教学目标
1.Grasp information about the three artists and their works, their inspiration for their works and their understanding about arts by skimming and scanning. 2.Identify the quotes of the three artists and analyse the function of quotes in introducing the artists’ inspiration (why not reported speech ). 3.Understand the relation between art and inspiration and apply it to their studies and daily life.
教学内容
教学重点： 1.To guide students to understand the meanings of famous quotes and help them gain a preliminary insight into artists' understanding of art and the sources of their inspiration. 2.To guide students to master the usage of quotes(direct speech) and apply it to express ideas. 教学难点： To guide students to reflect deeply on the experiences of the three artists, and think about how they can draw inspiration in their studies and daily life to achieve success.

Lead-in (5 mins) 1.The teacher asks the students to read the title and guess the meaning of “muse” . 2.The teacher plays the video and asks the students to take notes while watching the video. Read and answer (4 mins) 1.The teacher provides information about the four famous artists and asks the students to find out the key words of the quotes and try to give definitions to these words. 1.The students discuss in pair and give the definitions. (PW)
Understanding ideas
Pre-reading (5 mins) 1.The teacher asks the students to tick what they think are the most important sources of inspiration for artists. 2.The teacher asks the students to skim the passage and choose where they would most likely find the passage and give the reasons. 1.The students tick what they think are the most important sources of inspiration for artists. Post-reading (10 mins) 1.The teacher asks the students to read the quotes from the passage and try to use reported speech to rewrite the quotes. 2.Think and share: The teacher asks the students to think about the following two questions: ①What might inspire you to create an artwork ②How can we get inspiration for our studies and daily life 1.The students try to use reported speech to rewrite the quotes and make a comparison between quotes and reported speech. (IW, PW) 2.The students discuss in group and give the answers to these two questions.
