怎么有礼貌地问路
1. rush v. / n. 仓促,急促
教材原句:You don’t need to rush! (p18-2d)
基本用法:
v. rush to /into 冲向 /冲进
Hearing this bad news, he rushed to the hospital.
A girl rushed into a burning flat to save a man’s life.
n. in a rush 匆忙
The man left in a rush.

基本用法:
suggest doing sth. He suggested going for a walk.
suggest + that从句(用虚拟语气) He suggested that we (should) go for a walk.
suggestion n. 可数名词 give some suggestions / advice
【剖析】
suggest作动词,还可以意为“显示;间接表明;暗示”。后接名词、代词或从句作宾语,此时接从句不用虚拟语气。

3. mail v. / n. 邮件
教材原句:Sally needs to mail a letter. (p20-4b)
基本用法 :
mail n. 可数名词 send /receive mails
She has a large amount of mails.
作动词,指发邮件 mail sb./sth.
He went to the post office to mail the letters.
He mailed me the contract.
4. convenient adj. 便利的,方便的 (p21-1a)
基本用法:
They must arrange a convenient time for the meeting.
be convenient to / for ... “……对……来说是方便的 / 近便的”,主语不能人,所以常用句型:
It be convenient for sb. to do sth. 对某人来说做……是方便的
Will it be convenient for you to start work tomorrow
If it is quite convenient to her, we will visit her next Tuesday.
convenience n. 方便,合适 at one’s convenience 在某人方便的时候

inconvenient adj. 不便的
5. polite adj. 有礼貌的

基本用法:
politely adv. polite + ly

impolite adj. 没礼貌的 im + polite
It is impolite to ask too many questions.

基本用法:
choose v. 选择,挑选 choose from 从…中挑选

用pass by时,侧重不加注意,但实际上,pass和pass by常被毫无区别地使用。

pass by 还可以指“时间流逝”。

注意与past 的区分:

基本用法:

【辨析】in the corner 在角落里 on the corner 在角落上

Please drive slowly when you are at the corner of the street.
in the corner:强调在直角的内部。
The broom is in the corner of the room.
on the corner:强调在直角的顶点上,也可表示在...拐角,此时可与at the corner互换。
