二、阅读理解
The 2025 Spring Festival Gala (联欢会) brought us a super cool show with robots! In a special dance, 16 robots and 16 dancers danced together. It was a mix of modern technology and traditional art that really caught everyone’s eyes.
The robots looked so cute in their colourful traditional clothes, waving red handkerchiefs (手帕) just like real dancers. How could they do so well They used AI to “listen” to the music and move their bodies. They could even change how they moved when the music changed. And the most interesting part was that their handkerchiefs weren’t stuck on their hands! They had a smart way to throw and catch the handkerchiefs, just like the dancers.
Making this show happen wasn’t easy. The people who made the robots worked really hard. They used a special programme to teach the robots. First, they recorded dancers’ moves. Then, they turned those moves into commands for the robots. They tried many different moves and tested the moves again and again. Each move of the robots was the result of a lot of teamwork.
This show didn’t just make us say “Wow!” It also showed us how technology and art can work together. It made us think about all the cool things we can do in the future with robots and art.

At just 17, Wang Guanxi, a student from the Experimental High School Attached to Beijing Normal University, created an intelligent climbing-assistance device called “ExoLimb”. He won a national utility model patent (专利) for it. This helps people with mobility issues (行动障碍), especially the elderly, to climb stairs and mountains.
★ He used to love playing with her, but as she got older, her legs became weaker, making it hard for her to climb the stairs to their sixth-floor home. To help his grandmother and others like her, Wang started studying how people climb stairs.
“I first thought lifting the thigh (大腿) was the primary challenge,” said Wang. He tested this by asking his parents to help lift his thighs while climbing stairs, but it didn’t make climbing easier.
Wang used slow-motion (慢动作) video recordings to understand better, showing two important parts in each step: lifting the thigh and standing upright. “The key moment came when I realized that the later part, where the leg on the upper step bears the body’s weight, required a lot of support,” noted Wang.
Wang had to solve many problems while making his invention. Wang changed his focus to a device that supports the person during the key part of standing upright. With his father’s help, Wang built a device using gears (齿轮) and motors. He added a special switch to stop the device once the leg is fully upright to prevent unnecessary strain (压力).
Looking ahead, Wang plans to make a start-up to sell ExoLimb. “I believe that business is very important to engineering, and bringing these two fields together is what will drive innovation,” added Wang.

What’s your favourite sleeping position (姿势) On your back On your side How about standing up Unless you happen to be a giraffe, I’d never have thought anyone would choose the last one. But now, thanks to a Japanese company, people can try the new sleeping way.
Giraffenap is invented to allow users to take a rest while standing when they feel tired or sleepy at work. In an introduction to the nap (打盹) box, the company says that it will allow the user to become active again in just 20 minutes.
But why does it have to be standing The company interprets that studies have shown a fact. Sleeping while standing helps people breathe easily. When they wake up, they can feel the advantages of a nap without having to sleep too much. And they can quickly return to work without feeling tired. Making the box stand upright means that it takes up half of the floor space.
Wouldn’t a man just fall down if he tried to sleep while standing Of course not. Inside the box, there are four points to support the body-head, buttocks, legs and feet. So he can rest his arms, legs and head in the box while still remaining upright.
Giraffenap has been made in two different styles. They’re expected to go on sale in a few years. So when that time comes, people can try sleeping while standing up-just like giraffes do.
