一、何谓直接引语和间接引语？
直接引语(direct speech) : 直接引用别人的话, 把它放在引号内。
间接引语(indirect speech): 用自己的话转述别人的话。
例： John said,“I am a teacher.”
→John said that he was a teacher.
当直接引语变成间接引语时，____________________必须发生改变。

主句时态为一般现在时或一般将来时，从句时态不变
直接引语变间接引语时的时态变化
The girl said, “I'm sorry for being late for class.”

主句为一般过去时，从句时态往时间线前倒一个

注意（语法书p229）
1. 直接引语叙述的是客观真理, 变为间接引语时态不变。
He said, "The sun is bigger than the earth."
He said that the sun is bigger than the earth.
2. 直接引语的谓语为一般过去时而且与具体时间状语连用,变为间接引语时态不变。
Xiao Wang said to me, "I was born on April 20,1980.“
Xiao Wang said that he was born on April 20,1980.

①直接引语是陈述句，间接引语用连接词that引导
Tom said that he would finish all his homework
Lucy said that she had seen the film.
第三步：看引号的句子
He said to me，“Are you interested in English？”

②直接引语是一般疑问句，间接引语用whether或if引导，疑问语序变成陈述语序，谓语动词say/said 变成ask/asked。
He asked me if/whether I was interested in English.
He asked if/whether I was a teacher.
“What’s your name？” he asked me.
→He asked me what my name was.

③直接引语是特殊疑问句，间接引语疑问词不变，疑问语序变为陈述语序。
The teacher asked me where I had been

→He told Ann to tell him her problem.

④直接引语是祈使句，间接引语变为ask/tell/order/advise sb (not) to do.
She told the boys to be careful with the dog.
She told Tom not to work in bed.
