Meimei: Hello, everyone! Finally, here comes the exciting 4×
100 m relay! I’m Song Meimei.
Adam: This is Adam. Welcome to the 4×100 m relay.
Meimei: Look. The runners are at the starting line. The race is
about to start.
Adam: They’re off! Wang Yaming for Class 1 takes the lead.
Meimei: He passes the baton to Peter. Peter keeps the lead. Now for the handoff to Han Lin.
Adam: Oh, no! Peter drops the baton! Han Lin picks it up! But
the other runners run past him.

Today’s 4×100 m relay was so exciting! Wang Yaming from Class 1 took the lead at the start and passed the baton smoothly to Peter. Peter kept the lead and ran strongly towards Han Lin for the next handoff. But then disaster struck! Peter dropped the baton! Han Lin quickly picked it up, but other runners had already passed him. Li Lei from Class 5 took the lead.
However, Han Lin didn’t give up. He made up ground on Li Lei as they ran. When the final handoff came, Li Lei passed his baton to Xie Tao and Han Lin passed his to Teng Fei. The two final runners raced side by side towards the finish line. It was so close that nobody could tell who won! The judges had to watch the video to decide. Finally, they announced that Teng Fei crossed the line first. Class 1 won the relay despite dropping the baton. What an exciting race!
