Once, there was a poor slave (奴隶) named Androclus in Rome. His owner was a very unkind man, so he ran away to the forest, where he found a lion lying on the ground. He was scared and ready to get away, but the lion didn’t run after him. It was groaning in pain Androclus went up to the lion and the lion put out its foot which was bleeding (流血). Androclus saw a long, sharp thorn (刺) in its foot and he pulled it out quickly. The lion soon could rise and licked (舔) Androclus’ hand like a dog.
Androclus and the lion became friends. For a long time, the lion would bring him food every day. That made Androclus find his new life a very happy one.
One day, some soldiers rushed into the forest and took Androclus back to Rome. As a punishment, he would have to fight a hungry lion in front of the unkind slave owners. When the day came, thousands of people went to see the fight. The door opened and Androclus was brought in, empty-handed. He was almost dead with fear, for the roars (咆哮) of the lion could already be heard. Then, the hungry lion rushed in. With a single jump, it reached the poor slave.
Androclus gave a great cry, but not out of fear. It was his old friend, the lion in the forest. People saw Androclus put his arms around the lion’s neck. In return, the lion licked him lovingly. They could not understand what was happening.
“No man wants to be my friend. Only this poor lion is kind to me,” Androclus explained. At that moment, people were not so unkind as their fathers and grandfathers had been. “Give them both freedom!” they cried.

①“Hello,” says a friendly voice. “My name is Temi.” Temi says its job is to help humans. There are about 8,000 Temis in hospitals and shops around the world, doing different things.
②Temi has taken on many human jobs, but you’d never mistake it for a person. It has a screen for a “face” and a “body” that looks like a vacuum (真空吸尘器). However, some robots are now being designed to look as human as possible. These products of technology are at the center of a discussion: should they be made to look like humans or just like what they are—machines
③Robots are playing an increasingly bigger role in our lives. In some countries, robots have been looking after kids and helping the old. Some experts say robots will be more successful at such jobs if they look like humans. Research has shown that people feel closer to human-like robots.
④“Human-like robots can turn cold technology into something that speaks to the human heart,” said robot expert David Hanson. Hanson is the creator of Sophia, one of the most human-like robots ever built.
⑤But other experts say robots don’t need to appear human for us to connect with them. Just look at popular fictional (虚构的) robots like WALL-E. They don’t look like us at all.
⑥In fact, human-like robots have disadvantages, these experts say. For one thing, they may leave us feeling disappointed. If robots look like us, we may expect them to act like us. However, robots can’t always do that yet. For example, they can’t laugh at the right moments during a conversation. Many people also find human-like robots scaring.
⑦What’s more, the human body is not the best design for many of the jobs we want robots to do. Just think of small, flat robot vacuums that can go under a sofa to pick up a small toy. Can human-like robots also do this
⑧What do you think Should robots look like humans

Talking about English learning
I have learned English for over 2 years and my English has improved a lot. Here are my ways of learning English.
In my opinion, there are four key points for learning English. Firstly, it’s a good way to improve my English by listening to some English songs and watching English movies. What’s more, I often speak English as much as possible so that my spoken English can improve step by step. Besides, reading English is also important. Finally, I often write something in English, for example, keeping a diary in English.
All in all, learning English is not easy, but as long as we put our heart into it, we’ll make progress.
