印度有蛇庙、蛇村、蛇舞、蛇船赛，每年还有蛇节。

犹如我国端午节的龙舟竞赛。赛船的船头是一个生动的蛇头，参赛选手身穿白色衣裤，缠白头巾，手持短划桨，每艘船上还点缀着或红或黄的伞。竞赛时，选手们整齐地分坐于船的两边，按船上歌手短促高昂、节奏鲜明的号子奋力划桨。刹那时，上百艘蛇船竞逐，水花四溅，号子声、呐喊声响成一片。
