Teacher shows some pictures .
T: What is she going to be when she grows up
S1 guesses: She is going to be a doctor .
T: (Another picture ) What is he going to be when he grows up
S2 guesses :He is going to be singer .
S3 guesses: He is going to be a musician .
S4: He is going to be a pianist .
T: let’s have a look together ,right ,he is going to be a pianist \musician,read after me ,pianist ,pianist .
SS: Pianist ,pianist
T: (Another picture ) what is he going to be when he grows up
S5: He is going to be a cooker .
T: cooker ,or cook
Ss: Cook .
T: cook means 厨师, cooker means 炊具,understand
SS: Yes .
T: What is the girl going to be when she grows up
S6: She is going to be a pilot .
Step 2 : learn 3a on Page 61
Teacher shows the picture of Tiantian ,induce the new class.
T: This is my cousin ,her name is Tiantian, is he lovely
SS: Yes.
T: What’s she doing now
SS: She is drawing .
T: She likes writing a diary ,now here is a diary of her ,please read fast and answer the following questions .
Teacher asks ss to read the questions out :
1.What’s Tian Tian’s dream job
2.Where is she going to work
3.Where is she going to retire in the future
T: I will give you two minutes ,ok, begins
Ss read the passage .
Two minutes later .

Teacher induces the students to underline the following words .

Teacher and students finish the exercises together .
Teacher show the pictures of Philps (Talking something about Philps as showing the pictures at the same time ).
T: Who is he
SS: Philps .
T: What do you know about him
SS: He is a wonderful swimmer , he can swim very fast .
SS: He wins many medals .

T: He began to swim at the age of seven , he practices swimming hard every day, he is more diligent than any other swimmer in the world . He is so hard-working that he wins so many medals (Teacher shows his medals ).
Here is a passage about Philps ,please read it quickly and answer the questions .
Ss read the following questions :
1.When was Phelps born
2.How long did he swim every day
3.How many gold medals has he got since he began to swim
4.Is it easy for him to be successful (成功的)
5.What you can learn from Michael Phelps
(About five minutes later ,check the answers )
T: After learning about Philps ,what do you learn from Philps
S1: Philps wins so many medals ,because he is very hard-working ,so I should be hard-working .
S2 : it’s not easy to win medals .

T: ( lead ss to know that achieving success is not easy ,
you must pay a lot before you gain)
From Philps we can learn that :( read together with ss )
1. Nothing is difficult to the man who will try. 世上无难事,只要肯攀登。
2. Success grows out of struggles to overcome difficulties. 成功源于努力去克服困难
3. No pains, no gains. 没有付出就没有收获。
4. Where there is a will, there is a way. 有志者事竟成。
T: Do you want to be successful . What’s your dream job A swimmer , too Please write a diary ,too.
You must write down what your dream job is , why you will be that ,where you are going to work and how you are going to do that , Pay much attention to the form ,because it’s a diary .
Teacher gives 4-5minutes to the students to write down (most students can write quickly )
After 4-5 minutes , ask 2-3studetns to read his \her diary out , finally teacher shows an example :

When I grow up , I am going to be a pilot . Because I think this job is very exciting and interesting . I want to fly in the sky, it must be very wonderful. To become a great pilot , I am going to exercise every day and keep healthy . I will learn more about science and I will study harder . I am sure i will be a good pilot . I am going to work in Beijing and retire in my hometown .
