In an ancient Chinese story, a beautiful goddess named Chang’e flew to the moon alone. It was a sad story because she never came back home.

It began in 2004, including orbiting, landing, and bringing back samples, Xinhua News Agency reported. To work together with other countries, China has planned to send some rocks to scientists from all over the world.

Giving flowers to others is a way of showing feelings to them. Although it’s one of the oldest traditions, it has never lost its charm (魅力) and never will. It’s a simple way that speaks much for givers, much more than the most expensive gift can. A red rose carries a message of love, and a bunch of flowers can show warmth and carry a message of love. Flowers can be used in many occasions (场合), like at parties and at festivals.
The choice of flowers for different occasions changes. It depends on the thoughts or feelings you want to show. Sunflowers are often used on Father’s Day, while some female flowers such as white or red carnations (康乃馨) are often given on Mother’s Day. The language of flowers conveys (传达) much more than the spoken language does. Flowers are perfect gifts for all occasions. They carry love, cheer and warm feelings. So it’s important to choose right flowers on right occasions. Keep the following rules in mind, please.
◆Choosing flowers’ colors which are suitable for the occasions.
◆Knowing about what your friends or family like most can make your choice easy.

A dog was abandoned (抛弃) by his owner at a gasoline station (加油站). However, he found a job there. How amazing! What happened
Sabrina started to run the gasoline station in a town with her partners two years ago. One night, she was riding her bike home. It was at this time that she discovered the adult dog near her workplace. After he had been abandoned there by his owner, he was too scared to leave.
“Poor thing. It seemed that he hadn’t eaten anything for a long time. I brought him home and gave him some food. I also named him Nick,” Sabrina says. “We bought him food and a dog house, and took him for a walk every day. We gave him all the care that an animal needs.”
But Sabrina didn’t just give Nick a home and some food. She also gave him a purpose-his own job. She even gave him a worker’s ID card.
Sabrina wasn’t sure what he would do to the customers at first. She took Nick to the gasoline station every day. To her surprise, Nick enjoyed being close to people. When people came, he greeted them with his paw (爪). He provided service for customers.

Mr. Jackson was our science teacher. On the first day of class, he gave us a talk about an animal called wampus. He told us that the wampus lived on earth millions of years ago during the Ice Age and died out because of the change of climate (气候). We all listened carefully and took notes of everything he said. Later he had a test.
When the exam paper was returned to me,I was surprised and sad. There was a big red “X” through each of my answers. I failed. But how come Anyway on the test paper. I had written down what Mr. Jackson said in class.
Then I realize that no one passed the exam at all. What had happened
“Very simple,” Mr. Jackson explained, “I had made up all that story about the wampus. There had never been any such animal, so the information in your notes was not correct. Do you expect to get high marks for incorrect answers ”
There was no need to say we were angry. What kind of test was this What kind of teacher was he
How could we believe he gave us so much information about an animal that had not been there at all How was it possible for us students to doubt what the teacher taught us
“The zeros on your papers will be recorded in your grade books,” he said. And he did it.
Through the experience. Mr. Jackson hoped that we would learn something. Teachers and the books are not always right. In fact, no one is. He told us not to let our mind go to sleep. Instead, we should keep thinking all the time and speak up if we think there are mistakes in our teacher’s words or in books.
We should develop the habit of doubting, and the ability to decide by ourselves. What a special lesson he gave us.

Since the outbreak (爆发) of the pandemic(疫情), it has made its way around the world.
It has a strong influence on our daily life. People have found a way to protect themselves by wearing face masks (口罩). We must wear masks anywhere in public. But the masks are one-time items. This means that we need to discard them after one or two uses. The world has seen wasted masks strewn (散布在) all over the streets and filling up garbage bins (垃圾箱).
Experts have pointed out that the materials used in masks are difficult to degrade (降解). It will take at least 100 years for them to degrade naturally. Environmentalists become quite worried because a countless number of wasted masks have ended up in the sea! They are polluting the sea! The sea animals suffer (遭受) a lot and so do we humans. If the sea animals eat them by mistake, the rubbish will be hard to digest (消化) and stay in their stomachs forever. The bacteria on the masks may. kill them too. They will not only largely influence the ecological balance (生态平衡) of the sea, but also can spread some more dangerous illnesses. People will also leave these harmful things in their own bodies and may become ill when eating these sea animals.
In general, the harm of wasted masks to the sea is serious, so we must take action to stop it right now. We should leave them in a safe place and find a wise way to recycle them.

Ancient Embroidery in Danger
Embroidery(刺绣)is an important art form in Chinese culture. In the past, people embroidered on handkerchiefs, bed covers, tablecloths and dresses. Girls would embroider on a sachet(香囊) as a gift for their lovers. The most famous embroidery styles are Su embroidery from Suzhou, Shu embroidery from Sichuan, Xiang embroidery from Hunan and Yue embroidery from Guangdong.
Shu embroidery is the oldest of the four. It is known for its smooth needlework and beautiful colors. It dates back to the Han Dynasty. People sold it to other countries through the South Silk Road. It used to be a fashion in ancient Rome, according to China Daily.
Embroidery takes time and patience. It might take as long as a whole day to finish just 10 cm of embroidery. By the 1970s, Sichuan had as many as 5,000 embroiderers. But since modern machines can make cheaper embroidery products today, fewer people buy handmade Shu embroidery products. There are also very few young embroiderers, so the skill is in danger of dying out. To protect the skill, Shu embroidery was added to China’s intangible cultural heritage list(非物质文化遗产名录) in 2006.
Meng Dezhi has been making Shu embroidery for 40 years. She used to work at Chengdu Shu Embroidery Factory. But in 2005, the factory went broke and Meng lost her job.
Wanting to save the art, Meng decided to rent(租) her own place and teach Shu embroidery to others. It is not an easy job.
The work is hard and the pay is low. Not many people want to learn this skill. But Meng is trying to save it by teaching in different universities and communities. She believes that Shu embroidery stands for thousands of years of Sichuan culture and should be saved.

One cold day, Mariko and her dad were walking to the store.
“I’m tired of winter,” said Mariko. Dad waved at their neighbor. “I bet (确信) Mr. Hill wishes spring would come too.” Mariko looked up to see Mr. Hill in his window. He waved, and she waved back.
“Mr. Hill loves his garden,” said Mariko. Mr. Hill had the prettiest spring flower garden. It was full of tulips and daffodils (水仙花). Dad nodded, “Yes, he does. And since he is old, it is hard for him to go outside in winter. The streets are too icy.”
At the store, Mariko helped dad choose milk, bread, and carrots. “You may choose a gift for yourself, Mariko,” said dad. Mariko thought an apple would taste good. On February 20, 2021, Jasmine Harrison became the youngest woman to row (划艇) alone across the Atlantic Ocean. It took the 21-year-old swimming teacher just over 70 days to do it.
Ms. Harrison, who’s from England, didn’t have much experience in rowing long distances. She got the idea three years ago when she happened to be in Antigua. There she saw the end of the 2017 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. “I want to do this, so I’m going to do it.” she said.
Every year, rowers taking part in the Atlantic Campaign set out from the Canary Islands in December and row about 4,800 kilometers across the Atlantic. Some row in teams of two, three or four. Others, like Ms. Harrison, row by themselves.
It wasn’t easy. Every day, Ms. Harrison would row for about 12 hours. She rowed about 20, 000 strokes (划) a day.
Ms. Harrison had a smartphone that allowed her to talk with family and friends every day. She had other company along the way. She saw lots of sea life, including some whales. For several days, she was followed by a small group of dolphins. “I was in their environment.” she said. “It was just amazing.”
There was danger, too. Twice, her boat was turned over in the night by large waves. She hurt her elbow quite badly. Another time, she nearly ran into a ship.
Somehow, she kept going. Finally, on February 20, after 70 days, 3 hours and 48 minutes, she reached Antigua—the end of the journey. Ms. Harrison’s rowing has made her the youngest woman ever to row alone across the Atlantic. Before, that record was held by Kaitie Spotz from the USA, who crossed the Atlantic as a 22-year-old in 2010.

A woman was at the airport waiting for her flight to start boarding. She still had a lot of time, so she went to a shop and bought a book to read. While she was in the shop, she decided to buy a bag of cookies as well.
She arrived at her gate, sat down and started reading her book. She read her book so carefully that she didn’t notice what was going on around her. But she did see that a man had sat down next to her and taken one of her cookies out of the bag.
She pretended not to notice, as she didn’t want to make a scene (当众大吵). But then the man took more. He kept eating the cookies until there was just one left. The man took the last cookie and broke it in half. He tapped the woman on the shoulder and held out one half to her.
The woman could not believe how much nerve (勇气) this man had to steal all of her cookies and then offer half a cookie in return. She angrily grabbed (夺) the half-cookie out of his hand and ate it without any words.
Finally, it was time for her to board. As she went to the gate, she reached into her purse. Suddenly, she realized that her bag of cookies was still in her purse. The man had eaten his own cookies the whole time and simply wanted to share the last one with her. The woman’s face turned red with shame. So she quickly caught up with him and said, “Please forgive me and thank you for your cookie.”
