After news broke over the weekend that Beverly Cleary had died at age 104, Judy Blume took to Twitter. “Beverly Cleary! My inspiration. I wanted to write books like yours. I so regret never having met you. You will not be forgotten,” she wrote on Twitter.
The “Are You There God It's Me, Margaret” author went on to share another social media post about one very memorable interaction she did have with Cleary. The 83-year-old author explained that their common publisher switched their fan mails, and she read some of Cleary's letters. After the accidental exchange, Blume sent back the fan mails with a special note. Cleary wrote her one in turn. “She cautioned me not to get caught up in the demands of the teachers and students,” Blume said. “She was concerned that if I did it would interfere with (干扰) my writing. She was right.”
“When I started writing in the late 60s and was reading children's books for inspiration, no books delighted and inspired me the way Beverly Cleary's did. I once fell off the sofa while reading one of her books because I was laughing so hard,” Blume added.
Journalist Reyhan Harmanci also shared a post about what Blume once told her on social media. “I' m always amused when I meet young readers who say, ' I love your Ramona books.' Then I explain that I love Ramona, too, but I didn't write those books, Beverly Cleary did,” the author shared. “They give me an embarrassed look then, and I tell them it's OK. What's important is that they're reading and loving the experience.”
Blume's admiration for Cleary was passed on to her daughter, who read it whenever she seemed anxious. Now, Blume's grandson is also a fan of Cleary's works. She concluded that Cleary's writing has positively impacted several generations, and she couldn't imagine what the world would be without her brilliance.

Self-driving cars are just around the corner. Such vehicles will make getting from one place to another safer and less stressful. They also could cut down on traffic, reduce pollution and limit accidents. But how should driverless cars handle emergencies People disagree on the answer.
To understand the challenge, imagine a car suddenly meets some pedestrians in the road. It’s too late to avoid a crash. So the car’s artificial intelligence must decide whether to swerve(急转弯), To save the pedestrians, should the car swerve off the road or swerve into oncoming traffic: What if such options :would likely kill the car’s driver
Researchers used online survey to study people’s attitudes about such situations with driverless cars. Survey participants mostly agreed automated cars should be designed to protect the most people. That included swerving into walls to save a larger number of pedestrians. However, those same surveyed want to ride in cars that protect passengers at all costs-even if the pedestrians would now end up dying. Jean-Francois Bonnefon, a psychologist at the Toulouse School of Economics, and his colleagues reported their findings in Science.
“Automated cars can revolutionize transportation, says study coauthor Iyad Rahwan. But he adds, this new technology creates a moral (道德的) dilemma that could slow its acceptance.
Makers of computerized cars are at a loss for what to do next. Most buyers would want their cars to be programmed to protect them in preference to other people. However, regulations might one day instruct that cars must act for the greater good. But the scientists think rules like this could drive away buyers, If so, all the potential benefits of driverless cars would be lost.
Compromises(妥协) might be possible, another psychologist, Kurt Gray says. He thinks if all driverless cars are programmed to protect their passengers in emergencies, traffic accidents will drop. Those vehicles might be dangerous to pedestrians on rare occasions. But they “won’t speed, won’t drive drunk and won’t text while driving, which would be a win for society. "
28.The underlined word “challenge" in Paragraph 2 refers to .
A.the technical problems that self-driving cars have
B.how self-driving cars reduce traffic accidents
C.how self-driving cars handle emergencies
D.people’s negative attitude towards self-driving cars
29.According to the passage, online surveys show that .
A.people care about whose safety should come first
B.self-driving cars should be designed to protect drivers
C.the busy traffic may be a problem for self-driving cars
D.self-driving cars’ artificial intelligence needs improvement
30.What can we infer from the fifth paragraph
A.Regulations are in passengers’ favor.
B.Most people dislike driverless cars now.
C.Self-driving car makers are in a tough spot.
D.The potential benefits of driverless cars are ignored.
31.What would be the best title for the passage
A.Moral Dilemma Could Limit Appeal of Driverless Cars.
B.Driverless Cars Could Revolutionize Transportation,
C.New Regulations Have Great Influence on Driverless Cars.
D.People Disagree on the Future of Driverless Cars.

When a child is told he is “uncool”, it can be very painful. He may say he doesn’t care, and even act in ways that are opposite of cool on purpose. But these are simple ways to handle sadness by pretending it’s not there.
Helping a child feel better in school had to be careful. If you say, “Why are you worried about what other children think about you It doesn’t matter!” Children know that it does matter. Instead, an active way may be best. You could say, “I’m going to do a couple of things for you to help you feel better in school.”
If a boy is having trouble making friends, the teacher can help him. The teacher can arrange things so that he has chances to use his abilities to contribute to class projects. This is how the other children learn how to value his good qualities and to like him. A teacher can also raise a child’s popularity in the group by showing that he values that child. It even helps to put him in a seat next to a very popular child, or let him be a partner with that child in activities, etc.
There are things that parents can do at home, too. Be friendly when your child brings others home to play. Encourage him to invite friends to meals and then serve the dishes they consider “super”. When you plan trips, picnics, movies, and other shows, invite another child with whom your child wants to be friends.
What you can do is to give him a chance to join a group that may be shutting him out. Then, if he has good qualities, he can start to build real friendship of his own.

Thank you for listening to my presentation on Dolly Parton today. I’m not using a PowerPoint, so you might want to take a few notes because I’m going to tell you some interesting things. Let’s start with her background. Yes, many country singers start out from poor backgrounds, but Dolly Parton’s family was so poor that when she was born, her father paid the doctor with a bag of corn. She loved singing, but when she was asked to sing on a local TV show, her mean classmates locked her in the classroom so she would miss her chance. She moved to Nashville after high school and got a job writing songs, though she is most recognized for her performance skills now. Being famous hasn’t always been easy, of course. Even if she changes her hair and clothing style, people always recognize her voice. But unlike some stars, she has kept close to her home. She started a business in the poor city where she was born, and she also started a program that gives free books to poor children. If this information sounds too strange to be true, you should look it up and read about this interesting country singer yourself. I hope you’ll all be inspired by knowing more about her life story.

Interviewing someone for a job,故谓语动词应用第三人称单数。故填is。
可知短语为not only…but also…。故填but。

故填the。

故it 改为which。
thanks to多亏了,需把for改成to。故for 改为to。
故去掉was。
故very改为so。
故as后面加上a。
from then on从那时起。故now 改为then。
72.Dear Simon:
I am more than glad to learn that you are wondering what to do with some burns. I’m writng to offer you some practical notes from the lecture.
It is very vital to provide some temporary treatment for the burns. using some cloths. Then wet the burns, squeeze out the cold water and place them over where it burns. Do this over and over again until the pain disappear. Next dry the burns gently to prevent blisters from forming. Finally take a pair of scissors and cut a bandge to the right length so as to tie it tightly until it stays in place. Do remember: please go to hospital if more serious. I think it would be of great benefit for everybody to learn some basic knowledge of first aid, which will not only help us ourselves but everybody around us.
I hope you will find my notes useful.
Yours
Li Hua
