Activity1 Watch the video—Always ready to help and answer the questions.
1. What kinds of good deeds are shown in the video
2. What idea does the video convey
3. Look at the pictures of the three people and read the quotations. Talk about the following points:
the qualities you admire in each of them.
other people who have similar qualities.
the contribution these people made to society.
Activity2 Listen to the phone enquiry and complete the sentences with the correct ending.

Before making a phone enquiry, take a moment to prepare your questions.Take notes if necessary.Also, remember that it's okay to ask again when you think it's not clear enough!

Activity 4: Now talk about how Sarah makes a phone enquiry on becoming a volunteer. Listen again if necessary.
Volunteer centre:Winchester volunteer centre. How can I help you
Volunteer:Hi, yes. My name is Sarah white. And I'm interested in doing some sort of voluntary work. Could you tell me how to become a volunteer
Volunteer centre:Of course. Okay. So, first of all, you need to think about what type of work you would like to do. Any ideas
Volunteer:Well, I enjoy working with children. So maybe some work of this kind. Volunteer centre: Okay, let's see. Do you do any sports at all
Volunteer:Yes, I've been riding since I was little. I really love horses.
Volunteer centre: Well, they do riding classes for kids with disabilities at Peter's stables. Perhaps that would interest you.
Volunteer:Oh, that sounds interesting. Can you tell me a bit more about it
Volunteer centre: The most important thing is for the children to have fun and learn that they can still enjoy sports despite their disabilities. You work one on one with the same children each week, so you get to build a relationship with them. It's amazing to see how their confidence increases over time.
Volunteer: That sounds just right for me. What should I do to get the work
Volunteer centre:You can call Mrs. Erica Marshall, director of the stables. Her number is 073 8695 2054.
Volunteer:OK. Is there anything else I need to know
Volunteer centre:Once you've contacted Mrs. Marshall, she'll want to know if you have previous experience as a volunteer. She'll probably also want a reference from someone who knows you just to make sure that you're the right sort of person for that kind of work. And then of course, you should think about how often you would like to help out, right
Volunteer:That all sounds great. I'll prepare the Information needed and call her. Thank you very much.
