try each method for some time, then add another. D. To sleep less and study more.

A
Sometimes we forget where we put our keys or phone.
C.Because it is always in the hand. D. Because it is too big to lose.
27.The writer puts his keys in a wooden bowl to ______.
make his room tidy B. remember where they are
C.keep them safe from children D. make them easy to find in the dark
28.According to the passage, memories are related to ______.
the places where we put things B. the people we meet
C.the circumstance in which they were formed D. the time when we sleep
29.What does “recreate the original setting” mean in the passage
To build a new house. B. To go back to the same place or situation.
C.To write down what happened. D. To take photos of the past.
30.What is the best title for the passage
How to Remember Where Things Are B. The Importance of Sleep
C.Why We Forget Names D. How to Make a Shopping List
B
C.Only smart people have good memory. D. Sleep is bad for memory.
32.According to the passage, which is a better way to learn
Just rereading your notes. B. Testing yourself while reviewing.
C.Reading fast without thinking. D. Copying the whole book.
33.Why is sleep important for memory
It makes us grow taller. B. It helps the brain strengthen memories.
C.It makes us forget bad things. D. It takes away our stress completely.
34.How much sleep do most teens need every night
Five hours. B. Seven to nine hours.
C.Ten to twelve hours. D. Two to three hours.
35.What does the writer advise us to do at the end
To try all the methods at once. B. To give up if a method doesn’t work.
C.To try each method for some time, then add another. D. To sleep less and study more.

How can we have a good memory 授课教师 ________
授课班级 ________ 授课日期 ________
(In this unit, you will…):① describe memory problems using object clauses(用宾语从句描述记忆问题);② describe a happy memory of your family(描述一段美好的家庭回忆);③ discover how memory works(了解记忆的工作原理);④ explore ways to improve your memory(探索提升记忆力的方法)。
(Big Question):How can we have a good memory
Section A (1a-1f) What do we remember (本课,听说课);第2课时 Section A (2a-2d) Professor Green’s Lecture(听说课);第3课时 Section A (3a-3d) & Grammar Focus Memory & Object Clauses(语法课);第4课时 Section B (1a-1e) How to Boost Your Memory(阅读课);第5课时 Section B (2a-3c) Vocabulary & Writing: Memory Challenge Diary(词汇与写作课)。
I can’t remember what things you asked me to buy. / I wonder how I forgot about the sugar.
What can you do to avoid Peter’s and Billy’s mistakes 和 Do you have any memory problems
1. 听力中物品名词密集且易混淆(如 flour / flower 音近词),连续语流中捕捉 sugar、strawberries 等关键词难度较大;
2. 1c 要求边听边补全句子、1e 要求听后用完整句回答三个开放问题,对信息记录与整合能力要求较高;
3. 疑问词引导的宾语从句是全新语法点,学生受疑问句倒装的负迁移影响,易说成 what did you ask;
1. 能正确听、说、读、用核心词汇:memory, memorize, forgetful, remind, run out, attend, advise, lecture, brain 及 butter, flour, sugar, strawberry 等购物名词;
2. 能听懂两段日常对话,准确完成 1b(圈出需购物品)、1c(补全句子)、1d(勾选遗忘事项)、1e(回答问题)四项听力任务;
3. 能运用 remind sb. about sth. / remind sb. to do sth. / advise sb. to do sth. / You’d better (not) do… / Don’t forget to… 等句型谈论提醒与建议;
(I can’t remember what…
1. 体会家人、同学之间互相关心、互相提醒的温情,学会用英语表达歉意、关切与建议;
1. 能对 1a 中的记忆内容按 Study / Life / Moment 进行分类,并分析哪些内容易记、哪些难记及其原因;
2. 能对比 Peter 与 Billy 的遗忘情形,归纳出防遗忘的实用方法(列清单、设提醒、串联新旧知识、劳逸结合等);
1. 掌握“听前预测—听中抓关键词—听后整理”的听力策略,学会借助图片、表格和选项降低听力负荷;
2. 学会在结对与小组活动中分工合作、倾听他人、补充观点;
1. 核心词汇与短语的理解与运用:memory, forgetful, remind, run out, attend, advise, mix up 及购物类名词;
2. 提醒与建议句型:remind sb. about sth. / remind sb. to do sth. / advise sb. to do sth. / You’d better (not) do… / Don’t forget to…;
1. 在连续语流中听辨易混词(flour / flower)并捕捉 sugar、strawberries 等关键信息;
2. 理解疑问词引导的宾语从句须使用陈述语序:I can’t remember what things you asked me to buy. (不能说成 what did you ask);
How can we have a good memory 展开。
What are the people looking at / What might be in their photos / What methods do you use to keep memories 2. How can we have a good memory
Numbers are hard for me—I often mix them up. Which are easy / hard for you 4. Why do you think they are hard to remember 1. 同桌互问互答,用 … is / are easy / hard for me (because…)
在情境句中教 memory / memorize / forgetful、run out(出示快空的糖罐)、attend a lecture、advise:Mum advises Peter to take a shopping list.3. 与 remind sb. to do sth.
提示听力策略:注意转折与纠正的话——That’s not what I asked you to buy.
What did he buy by mistake (flour)2. I can’t remember what things you asked me to buy.
How did Fu Xing react when Billy said sorry to her / Why has Billy been so forgetful recently / What advice did Fu Xing give him 3.
I often forget… / I can’t remember how… 描述记忆问题;医生与组员从三类“药方”中给出建议——Write it down(列清单、设手机提醒)、Link it up(新旧知识串联、为单词画图)、Rest well(睡够觉、少熬夜);3. 运用 remind / advise / You’d better / Don’t forget to 给出建议;3.
Good memory comes from habits, not luck.
Unit 4 Our Memory — Section A (1a-1f) What do we remember
Study: numbers, words, rules, speeches, poems… | Life: names, ages, dates, positions… | Moment: happiness, sadness, fear, surprise…
【核心语言】remind sb. about sth. / remind sb. to do sth. advise sb. to do sth. You’d better (not) do… Don’t forget to… run out
I can’t remember what things you asked me to buy.(疑问词后用陈述语序)
【故事线与药方】Peter:忘买 sugar,错买 flour → Write it down(列购物清单、设提醒)
两人赶去听讲座 → Link it up(新旧知识串联、画图记词)
Good memory comes from habits, not luck.
1. 听 1b、1d 录音并跟读模仿,把两段对话流利地读给同桌或家长听;
2. 抄写并记忆附录B中的重点短语(10个)与重点句型(5句);
3. 用 remind sb. to do sth. / advise sb. to do sth. / You’d better…
1. 用疑问词引导的宾语从句(I can’t remember what / how / why…)写3个句子,描述自己“记不清的一件事”;
