Hello.We are students from Thailand, and we want to save the elephants.The elephant is one of Thailand's symbols. Our first flag had a white elephant on it. This is a symbol of good luck.

Elephants are smart animals. They can play soccer or music. They can also draw very well. People say that“an elephant never forgets”. Elephants can walk for a long time and never get lost. They can also remember places with food and water. This helps them to live.
But elephants are in great danger.People cut down many trees so elephants are losing their homes. People also kill elephants for their ivory. Today there are only 3,000 elephants (over 100,000 before). We must save the trees and not buy things made of ivory. Remember that March 13th is Thai Elephant Day.

3. 1) lost 作为形容词，表示“走失的；迷路的；失散的”、“丢失的；遗失的”，常与系动词get 或be 一同构成短语，表示“丢失；走失；迷路”。例如：

I got lost on my way here and had to ask the police for help. 我在来这的路上迷路了，不得不向警察求助。
2) lost 还经常直接用于名词之前，作定语修饰名词。例如：
a lost child 走丢了的孩子
the lost tourists 迷了路的游客们
a lost watch 一块遗失的手表
4. (be) in danger 表示“在危险中” 例如：
Firefighters are often in great danger.
消防员常常处于很危险的境地。
英语中，常用形容词big或great 与danger搭配，表示“巨大的危险”。
(be) out of danger, 表示“脱离危险”。

5. cut down 砍倒，减少，降低，缩短
