Michaela Benthaus, a 33-year-old German aerospace engineer, made history on December 20, 2025. She boarded Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket and became the first wheelchair user to travel beyond the Kármán line(卡门线)—the boundary of outer space, 100 km above Earth (the recognized boundary between Earth’s atmosphere and space).
Benthaus’s road to space is tough. A 2018 mountain biking accident left her paralyzed from the waist down, confining her to a wheelchair. But it did not end her passion for space. She earned a master’s degree in aerospace engineering and worked at the European Space Agency (ESA), focusing on Mars atmosphere research and spacecraft landing technology. “Even as an able-bodied person, becoming an astronaut felt out of reach,” Benthaus said before the flight. “After my accident, I thought space was totally impossible for someone like me.”
Her dream got a breakthrough in 2024 when she met Hans Koenigsmann, a former SpaceX executive, at a drone competition in Munich. Koenigsmann helped her partner with Blue Origin, a US aerospace company, which made small but key adjustments: adding transfer benches, refining leg restraints(安全装置) for safety in microgravity, and using the launch pad’s elevator for boarding. This cross-border cooperation between a German engineer, a US firm and a European space organization made the historic flight possible.
During the flight, Benthaus enjoyed minutes of weightlessness, using a special strap to stabilize her legs and gazing at Earth’s curvature(弧线). “I didn’t want to miss a single second of the view from space,” she recalled.
This flight is more than a personal win. It proves space can welcome everyone with proper preparation. Benthaus hopes to blaze a trail: “I want to be the first, not the last.” She is also raising funds for spinal cord injury research, showing that dreams have no limits with courage and inclusion.
24.What can we learn about Benthaus from paragraph 2
A.She had a serious car accident in 2018.
B.She worked on research on Mars at the ESA.
C.She believed space trips were easy for all.
D.She lost interest in space after a serious accident.
25.Which is the key to making Benthaus’s space flight possible
A.The smooth launch of the rocket.
B.Her partnership with Blue Origin.
C.The cooperation between different units.
D.The financial aid from the organizations.
26.What can best describe Benthaus according to the text
A.Determined and brave. B.Humorous and selfish.
C.Outgoing and persistent. D.Courageous and confident.
27. Which saying best describes Benthaus’s experience
A.Two heads are better than one.
B.Every cloud has a silver lining.
C.Actions speak louder than words.
D.Where there is a will, there is a way.

People experience emotional pain—often in the form of guilt—when spending money. This is called the moral tax or pain of payment. We can reduce this guilt by separating the enjoyment of purchase(购买) from its payment. However, the best way to reduce moral tax is by receiving a gift—an item you don’t have to pay for at all!
As a result, the best gifts are items that normally bring particularly high levels of moral tax. This may include goods that appear overpriced and therefore bring particularly bad feelings of guilt upon purchase.
Curiously, it’s not about the actual amount of money spent. What matters most are the emotions brought by the gift (or the guilt taken away). Consider the following example as an explanation.
For weeks, Anne has had her eye on a pair of designer shoes. They look incredibly stylish and go perfectly with her new winter coat. She’s got enough money to pay for the shoes but doesn’t think the purchase is necessary. After all, she has already owned three other pairs of winter footwear. Still, Anne deliberately mentions the shoes to her husband Alex, and on Christmas morning she is overjoyed to open a large box containing the shoes. She is happy with the gift even though Alex bought it from their family bank account.
Looking at it from an economic point of view, Anne’s happiness doesn’t make any sense. Since she shares a bank account with her husband, it doesn’t matter who buys the shoes. The loss of money is the same either way. How can Anne be happy with Alex making a purchase she previously thought unnecessary It all comes down to the moral tax. By making the payment on Anne’s behalf, Alex cuts his wife’s pain of payment. Anne gets to enjoy her precious shoes guilt-free.
The experts suggest that the best gifts are things that people really want but refuse to buy to avoid feeling guilty. What are your partner’s secret wants and guilty pleasures Unfortunately, that’s the question you need to answer yourself.
28.What does the moral tax refer to in the text
A.The problems caused by overspending.
B.The guilt about receiving an expensive gift.
C.The feeling of satisfaction after shopping.
D.The emotional pain from spending money.
29.What might an economist think of Anne’s excitement
A.Unreasonable. B.Interesting. C.Expected. D.Unreal.
30.Why does Anne refuse to buy the shoes herself
A.She has got a similar pair.
B.She decides to put off satisfaction.
C.She is influenced by the moral tax.
D.She only wants to use her husband’s money.
31.What do the experts suggest about the best gifts
A.They should be practical and useful.
B.They should be affordable yet meaningful.
C.They should be expensive to express appreciation.
D.They should be items people want but won’t buy out of guilt.
D
Humanoid robots have recently been arranged to patrol(巡逻) the streets alongside human police officers in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, where they were noticed in high-visibility police vests performing duties, drawing widespread public attention as they actively communicate with the public.
An online popular video shows the robot walking in formation with police officers and enthusiastically shaking hands with people. It waved to the crowd and carried out voice commands, drawing many onlookers and bringing the city streets to life.
These humanoid robots, named as model PM01, were released on December 24, 2024. Standing 1.38 metres tall and weighing approximately 40kg, they cost 88,000 yuan each. Despite their compact size, the robots are driven by a powerful advanced learning algorithm(算法) for movement, enabling them to walk naturally and smoothly like humans and to perform complex movements such as front flips. Equipped with powerful chips and various sensors, including a LiDAR system—a device that uses lasers(激光) to measure distance and map their surroundings—these robots can accurately respond to commands and navigate through environments.
The PM01 was engineered by EngineAI, a Shenzhen-based startup founded in 2023. The company has already showed several robot models, with the most groundbreaking one, the SE01, capable of performing complex actions such as squatting, jumping, doing push-ups, and grabbing items. Although the PM01 is currently in limited use within the Shenzhen police force, they help officers with patrol duties, possibly reducing their workload.
The police robot generated significant interest after videos were shared on YouTube. Many Chinese online observers are eager to see more technologies walk into their everyday lives. One person expressed: “Beyond military and law enforcement applications, household service robots have the highest demand and greatest qualities that can be developed among humanoid robots. If they can replace housekeepers at an affordable price, we will enter a new era of humanoid robots.”
32.What was the public’s first reaction to humanoid robots patrolling in Shenzhen
A.The public quickly got tired of the robots.
B.The public was interested in the robots’ performance.
C.The public feared the technology and avoided robot-patrolled areas.
D.The public doubted the robots’ ability to perform the police duties.
33.What does the underlined word “compact” in the third paragraph probably mean
A.Huge. B.Small. C.Medium. D.Wrong.

To keep yourself safe, don’t post personal information(such as your full name, where you live, where you go to school, where you work, etc.). Respect others and don’t post their personal information without permission(允许), as well.
Don’t send unsuitable content to others

In one of my classes today we discussed the question of how our lives would be without a mobile phone. I actually felt quite sad to hear how some kids cannot 41 without their phones these days. 42 , I think nowadays we are 43 by our technology to keep up. So let’s see some of the points that 44 in the discussion and see if our generation really is addicted to electronic connections rather than true communication.
It is true that everything works at a fast pace these days. For example, you can contact someone who lives on the other side of the world within 45 . This is great if you think about how connected we can stay to the 46 who are far away from us. However, on the contrary, can we be too connected to the people who are 47 to us An argument arose about the 48 that it is easier to message someone from your sofa than to meet them 49 and talk. Social skills are important to have and if you are not going to put effort into real-life 50 , then you are not going to progress in this ability.
Another point is that phones are very handy for 51 something that you are wondering about. For example, if you don’t know a word in another language, you can quickly and simply use an online translator to help you out. This can be very 52 in many situations, but it can also make a person depend on the 53 to help with anything.
All in all, this question is very interesting to 54 for oneself as we become day by day more dependent on technology. We should realize how much we really need to be connected by our phones while considering the 55 and damages it can cause us.

第二节(满分25分)
  阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Joy, a ten-year-old boy who loves nature, is always ready to help others, whether animals or humans. For example, he is always keeping water in a large basin in his yard for watering the birds and other animals.
One noon, he was playing on the grass in a bushy garden after school. He enjoyed chirping(叽喳叫) birds, colorful butterflies, and a squirrel playing on the coconut trees. It was their own free kingdom, and Joy felt like an outsider. He decided to give them space to enjoy freely.
So he found an open grass and lay down, feeling like sunbathing on a greeny beach. Under the hot sun, Joy covered the eyes with his soft palms(手掌). His mind flew and he thought about his class teacher Miss Shyla’s homework task—to do a good deed every day.
Joy stretched(伸出) out his hands, fed the squirrel some biscuits and played with it. He felt the tiny eyes of the squirrel upon him. And just then, Joy saw a big rat spying on him from a hole. Upon seeing the big rat, Joy rose to his feet and ran towards the hole. Finally, he failed to find the rat and the rat hid into its hole. Joy lay down again.
As he enjoyed the greeny “beach” and the sight of the blue sky, he thought, “What a wonderful and blessed world it is! We humans should allow the animals to live as they wish.”
Suddenly, a tiny bird fell onto the ground before his eyes. The bird shook several times and then lost consciousness(知觉). Joy jumped up and tried his best to wake the bird up, but failed. He thought the bird had fainted(晕倒) because of the heat. He couldn’t bear to see the little creature suffer and decided to take care of the bird.
注意:续写词数应为150个左右。
Joy picked up the bird and rushed back home.

At last, the bird came back to life and opened its eyes.

第四部分 写作
第一节
One possible version:
Nowadays, there are various English learning apps on the Internet. Recently, I’ve made a survey in my class of whether students should use these apps in their study, over which controversy among my classmates has arisen.
70% of the students are in favor of using these English learning apps. Firstly, they think the apps can help improve their listening as well as expand vocabulary. Moreover, they can refer to these apps whenever and wherever possible, thus broadening their horizons. In contrast, students, accounting for 30% of the total number, hold the opposite view. They feel students tend to rely on these apps, making them unable to think independently. Worse still, some apps may contain wrong or even harmful information.
From where I stand, I contend that we students should make good use of these English learning apps.

Ten minutes passed, but the bird did not wake up. Joy became more and more worried. After asking his mother, Joy learned that the bird might have been injured. Therefore, Joy decided to turn to the vet for help. After being examined and receiving professional treatment, the bird’s condition improved.
At last, the bird came back to life and opened its eyes. Seeing the bird waking up, Joy was relieved. Unfortunately, the bird failed when attempting to fly away. Joy took the bird home, put it into a cage and took care of it carefully. A few days later, the bird finally recovered. Joy took the cage to the bushy garden, opened the cage, and released the bird. The bird flew out, chirping around Joy. Finally, it flew away freely. Recalling the good deed he had done, Joy was very happy.
