教  学  过  程 Period 3 Learn the new words and expressions Lead-in: The teacher shows some pictures about her senior high school and shares some interesting experience with my students. (Teaching aims: Students can get to know the teacher much deeper and improve their interest in learning English. The teacher can get more closer to students since students can know more about herself and find common interest with each other.) The teacher asks students to recall their first day at senior high, finish the questionnaire and discuss it with their partners. (Teaching aims: Students can have the consciousness of paying attention to this topic, which can be helpful for teaching the passage “My first day at senior high”. Besides, students can learn about the new expressions of describing their feelings on the first day at senior high, such as curious, nervous, excited, frightened and happy.) The teacher invites some students to share their experience and feelings when they first arrived at senior high. (Teaching aims: Students can build up their confidence in speaking English. Besides, students can improve their spoken English and learn about how to express their feelings when it comes to talking about the first day at senior high.) The teacher asks students to predict what this passage is going to talk about. (Teaching aims: Students can develop their ability to predict and read the passage with motivation. Students can pay attention to the people the author meets, the environment and what happens in the first class.) Presentation: The teacher reads the new words and expressions twice. Students need to follow the teacher’s pace and try to pronounce the words correctly. (Teaching aims: Students can learn about the new words and expressions before learning the new passage.) The teacher introduces the new words in each paragraph, including its usage, formation and other forms. Students need to line out those new words in the passage and take notes. (Teaching aims: Students can make sense of those new words, which can make it much easier for them to understand the passage and the grammar.) The teacher gives some examples to further explain the usage of those new words and expressions. Students need to answer the given blanks to help them master those grammar points.
