It’s a popular belief that fish can’t remember anything for longer than seven seconds. It may seem sad to think
that they don’t remember what they’ve eaten or where they’ve been, and that they don’t recognize you or any of
their friends—every moment in their lives would be like seeing the world for the first time.
But don’t be so quick to feel sorry for them. A study has found that fish have much better memories than we
used to think. In fact, certain kinds of fish can even remember events from up to 12 days ago.
In the study, researchers from MacEwan University in Canada trained a kind of fish called African cichlids (慈
鲷) to go to a certain area of their tank (鱼缸) to get food. They then waited for 12 days before putting them back in
the tank again. They found that after such a long break the fish still went to the same place where they first got food.
This suggested that they could remember their past experiences.
Just as a good memory can make our lives easier, it also plays an important part when a fish is trying to live in
the wild. “If fish are able to remember that a certain area has safe food, they will be able to go back to that area
without putting their lives in danger,” the lead researcher Trevor Hamilton told Live Science.
24. What is the popular belief about fish
A Fish can’t remember things for longer than 7 seconds.
B. Fish can only remember part of their experiences.
C. Fish can remember things that happened 12 days ago.
25. What can we know about African cichlids according to the study
A. They know where to run away and keep safe.
B. They can find their enemies and fight with them.
C. They can remember where they first got food after some time.
26. What is the purpose of the text
A. To discuss the intelligence of fish.
B. To introduce the good memories of fish.
C. To introduce different kinds of fish.
27. Which part of the newspaper is the article taken from
A. Travel. B. Culture. C. Science.

The Feynman Technique(费曼学习法) was created by a famous physicist named Richard Feynman. It is a way
of studying that helps students learn by teaching someone else. This method helps you truly understand a topic, not
just remember facts. Unlike simply reading textbooks again and again, it makes you take an active part in learning.
If you want to try the Feynman Technique, here’s how to do it:
Step 1, choose one topic you want to learn. It’s better to focus on one thing at a time. If you try to learn too
many things, you may not understand any of them well.
Step 2, try to explain the topic in simple words, as if you were teaching a primary school student. Use easy
language and examples. This step helps you break down big ideas into small parts.
Step 3, look back at your explanation. See if there is any part that is still difficult or unclear. It can be useful to
ask a friend or family member to listen and tell you what they don’t understand.
Step 4, improve your explanation based on what you found in Step 3. Make everything as clear as possible.
Step 5, repeat all the steps. Doing it once is often not enough. The more you repeat, the better you will
understand.
When you feel you’ve learned the topic well, don’t forget to reward yourself. You can eat something you like,
listen to music, or just relax!
28. What is die main advantage of the Feynman Technique
A. It helps students read textbooks faster.
B. It makes students remember facts easily.
C. It helps students truly understand a topic.
29. In Step 2, who do you imagine teaching when you explain the topic
A. A high school student. B. A famous scientist. C. A 10-year-old girl.

第一节 (共 5小题;每小题 2分,满分 10分)
Many students read English in silence: But experts say reading aloud is a very useful habit. Here are some
reasons.
First, reading aloud helps your pronunciation. When you speak, your mouth makes the sounds again and again.
In this way, you remember not only the shape of the word, but also its sound.
Second, reading aloud improves your confidence. At first, you may feel shy. But when you practice in front of
a mirror every day, you will become braver. Many good speakers started by reading aloud at home.
Third, reading aloud helps you feel the rhythm of the language. English has its own music. When you read
aloud, you will notice which words are stressed and where to pause.
How long should you read every day Experts suggest fifteen to twenty minutes is enough. You can read texts
from your textbook, or short stories you love. You can also read to your parents or your pets. The more you practice,
the better you will feel.
Start reading aloud tomorrow morning, and you will be surprised by your progress in just a few weeks.
