1. 作宾语
动词不定式(短语)可以放在一些动词后面用作宾语,常见的
能以动词不定式作宾语的动词有:
want, would like, hope, decide, plan,choose, agree, refuse,
fail, pretend, hate, like, try, ask, start, begin, learn, forget,
remember, wish, can’t wait, can’t afford 。
e.g. I want to tell you a story.

2. 作宾语补足语
动词不定式位于及物动词的宾语后,补充说明宾语所做的动作。可以用动词不定式作宾补的动词,分为三种情况:
1) 不可以省to的不定式作宾补的动词,常见的有:
want, would like, tell, ask, like, order, get, wish, allow, teach, invite, encourage, expect, suppose 等。
e.g. The teacher asked us to read English half an hour.
My father often tell me not to play computer games.

2. 作宾语补足语
语法讲析
2) 感官动词see, watch, hear, feel, notice等或使役动词let,
have, make用省to的不定式作宾补。
I saw them play basketball on the playground yesterday.
I often hear the girl singing in the next room.

【注】feel, hear, look at, listen to, notice, observe, sense, see, watch 等表示感官或感觉的动词还可跟现在分词作宾补。

I often help my mother (to) do housework.
【区别】
感官动词后接不定式做宾补时,表示动作的全过程已结束;后接分词做宾补时,表示动作的一部分正在进行。

3. 作状语
语法讲析
1) 作目的状语。表示谓语动词动作的目的, 为了强调,也可放于句首。可用in order to 或 so as to 代替。so as to不用于句首。
She came back to get her English book.
I went there to see my teacher.
2) 作结果状语。
The boy was too frightened to move.
She is old enough to go to school.

3) 作原因状语。
动词不定式作原因状语,位于某些表示喜怒哀乐等形容词
之后,来解释此情感产生的原因。
They were very sad to hear the news.

4. 作定语
语法讲析
动词不定式作定语,应放到所修饰词之后,一般与所修
饰的词在逻辑上存在着动宾关系,所以动词不定式中的动
词应为及物动词。若是不及物动词, 需要加适当的介词。

He asked for a room to live in.
I don't have a pen to write with.

5. 疑问词+不定式
语法讲析
疑问代词who, what, which和疑问副词 where, when, how
后面可动词不定式构成不定式短语, 相当于名词, 在句中可
作主语、表语、宾语、宾语补足语等。
When to start hasn't been decided. (主语)
I don’t know what to do. (宾语)
He can tell you where to get the book. (宾语补足语)
The question is who(m) to ask. (表语)
【注】why 后跟省to的动词不定式。

6. 不定式作形式主语
语法讲析
动词不定式作形式主语有两个句型:
1) It + be + adj. (+ for/of sb. ) + 动词不定式.
e.g. It is important for us to protect the environment.
保护环境对我们来说很重要。
2) It takes/took sb. + 一段时间 + 动词不定式.
e.g. It took me half an hour to finish the hard work.
(It做形式主语,真正的主语为后面的不定式。)
