第二部分
阅读理解(共两节,满分30分)
第一节(共10小题;每小题2分,满分20分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项,并在答题纸上将该项涂黑。
A
I
work
at
a
grocery
store
in
Montreal's
Plateau
neighbourhood,which
gets
a
lot
of
regulars.On
March
12,the
Quebec
government
announced
to
close
all
public
places
to
stop
the
spread
of
the
pandemic(流行病)of
coronavirus.
The
next
day
the
store
was
the
busiest
I've
ever
seen.The
six
cash
registers
had
to
be
kept
open
from
10
a.m.until
close
It
was
nuts.I
didn't
have
time
to
eat
lunch,and
whenever
one
of
us
on
cash
had
to
use
the
bathroom,we
d
have
to
bring
in
a
coworker
off
the
floor
to
cover
for
us.
Since
then,the
atmosphere
in
the
store
has
been
different.Customers
are
mostly
considerate,but
whenever
someone
coughs
or
sneezes,everyone
turns
around
to
make
sure
that
person
sneezed
into
their
elbow.I've
even
seen
customers
come
in
wearing
some
strange
get-ups.One
guy
even
came
in
with
a
plastic
Walmart
bag
wrapped
around
his
entire
head,with
a
slit
cut
out
for
his
eyes.
A
lot
of
my
coworkers
have
left
to
avoid
a
public-facing
job
during
the
pandemic.Grocery
store
workers
across
Canada
are
putting
their
health
at
risk
every
time
they
come
in
to
work,but
a
lot
of
us
are
still
making
close
to
minimum
wage.I
realized
that
I
feel
more
exhausted
than
normal
even
though
I'm
working
the
same
hours.
There
still
have
been
some
moments
of
kindness
in
the
midst
of
the
chaos.I've
overheard
people
talking
on
the
phone
who
sounded
as
though
they
were
organizing
grocery
deliveries
for
those
stuck
at
home.And
this
past
weekend
a
very
nice
lady
thanked
us
for
continuing
to
work.I
know
everyone
is
worried,but
it's
useless
having
the
same
scary
conversations
day
after
day.Instead,tell
us
a
funny
anecdote,or
about
something
nice.We'll
appreciate
the
distraction,and
you'll
make
our
day
just
a
bit
brighter.
21.What
does
the
author
intend
to
show
by"It
was
nuts."in
paragraph
2?
A.The
goods
were
in
short
supply.
B.The
store
was
having
a
big
sale.
C.The
cashiers
complained
about
their
work.
D.The
locals
rushed
to
do
shopping
like
crazy.
22.What
does
paragraph
3
convey
about
customers?
A.They
like
to
shop
here
in
disguise.
B.They
are
panicky
about
the
disease.
C.They
are
more
friendly
to
each
other.
D.They
have
taken
proper
preventive
measures.
23
What
is
the
best
title
for
the
text?
A.It
is
not
work
but
worry
that
kills
B.Helping
others
is
helping
ourselves
C.Moments
of
kindness
shine
in
a
time
of
chaos
D.Here
is
what
it's
like
working
in
the
pandemic
B
Sometimes
we
may
find
that
every
week
there
are
a
lot
of
new
stories
about
how
climate
change
is
affecting
the
planet,or
new
plans
to
battle
its
effects.But
the
concept
itself
isn't
new
at
all-in
fact,
scientists
have
been
exploring
questions
about
climate
change
for
almost
200
years.
The
idea
of"greenhouse
gases”goes
back
to
1824,when
Joseph
Fourier
wondered
what
was
regulating
the
earth's
temperature.Fourier
concluded
that
the
atmosphere
must
be
responsible
for
containing
the
heat
absorbed
from
the
sun
and
described
it
as
a
box
with
a
glass
lid:As
light
shines
through
the
glass,the
inside
gets
warmer
as
the
lid
traps
the
heat.As
Fourier's
ideas
spread,it
came
to
be
called“the
greenhouse
effect”。
Scientists
continued
to
study
the
greenhouse
effect.Not
until
a
Swedish
chemist
named
Svante
Arrhenius
came
along,did
scientists
understand
how
global
warming
actually
works.After
years
of
work,
Arrhenius
determined
that
the
evel
of
carbon
dioxide
in
the
atmosphere
did
in
fact
have
a
direct
effect
on
global
temperatures.
Arrhenius
found
that
CO2,and
other
gases
trap
radiation,which
warms
the
atmosphere.Arrhenius
was
the
first
to
suspect
that
burning
coal
could
contribute
to
the
greenhouse
effect.But
Arrhenius
welcomed
the
warming
effect
on
the
planet.At
a
lecture
later
that
year,Arrhenius
noted
that
creatures
of
a
warmer
earth“might
live
under
a
milder
sky
and
in
less
barren
surroundings”。
While
Arrhenius
'findings
won
him
the
1903
Nobel
Prize
in
chemistry,scientists
kept
debating
whether
the
greenhouse
effect
was
increasing
until
1950,when
researchers
finally
began
to
find
strong
data
supporting
it.By
the
end
of
the
1950s,American
scientists
had
bee
n
sounding
the
alarm
on
the
long-term
consequences
of
climate
change.Climate
change
research
has
come
a
long
way
since
Fourier
first
described
the
greenhouse
effect-still,maybe
Arrhenius
should
have
been
more
careful
of
what
he
wished
for.
24.What
does
the
underlined
word“it”in
Paragraph
2
refer
to?
A.The
climate
change.
B.The
greenhouse
effect.
C.The
atmosphere.
D.The
heat
from
the
sun.
25.What's
the
author's
attitude
towards
Arrhenius'
wish?
A.Optimistic.
B.Negative.
C.Neutral.
D.Ambiguous.
26.What's
the
main
idea
of
the
text?
A.Causes
of
climate
change.
B.Effects
of
greenhouse
gases.
C.Findings
about
global
warming.
D.Explorations
on
climate
change.
C
Erik
Kobayashi-Solomon
spent
a
day
with
Dr.Paul
Gauthier,a
plant
physiologist
specializing
in
vertical
farming
research
and
came
away
with
several
important
ideas
about
vertical
farming.
Humans
have
12,000
years
of
experience
growing
food,but
only
a
generation
or
so
worth
of
experience
growing
crops
indoors.We
are
still
progressing
up
the
technology
learning
curve(学习曲线).What's
more,traditional
farming
techniques
are
based
on
conditions
that
are
not
applicable
to
vertical
farming.Therefore,without
taking
time
to
understand
the
science,vertical
farming
is
not
likely
to
be
able
to
live
up
to
its
implied
promises.
The
cost
of
powering
LED
grow
lights
is
one
of
the
biggest
problems
a
vertical
farm
must
overcome
Dr.Louis
Albright
at
Cornell
has
characterized
vertical
farms
as"pie-in-the-sky"businesses.He
famously
calculates,for
instance,that
the
cost
of
a
loaf
of
bread
would
be$24
if
farmed
indoors-the
cost
is
too
high.Gauthier
acknowledges
that
energy
prices
are
high
but
points
out
that
scientific
work
has
shown
that
only
about
6%of
available
sunlight
is
used
in
crop
photosynthesis(光合作用),so
there
may
be
ways
of
growing
the
same
plants
with
less
light.
Gauthier
also
points
out
that
while
energy
costs
are
a
bit
high,vertical
farming
does
create
high
efficiencies
in
other
areas.Water
usage
may
be
significantly
reduced
because
the
same
water
can
be
recycled
time
and
again.Fertilizer
use
can
be
greatly
reduced
and
pesticides
for,pest
control
are
unnecessary.It's
clear
that
vertical
farming
offers
real
value
to
society.
The
future
is
probably
mixed.In
some
environments-the
Middle
East,for
instance-a
move
to
vertical
farming
is
a
no-brainer.An
indoor
farm
in
Saudi
Arabia,for
instance,can
use
solar
energy
to
power
LEDs
at
low
cost
without
shading
out
other
farmland.In
other
geographies,though,the
expense
of
establishing
a
facility
places
a
high
bar
on
growth
and
profitability.A
large
vertical
fanning
and
equipment
operation
only
started
generating
a
small
profit
eight
years
into
its
nine-year
life.
27.What
can
we
infer
about
vertical
farming
in
Paragraph
2?
A.It
will
replace
traditional
farming
one
day.
B.It
relies
on
research
of
more
basic
science.
C.It
can
be
applicable
on
different
conditions.
D.It
actually
came
into
being
12,000
years'
ago.
28.What
does
Dr.Albright
think
of
vertical
farms?
A.They
use
less
light
than
traditional
ones.
B.They
may
seem
very
unlikely
to
succeed.
C.They
can
overcome
many
problems
in
farming.
D.They
do
not
need
any
natural
sunlight
any
longer.
29
What
is
the
fourth
paragraph
mainly
about?
A
The
ways
of
reducing
costs
of
vertical
fanning.
B.The
secrets
of
developing
vertical
farming.
C.The
recent
trend
of
vertical
farming.
D.The
benefits
of
vertical
farming.
30.Why
is
the
example
of"an
indoor
farm
in
Saudi
Arabia"mentioned?
A.To
show
vertical
fanning
can
work
well
in
some
places.
B.To
prove
solar
energy
is
vital
for
farming
in
Saudi
Arabia.
C.To
confirm
the
expense
of
setting
up
a
vertical
farm
is
high.
D.To
argue
vegetables
do
not
need
to
be
imported
any
longer.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Travelling
with
friends
can
be
an
absolutely
amazing
experience
where
you
could
make
lifelong
memories
or
it
could
end
up
ruining
your
friendship.
31
Here
are
some
rules
you
should
follow
to
make
sure
your
next
trip
with
friends
goes
as
smoothly
as
possible.
32
Sure,you
and
your
friends
probably
have
some
similar
interests,but
that's
not
always
the
case.In
an
effort
to
keep
everyone
happy,go
over
travel
plans
and
expectations
ahead
of
time.Have
each
person
categorize
activities
or
sights
into"must-see"want
to
see"and"would
go
if
we
have
time".Plan
accordingly
and
make
sure
everyone
can
see
some
of
their
top
attractions.
Communicate
and
respect
each
other.Everyone
has
personal
preferences
when
travelling-from
getting
the
bed
closest
to
the
bathroom
or
sitting
in
the
airplane's
window
seat.But
sometimes
things
don't
go
as
you
like.In
this
case,share
your
requirements
directly
with
your
travel
companions.
33
have
a
conversation
when
problems
arise,for
communication
is
the
key.
Don't
disappear.When
travelling
with
a
group-or
even
just
one
other
person-you
may
want
some
alone
time.That's
completely
fine,but
make
sure
your
friends
know
where
you
are
and
have
a
way
of
contacting
you.34
Get
off
your
phone.Of
course,your
friends
will
understand
if
you
need
to
take
a
call
from
a
family
member,or
in
the
event
of
a
work
emergency,but
other
than
that,try
to
stay
off
your
phone,
35
After
all,
the
appeal
of
this
type
of
trip
is
to
spend
time
with
friends.Just
enjoy
it!
A.Give
each
other
some
space.
B.Include
at
least
one
activity
for
everyone.
C.And
remember
that
consideration
and
respect
go
a
long
way.
D.At
the
same
time,listen
to
their
concerns
and
be
respectful
of
them.
E.Don't
respond
to
non-urgent
work
contact
or
send
messages
frequently.
F.It's
especially
true
of
travelling
in
foreign
countries
or
unfamiliar
places.
G.So
it's
important
to
make
sure
you
and
your
friend(s)are
on
the
same
page.
第三部分
语言运用(共两节,满分30分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。
A
scientist
36
several
monkeys
in
order
to
study
animal
psychology.He
took
a
glass
bottle,
37
its
cork(瓶塞)and
put
two
peanuts
inside
it.The
peanuts
dropped
to
the
bottom
and
were
easily
seen
from
the
outside.He
then
passed
the
bottle
to
a
monkey,who
shook
it
38
for
a
long
while
and
was
able
to
get
the
peanuts
when
they
39
fell
out.The
scientist
then
put
some
peanuts
into
the
bottle
again
40
he
had
done
before
and
showed
the
monkey
that
it
only
needed
to
turn
the
bottle
upside
down
for
the
peanuts
to
drop
out.
41
the
monkey
always
ignored
his
42.
Each
time
it
just
shook
the
bottle
frantically,with
great
43
but
without
necessarily
achieving
44
result.
Now
the
question
is
why
the
monkey
was
unable
to
understand
45
the
scientist
instructs.
46
because
all
its
attentions
was
focused
on
the
peanuts.Instead,it
must
take
its
eyes
off
the
peanuts
and
quickly
47
its
attention
to
the
48
movement
of
the
scientist
and
the
way
the
bottle
was
turned
upside
down.To
achieve
this,it
had
to
calm
down
and
not
be
49
by
the
impulse(诱惑)of
its
appetite.Yet
the
monkey
was
not
able
to
understand
this.It
is
the
instance
like
this
that
reveals
the
monkey's
some
psychology
is
just
like
50
of
human
beings.

读后续写(满分25分)
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
Robert
and
Henry
were
two
friends
in
the
same
class.They
always
played
together
and
went
home
together.One
day,Robert
and
Henry
were
going
home
from
school,when,on
turning
a
corner,Robert
cried
out,“A
fight!Let's
go
and
see!”
“No,"said
Henry."Let
us
go
quietly
home
and
not
meddle
with(插手)this
quarrel.We
have
nothing
to
do
with
it
and
may
get
into
trouble.Also
our
parents
are
expecting
to
have
dinner
with
us
together
at
home
and
I
don't
want
them
to
worry
about
me."
“You
are
a
coward,and
afraid
to
go,"said
Robert,and
off
he
ran.Henry
went
straight
home,
and
in
the
afternoon
went
to
school
as
usual.
But
Robert
had
told
all
the
boys
that
Henry
was
a
coward,and
they
laughed
at
him
a
great
deal.From
then
on,they
looked
down
upon
Henry
and
didn't
want
to
play
with
him
together.
Henry
was
sad
but
he
wasn't
angry
with
Robert
for
his
rude
behavior,because
he
learned
that
true
courage
is
shown
most
in
bearing
misunderstanding
when
it
was
not
deserved,and
that
he
ought
to
be
afraid
of
nothing
but
doing
wrong.Thus,he
just
ignored
the
other
boys'
laughter
and
continued
to
go
to
school
and
study
as
well.However,Robert
didn't
invite
Henry
to
go
home
with
him
anymore.Instead,
he
had
some
other
boys
who
also
thought
Henry
was
a
coward.Every
day
after
school,they
didn't
go
home
directly
but
went
to
the
river
or
somewhere
to
play
games
and
had
a
lot
of
fun.
A
few
days
later,Robert
was
bathing
with
his
new
friends
in
a
river,and
got
out
of
his
depth.He
struggled,and
cried
for
help,but
all
in
vain.The
boys
who
had
called
Henry
a
coward
got
out
of
the
water
as
fast
as
they
could,but
they
did
not
even
try
to
help
him.

读后续写
Robert
was
fast
sinking.
It
seemed
as
if
Robert
would
be
drowned.
Just
at
the
moment,
Henry
happened
to
be
passing
by.
Hearing
the
screams,
Henry
ran
to
the
riverside,
threw
off
his
clothes
and
jumped
into
the
water
without
hesitation.
He
reached
Robert
just
as
he
was
sinking
the
last
time.
By
great
effort,
and
with
much
danger
to
himself,
he
brought
Robert
to
the
shore.
Thus,
Robert’s
life
was
saved.
Robert
and
his
new
friends
were
ashamed
at
having
called
Henry
a
coward.
They
realized
that
Henry
had
true
courage.
They
said
sorry
to
Henry
for
their
rude
behavior
and
asked
for
his
forgiveness.
Henry
forgave
them
happily.
He
and
Robert
were
friends
again
and
they
went
home
together
as
usual.
From
this,
Robert
learned
what
true
courage
was:
never
be
afraid
to
do
good,
but
always
fear
to
do
evil.
