Your rights at home and at school
Grown-ups are always telling kids what to do. Do you listen to them Usually they know what is best for you, but sometimes they can be wrong.
So, China has a special law to keep people under 18 safe. It is called the Underage Protection Law(《未成年人保护法》)。
How the law works
Teachers can punish bad students, but they cannot just do anything they like. If a teacher tries to kick you out of class, you can go to the headmaster and tell him you have the right to stay in school.
School buildings and playgrounds must also be safe for children. If the things you use in P.E. class are unsafe, the Underage Protection Law says the school must fix them or get new ones. Do you know anyone who can’t go to school because their parents aren’t willing to pay for it This is also against the law, which says parents must have their kids in school.
Kids have a right to privacy(私隐)under the law, which says parents and teachers cannot read children’s own letters.
The law also protects children’s health. It says there should be now smoking in schools and other places where many teenagers go.
Have you ever wondered why tickets for parks and museums are cheaper for students It’s also because of the Underage Protection Law. It says that kids need to have lots of chances to learn.

How to make your own Internet page
It’s easy to make your own Internet page. The easiest way is to use a special programme called a “web editor”. You can find these programmes on the Internet.
First think about some things to put on your Internet page by looking at other people’s pages. You need to put your Internet page on a bigger computer called a “host” which stores the pages so that other people can see them. These computers are owned by special Internet companies. Your programme may be able to help you find a host computer which you can use for free, but some companies will charge money for this.
To make your Internet page, start up the programme and write some text in the window, then use the signs you can see on the computer to put in pictures and make the text larger or smaller, and change the way your page looks.
You can also put photos on your Internet page. First, you need to put the photo in your computer, then use your mouse to move the photo to the place you want it. Choose the correct sign for putting photos onto the page, then find the name of your photo in your computer. When you’ve found it, choose that one with your mouse and put your photo on your Internet page.
You can also put signs on your Internet page to join it to other people’s pages. Visitors to your page can follow these signs to find out more about a subject. For example, if your page includes some information about Madonna, you could put on a sign that takes you to the page for her fan club.
When you have completed your Internet page, you can put it on the Internet. After you put your page on the Internet, anyone will be able to see it.

VI. 书面表达(共10分)
阅读下面这篇文章,拟写一份倡仪书:
Reading books is a good hobby for all kinds of reasons.
First, reading books is fun. You can always keep yourself amused if you like reading. This is especially useful when the weather is bad. It is a relaxing hobby too. You can really become lost in a book.
Next, you can read a book almost anywhere: in a car, in a waiting-room, on a plane, in bed-even in the bath. All you need is a book! Reading is a convenient hobby as it is easy to stop and then start again.
Another good reason for reading books is that it is useful. If you read as a hobby you will get better and better at it. This means that you will read faster and will become better at understanding what you read. As your reading improves, you will probably find your schoolwork becomes much easier. Many school subjects depend on good reading and, as you read, you learn more and more.
Some people say that reading is out of date. This is not true. You have to be able to read to use a computer and, the better you read, the better your computer skills will be. Reading is hardly out of date!
Good readers are most likely to be good writers, too. They are usually good at spelling as well, and have more things to write about. Reading books is a wonderful hobby, one of the best. What other hobby could be more useful, or more enjoyable!
