Three lifeguards were honoured as (被誉为) heroes last night after they rescued dozens of teenagers from the sea. The quick action and bravery of the lifeguards saved several of the youngsters from certain death.
The group of thirty-six youngsters were on an outdoor activity holiday in West Wales. On Saturday afternoon, the group, accompanied by four adults, went down to the sea. Some of them did not know how to swim and had never seen the sea before the trip. They were taking part in an exercise to help build confidence and teamwork. As part of the exercise they were walking backwards into the sea. At the time the tide (海潮) was out and the water was not deep. The tide began to come in and the group started walking back to dry land. Suddenly the sandbank underneath them collapsed (坍塌) and the sea flooded in. Some of the teenagers were soon in dangerous waters.
Fortunately, three lifeguards were nearby and came to the rescue. David Miller, manager for the local coastguard, said that although the sea was fairly shallow, it was still very dangerous in that sea. “It is just fortunate that the brave lifeguards were quickly on the scene and lucky that lives were not lost,” he added.
24.Why were the three lifeguards honoured as heroes

C.They did well in their outdoor training. D.They saved some youngsters from death.

C.To fish in the sea. D.To watch the tides.
26.Who were the people in danger when the sandbank fell down
A.Three lifeguards. B.The local people.
C.Some teenagers. D.David and his friends.
27.What is this text
A.A speech. B.A news report. C.A letter. D.A medical report.

I started the latest round of the NutriFit programme weeks ago. We took about 45 minutes to go through participants’ health records, previous diets, expectations, and levels of willingness to change to tailor the programme to meet each individual’s needs.
I was shocked by one thing. When it came to weight-loss goals, I usually asked, "When was the last time you were happy with your body " The reply usually related to pre-wedding, pre-kids, pre-college — the usual suspects. However this time, almost everyone said, "Of course, I wasn’t happy with it then, but I am happy with it now!"
It made me stop to think. For most of us, no matter how much we don’t really like the body shape, there will possibly be a point in the future when we would kill for the body we currently have. I don’t mean to upset anyone who is improving their body shape right now. But maybe we need to stop and smell the roses. We should be happy with and grateful for our bodies exactly as they are.
That’s why NutriFit has changed into something much more holistic(全面的). Now we have every shape and size taking part, but the goals are so much bigger: disease prevention, more energy, better immunity, well-balanced hormones(激素)... The list goes on.
In my opinion, the key rule of a successful nutrition programme is to be based on real food. If you focus more on balanced diets and less on weight, it will become a mentally healthier process. If you’re going to maintain your new, healthy lifestyle, it needs to be something you actively enjoy — a lifestyle that you want to maintain. If you eat healthily because you want to rather than you have to, life will get 1,000 percent easier.
28.What did the author and his partners do to tailor the programme for individuals
A. They introduced the programme in detail.
B. They examined participants’ physical health condition.
C. They got clear about participants’ health history and plans.
D. They analyzed and adjusted participants’ dietary structure.
29.What made the author shocked
A. People’s discontent with their previous life.
B. People’s optimism about their current body.
C. People’s satisfaction with their former body.
D. People’s ambitious goals of losing weight.
30.What does NutriFit pay attention to now
A. People’s image. B. People’s health. C. People’s weight. D. People’s appearance.
31.What should a successful nutrition programme focus on in the author’s view
A. Weight loss. B. A healthy lifestyle. C. A sound exercise plan. D. Enough nutritious food.
D.
Mental health and happiness are important to student success in higher education but rarely get the attention they need. Colleges and universities in the United States have been seeing increases in mental illness among students for decades. Promoting students’ mental health and emotional happiness on campus requires more than a well-functioning consulting center. It calls for a campus-wide commitment action plan.
American undergraduate students have been reporting increasing rates of anxiety and depression for decades. In the 2018- 2019 Healthy Minds Study (HMS) survey, 40% of about 300,000 students at some 300 colleges and universities reported experiencing a mental health problem, and 60% said they were having difficulty accessing mental health care on campus or in the community. Other studies estimate that the dropout rate of U.S. undergraduate students with mental health problems is over 40%, and that the rate of mental health problems among graduate students is six times higher than that of the general adult population.
Most academic institutions provide some mental health services, often through a counseling center. But no matter how good that center is, it alone cannot solve the problems. An important early step is for each institution to assess the extent of the mental health crisis on its campus and whether there are enough treatment services either at the institution or in the local community. Another important question is whether there are elements of the institution’s own environment or culture that contribute to the problems that students are experiencing, like unreasonable workloads or deadlines for tasks.
Every college and university should carry out a comprehensive(全面的) action plan to solve the problems. This may require additional resources during a trying time for institutional budgets. But supporting the whole student is so important that financial priorities should be rearranged.
32.What happens to university students in America
A. They pay little attention to higher education.
B. Increasing students suffer from mental illness.
C. They are lacking in a sense of happiness.
D. They lose confidence in the future careers.
33.What are the statistics in Paragraph 2 about
A. Terrible dropout rates. B. Emotional happiness.
C. Mental health problems. D. Decreasing adult population.
34.What is the key solution to fixing the problems according to Paragraph 3
A. Analyzing the present situation. B. Opening more counseling centers.
C. Offering free mental health services. D. Reducing unreasonable workloads.
35.How can we put a comprehensive action plan into practice
A. By giving some useful advice. B. By offering financial support.
C. By turning to the government. D. By getting enough time.

Jayce began noticing when he was in kindergarten that he looked different from his classmates. They had two hands while he had one. Due to his young age, Jayce was encouraged that he was just like an angel with one wing folded to prepare for something.
It started when one boy laughed at him. From that day, little Jayce became sad. He returned home with questions. "Why am I different Why me Why "He cried and asked his mother Lewis. Seeing Jayce was mad, the poor mother felt it a huge dagger (匕首)to her heart. What made her more sorrowful was that she didn’t know what to do at that point and how to give answers to her son’s questions which she could never find out herself. The white lie burst just like bubbles that day.
A few weeks later, Lewis turned on the TV and saw a news story where she was shocked to find out the answer. It was Trashaun , an eighth grader, who had a similar disability but led a brilliant life , that displayed positive energy from head to toe. The 14-year-old sunny boy performed his slam dunks(灌篮)on the TV, who had been a hit on the Internet. However, like Jayce, he had missed most of his left arm since his childhood! Lewis called her son Jayce in. The poor little boy got spellbound, watching dunks after dunks.
At the time, it seemed that watching Trashaun would simply be an inspiring moment for Jayce. He saw Trashaun as a tough role model and Lewis felt quite happy. But little did she know that a relative had already contacted Trashaun , inviting him to have a meeting with Jayce to help rebuild Jayce’s confidence.

Boys and girls,
As we all know, it's very important for us to form healthy eating habits. However, bad eating habits are still very common among us.
Some often go to school without breakfast; some like having snacks; some are particular about food; some eat or drink too much. All these bad habits will surely do harm to our health. To keep fit, we should have various healthy diets, which generally include proper amount of fish, meat, vegetables, fruits as well as staples. Besides, we'd better have meals regularly.
In my opinion, we should develop healthy eating habits to build ourselves up. Only in this way can we have enough energy to study better. That's all. Thank you.
One possible version
Paragraph 1:
The day was not spent drowning in self-pity but for fun. The boys met at a middle school on a sunny afternoon. Seeing his role model in the flesh, Jayce was too thrilled to say a single word but stand there with his mouth open wide. Amused by the sight, Trashaun held Jayce’s tiny hand. And then Trashaun took Jayce to ride bikes around the school and taught Jayce slam dunks. Jayce was so happy that they played for a long time (until they were exhausted). During the rest, Trashaun took out a shirt that said "Five fingers can also make it" , which was prepared for Jayce.
Paragraph 2:
Staring at the shirt he sent Jayce, Trashaun began to talk about their left arms. He told Jayce that the shirt was valuable to him, (because it was the shirt he wore when he dunked to win the first match). He realized that he could play as well as the other players (although he only had one arm). Trashaun said, "We are disabled, but we are not unable. The missing arm is like an invisible challenge, reminding us that we should make more efforts if we want to achieve anything." ked up to him, his eyes sparkling with hope and determination.
