My First Month in Senior High
On September 1st, I walked into No.1 Senior High School. My hands were cold and my heart was beating fast — I was really nervous. I carried a big bag with new textbooks and followed the students to my classroom.
The first hard thing was military training. We stood under the hot sun for 40 minutes. My legs hurt so much that I wanted to sit down. Then, Li Mei, a girl next to me, said quietly, “Come on, we can hold on together.” Her words made me strong. After that, we helped each other tidy our uniforms and shared our water. Slowly, I wasn’t shy anymore, and we began to laugh.
The class meeting was another important day. Our teacher asked everyone to talk about a “small goal” for this term. At first, I was afraid to speak. But when I saw my classmates talking bravely, I stood up and said, “I want to join the English club and practice speaking.” The class clapped loudly. Later, two classmates told me they wanted to join me.
Now, a month has passed. I don’t feel nervous when I walk in the school. Senior high isn’t only about exams and homework — it’s about making good friends and trying new things. I know this is just the start, and I’m ready for it.
24. Why did the author’s heart beat fast when entering the school
A. Because the bag was too heavy. B. Because he felt nervous about senior high.
C. Because the sun was too hot. D. Because he couldn’t find the classroom.
25. Who helped the author during military training
A. Li Mei B. The teacher
C. His parents D. A new friend from the club.
26. What was the author’s small goal
A. To finish military training. B. To get good grades in exams.
C. To make 10 new friends. D. To join the English club.
27. What does the author think of senior high now
A. It’s only about hard work. B. It’s full of new chances.
C. It’s too difficult for him. D. It’s not interesting at all.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been around for thousands of years. But recently, it has found a new stage: social media. From the well-known gua sha tools to the practice of drinking hot water, TCM-inspired habits are becoming popular in health routines around the world.
Videos on platforms like TikTok and Instagram romanticize TCM practices. They show people boiling apples for better digestion, changing iced coffee to hot water, or wearing slippers indoors — small habits like these are presented as keys to a longer, healthier life.
But what is behind this trend Unlike Western medicine, which often treats symptoms (症状) one by one, TCM focuses on balance within the body. It uses ideas such as qi (vital energy), yin and yang, and the interaction between the body and its environment. The goal is to prevent illnesses and achieve a harmonious (和谐的) state, rather than simply reacting to illness.
However, the rapid spread of these traditions online raises concerns. On social media, complex traditions are often simplified into bite-sized habits like “drink hot water” or “avoid cold foods”. When practices that developed over centuries are reduced to quick advice, the deep philosophical and cultural bases behind them can disappear. What remains is a simplified version of a much richer system of knowledge.
There are also practical concerns. While many people use TCM for relaxation and preventative care, scientists note that some herbal (草药) treatments lack enough medical evidence and can even carry risks. The line between a cultural practice and medical advice can easily be unclear online.
Despite these debates, the popularity of Chinese wellness reflects a real search for balance in today’s fast-paced world. Whether people are embracing the deep philosophy or simply the beauty of these traditions, it’s clear that TCM has firmly entered the global self-care conversation.
28. How do online platforms present TCM practices according to the passage
A. As romantic personal choices. B. As advanced medical treatments.
C. As fashionable lifestyle habits. D. As easy-to-follow daily health tips.
29. What is a key feature of TCM’s approach to health compared with Western medicine
A. It aims at inner harmony. B. It treats each symptom separately.
C. It depends on the environment. D. It uses traditional Chinese medicine.
30. What concern does the author raise about the spread of TCM on social media
A. Unclear herbal treatments. B. Unnecessary medical expense.
C. Overemphasis on quick advice. D. Loss of deeper cultural meaning.
31. What is the main purpose of the passage
A. To describe how to use TCM practices.
B. To warn against online TCM health trends.
C. To discuss TCM’s rising online popularity.
D. To argue TCM is better than Western medicine.

第二节 (满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Everything changed when I entered high school. With 790 students in my freshman class, I felt completely lost, recognizing no one from middle school. Loneliness followed me home. My elder brother was busy with his future plans, and my popular sister was always surrounded by friends. They both seemed to fit in perfectly. “Why can’t I ” I wondered, entering the house after another difficult day.
Mom was there waiting for me. “Karole, your bedroom’s a disaster. Why can’t you keep it clean ”
The last thing I needed was criticism (批评) from my mother. Where was the mother who used to sit with me on the couch, reading stories and loving me unconditionally I didn’t try to explain my feelings. It was easier to hide in my room with my bad mood, as I did every afternoon.
Clearing a space on my desk, I opened my math book — yet another thing I wasn’t good at anymore. My grades had been falling along with my confidence. I started working on the first problem but immediately made a mistake. “Wrong again! You can’t do anything right!” I tore the paper from my notebook, crumpled it, and threw it toward the wastebasket. It missed and landed on the floor, echoing my mother’s words in my mind.
By the time I finished my homework, the floor was littered with crumpled (起皱的) paper. Strangely, seeing this mess gave me a kind of satisfaction — it seemed to prove all my failures. I lifted the bedcover and kicked the papers under the bed. This became my secret habit. Each crumpled ball reminded me I was a failure, yet I hid my unhappiness as carefully as I hid those papers. Behind my mask of indifference, nobody knew my true feelings. Who would want to listen
One day, I came home to an empty house. It was a relief not to be met with Mom’s latest complaint. Nothing I do is right in her eyes, I thought. Or anyone else’s, including mine.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
When I opened the door of my bedroom, I froze.

第一节 参考范文
Dear Peter,
I understand you’re under great stress since entering senior high. Don’t be overly anxious!
First, make a detailed study plan that suits your own situation, which can help you manage your time more effectively.
Second, what you need to know is that everyone adapts to new environments at their own pace, so be patient with yourself. You can join some clubs where you can meet like-minded friends; this is a great way to fit into the new surroundings.
If you still feel overwhelmed, don’t hesitate to talk to your teachers or classmates, who can offer you useful advice.
I believe you’ll get used to it soon.
Best wishes!
Li Hua
第二节 参考范文
When I opened the door of my bedroom, I froze. The messy floor that I’d hidden papers under every day was spotless— no crumpled balls, no scattered notebooks. My desk was neatly organized too, with my math book placed gently in the center. On the bed lay a folded stack of my favorite snacks and a small white envelope, which stood out against the clean sheets. My throat tightened suddenly; I’d never expected anyone to notice the mess I’d been hiding, let alone tidy it up so quietly.
I recognized Mom’s perfect handwriting on the note at once. “Karole, I saw every paper you hid. Each one didn’t mean you’re a failure, just that you’re trying. High school is hard, and it’s okay to feel lost. I’m sorry I didn’t ask how you felt earlier. Whenever you’re ready to talk, I’ll be on the couch.” Tears rolled down my cheeks. I walked to the living room, and Mom looked up with a soft smile. I sat beside her, finally letting go of the mask I’d worn for so long. That day, I realized I wasn’t alone after all.

You can use the yellow radios in your desks to communicate with me and other teachers if necessary. No one is allowed to leave the classrooms for any reason until the alarm has stopped. Once you hear that the bell has stopped, line up quickly and walk outside to the playground. Make sure that you stay with your class at all times. Once we are all outside, I will make another announcement and we can then return to our normal activities.
