资源简介 Unit 5 Power of IdeasSection A (1a-1d)I. Teaching Aims1. Students can learn the new words about inventions (invention, plane, camera, laptop, mobile phone, TV, high-speed train) and know the topic question "What changes can inventions bring to our lives ".2. Students can understand the main idea of the two conversations, identify the inventions Super See and Smart Cook, and complete the tasks in 1b and 1c.3. Students can use "be used for / be used to do" and "How do they work " to talk about what an invention can be used for, and share their own ideas about inventions with a partner.II. Key and Difficult PointsKey points: The words and phrases about inventions, and the useful patterns "What can it be used for It's for people who can't see well." and "How does it work ". Listening for the main idea and for the details of the two inventions.Difficult points: Understanding the spoken descriptions of Super See and Smart Cook from the recording, and using "be used for / be used to do" correctly to describe an invention of one's own.III. Teaching ToolsTextbook (Student's Book, p.42); blackboard and colored pens; The recording of the two conversations and an audio player;Pictures of the inventions in 1a; printouts of 1b and 1c for each group;A computer and PPT (optional); a dictionary.IV. Teaching ProceduresStep 1: Lead-in (5 mins)Teacher shows the picture of the high-speed train on the first page of the unit and asks: "What changes can inventions bring to our lives "Students look at the picture and say some inventions they already know. Teacher writes the topic question on the blackboard.[Purpose] To lead in the topic of inventions, activate the words students already know and get them interested in today's lesson.Step 2: Pre-listening — 1a (6 mins)Teacher asks students to match the names with the things in 1a (plane, camera, laptop, mobile phone, TV, high-speed train) and find out when they were invented.Teacher helps students read the new words and checks the answers with the whole class.[Purpose] To clear the new words before listening and to prepare students for the topic of inventions.Step 3: While-listening — 1b (8 mins)Teacher plays the recording and asks students to choose the invention each conversation talks about and find out where they are from.Students listen for the main idea, then check in pairs: Conversation 1 is about Super See, and Conversation 2 is about Smart Cook.[Purpose] To train students to listen for the main idea and the key information of each conversation.Step 4: While-listening — 1c (8 mins)Teacher plays the recording again. Students listen and circle T or F for the five statements about Super See and Smart Cook.Teacher asks students to give the sentences they hear to support their answers, then checks the answers.[Purpose] To train students to listen for details and to understand how the two inventions work.Step 5: Post-listening and Speaking — 1d (10 mins)Teacher asks: "What can the two inventions be used for How do they work " Students talk about them in pairs using "be used for" and "for people who...".Some pairs share their talk with the class. Then students think of another invention and describe what it can be used for.[Purpose] To help students use the target language to talk about inventions and improve their speaking.Step 6: Summary and Homework (3 mins)Teacher and students go over the new words and the patterns "What can it be used for " and "How does it work ".Homework: write two or three sentences about an invention that helps people, using "be used for".[Purpose] To summarize the lesson and check whether students can use the language after class.V. Blackboard DesignUnit 5 Power of Ideas — Section A (1a-1d)Topic question: What changes can inventions bring to our lives Key words: invention / invent / camera / laptop / high-speed train / sunglasses / button / dishSentence patterns: What can it be used for It is used for people who can't see well. / How does it work Super See: a pair of special glasses + a mini-camera → help people who can't see well readSmart Cook: press a button → cook hundreds of kinds of dishes六、教学反思本课以发明为话题,整体完成较顺利,多数学生能听懂两段对话的主旨并完成1b、1c。 What can it be used for It's used for..."句型支架,同桌先互说再举手展示,并对后进生提出至少说完整一句的最低要求。 展开更多...... 收起↑ 资源预览
