七、阅读理解(共 15 小题;每小题 2 分,满分 30 分)
阅读 A、B、C 三篇短文,从每小题所给的四个选项中选出最佳答案。
A
Have you ever stayed up all night to study, only to forget most of it in the exam Science explains why. Memory has three steps: you take information in, you store it, and later you bring it back. Much of the storing happens while you are asleep.
There are two main kinds of sleep, and both help learning. Deep sleep, which comes mostly in the first half of the night, moves the day's lessons from a short-term store to a long-term one. Dream sleep, or REM sleep, comes mostly in the second half of the night and helps us remember skills and make new connections between ideas. That is why you sometimes wake up with the answer to a problem you could not solve the night before.
Researchers offer students simple rules. Get seven to eight hours of sleep every night, even during exam season. Review your hardest material right before bed, because the brain likes to keep what you have just learned. Never stay up all night — studies show that missing the sleep right after learning causes memory loss that you cannot make up later.
A short nap can help too. Research has found that a twenty-minute nap between study sessions improves both your attention and how much you remember. In short, if you want a better memory, close your books early and go to sleep.
46. According to the passage, when does much of the storing of memory happen
A. While you exercise. B. While you are asleep.
C. While you read aloud. D. While you take a test.
47. What does REM sleep mainly help us do
A. Move lessons into long-term memory. B. Forgett unpleasant things.
C. Remember skills and connect ideas. D. Fall asleep faster.
48. What is one piece of advice from the researchers
A. Study your hardest subject right before bed. B. Sleep only during exam season.
C. Stay up all night before a test. D. Study for ten hours every day.
49. What does the underlined word "nap" in Paragraph 4 mean
A. A short sleep. B. A long walk.
C. A quick meal. D. A study plan.
50. What is the main idea of the passage
A. Why exams are difficult. B. How to sleep less and study more.
C. Good sleep helps you remember better. D. The history of sleep research.
B
Every day, your brain takes in millions of pieces of information. If it kept them all, it would soon be full. So the brain has to choose. Scientists are now learning how it decides which memories to keep.
In November 2025, a team at Rockefeller University published a study in the journal Nature. They taught mice to remember certain places in a virtual-reality world, making some experiences happen many times and others only a few. Then they watched the animals' brains. They found that lasting memory is not stored in a single moment. Instead, several parts of the brain work together over time, like workers passing a box along a line. Some "gatekeeper" molecules decide whether a memory should be kept for a long time or allowed to disappear.
"What we choose to remember is a continuing process, not a single switch," said the lead scientist, Priya Rajasethupathy. This helps explain something we all notice: some memories last for years, while others vanish within days.
Other scientists are looking at memory loss. A team at Virginia Tech used a tool called CRISPR to repair certain molecules in the brains of older rats, and the animals' memories returned. The work is still at an early stage, but it suggests that losing memory in old age may not be permanent.
So if you sometimes forget things, don't feel bad — your brain is simply doing its job. The important thing is to fill it with what matters, and to treat it well.
51. Why does the brain have to choose which memories to keep
A. Because it cannot keep everything. B. Because it dislikes old memories.
C. Because it only works at night. D. Because memories are too small.
52. What did the Rockefeller University team find
A. Mice have no long-term memory. B. Memories are stored in a single moment.
C. Several brain parts work together over time to keep a memory. D. Only humans can keep memories.
53. What does the underlined word "vanish" in Paragraph 3 probably mean
A. Grow stronger. B. Disappear.
C. Stay the same. D. Come back.
54. What did the Virginia Tech team discover
A. Memory loss in old age may be reversible. B. CRISPR makes rats live longer.
C. Memory problems cannot be treated. D. Old rats forget everything.
55. What is the writer's purpose in the last paragraph
A. To tell readers to stop forgetting things. B. To encourage readers to take good care of their memory.
C. To sell a memory medicine. D. To describe a trip to a laboratory.
C
Many students believe that some people are simply born with a good memory and others are not. Experts say this is a mistake. Memory, they explain, is a skill that can be trained — and there are well-tested ways to do it.
The first step is to understand, not just repeat. If you can explain an idea in one sentence in your own words, you have already remembered it better. Research shows that we remember only about 10% of what we read, but about 90% of what we teach to someone else.
The second step is to use your senses. Write the information down, say it aloud, draw a picture of it or connect it with something you already know. Using more than one sense creates more "roads" in the brain, so you can find the information from different directions.
The third step is to review at the right time. According to the famous "forgetting curve", we forget about 70% of new information within a day if we do nothing. The simple answer is spaced review: go over the material again after twenty minutes, then after one day, then after three days, then after a week. Tools such as flash cards and memory apps can help you keep to this plan.
Finally, take care of your body. Enough sleep, light exercise every day, plenty of water and a little less screen time all make your memory work better. A student who studies for three focused hours may remember more than one who sits for eight tired hours. Memory is not magic — it is a habit.
56. What do experts say about memory
A. It is decided at birth. B. It can be trained.
C. It cannot be improved. D. It only works for young people.
57. According to the passage, we remember about 90% of what we ______.
A. read B. hear
C. teach to others D. write down once
58. What does the underlined word "connect" in Paragraph 3 probably mean
A. Link. B. Cut.
C. Hide. D. Sell.
59. Why is spaced review better than doing nothing
A. Because we forget most new information within a day. B. Because it takes less time.
C. Because it needs no tools. D. Because teachers ask for it.
60. What does the writer compare memory to in the last sentence
A. A magic trick. B. A habit.
C. A test. D. A machine.

九、完成任务(共 5 小题;每小题 3 分,满分 15 分)
阅读下面短文,根据短文内容完成任务。
A 2025 review in the International Journal of Current Science Research and Review studied the link between study habits and school results. It found that students with good habits are far more likely to get higher grades. In another study of 305 junior high school students, good study habits explained more than half of the differences in students' school performance.
The review points to active learning as the most useful habit. Students who quiz themselves, explain ideas to others or write short summaries scored much higher than those who just read their notes again. Spacing out study over several days also helps: in one study, students who practised maths problems over three weeks scored 21 percentage points higher than those who did all the problems at once.
Sleep matters just as much. A large 2025 study of 86,127 teenagers found that students who slept about eight hours a night performed best, while those who slept fewer than six hours scored the lowest. The benefit was greatest in hard subjects like maths and science. Experts advise teenagers to get eight to ten hours of sleep a night.
Finally, the review suggests keeping the study place quiet. Families are advised to turn off the TV, put phones away during study time, and set a simple rule: no screens until the homework is done.

【范文】
Many students think a good memory is something we are born with. But I have learned that memory is a skill that can be trained. In my opinion, two ways matter most. First, we should get enough sleep, because the brain stores what we learn while we sleep. Second, we need to review at the right time instead of waiting until the night before. I plan to go to bed before ten o'clock and review my notes shortly after class every day. With these habits, I am sure I can remember more and learn better. Memory is not magic — it is a habit we build every day.
