Most students usually spend their summer vacation enjoying themselves at home or visiting some places of interest. However, nine-year-old Harry Peksa will ride his bike for the rest of his summer holidays. His task is to cycle from John o'Groats in the north of Scotland to Land's End at the western tip of Cornwall Peninsula, England. This is a famous cycling route that crosses the UK and is a journey that Harry has experienced before, only the other way round.
Last year, Harry and his dad travelled 1,300 miles from Cornwall to Scotland, raising ￡15,000 for sick and hurt animals, especially for hedgehogs （刺猬）.This year, Harry hopes to raise ￡25,000 for charity and find some of other wildlife along the way. Harry loves cycling in Scotland for its beautiful geography conditions and the smells of wet plants. There is one problem, though.“I am afraid of the hills,” said Harry.“But to reach my aim, I can get over all the difficulties,” he added.
To pass the time, Harry and his dad will play “Animal, Vegetable, Mineral （矿石）” as they cycle, and they have become quite creative. Harry has kept inventing new kinds of deer with extra antlers （角） to make it much harder for his dad to guess.
They will eat whatever they like too. Harry says what keeps him going is the promise of a really good cheese hamburger at the end of the journey.
