Do you know about Weibo Weibo means micro blog. It allows users to send messages, articles, photos and videos on the Internet. Their posts can be read by anyone, or only by people who are chosen by the user. Micro blogs are different from traditional blogs. They are much smaller in size. Every post on a micro blog should be less than 140 words.
Micro blogs started in the US. They came to China in 2009. In 2018, the number of Chinese micro-bloggers grew to 337 million. For many users, it is a great way of catching and sharing the latest information, including news, pictures and music. Many movie stars or famous singers also use micro blogs to share things with their fans. It is easy and fast to send a message on a micro blog.
However, micro blogs have also had some bad influences. For example, some students spend too much time on them so that no attention is paid to their studies. Some teachers even worry that students could lose their ability to communicate properly because they use micro blogs so much. Therefore, I think we should learn to make full use of micro blogs.

If you want to travel from Xi’an to Chengdu by train, it will take about 16 hours. But starting this month, the new Xi’an-Chengdu high-speed railway will cut this travel time short to three hours.
The 643-kilometer line is China’s first high-speed railway to run through the Qinling Mountains, which form a natural boundary between China’s north and south. With a speed of 250 km per hour, it’s also the first mountain-heavy train line to provide a 4G network.
Along the way, the train passes through two areas for rare wild animals – one for pandas and the other for crested ibises(朱鹮. To reduce the railway’s influence on the animals, workers and experts(专家)have designed and built the railway to be environmentally friendly, China Daily reported.
As of September, there were 345 wild pandas living in the Qinling Mountains. China recently has 1,864 wild pandas in all, according to the Xinhua News Agency.
To avoid bringing trouble to the pandas, the railway was designed to run through tunnels(隧道)within the area. Protective shields(防护屏)are put near the entrance of each tunnel to stop animals from going in.
To protect the thousands of crested ibises that fly near one part of the railway, protective nets have been set up along the railways to make sure the birds will not fly into a train.
The nets are about 32 km long and 4 meters high. Experts tried different shapes and materials for building the nets before making their final choice.

We think of hospitals as being peaceful and safe places. But in the past few years, doctors and nurses in Chinese public hospitals have been aimed by violent(暴力的)attacks. A study that came out in 2017 showed that one in four doctors in China has suffered from physical violence, with some even losing their lives.
To prevent such things from happening, the government worked out a draft(草案)law and put it up for review on Oct 22nd. It says that the safety of medical staff is protected by law and that no one is allowed to hurt medical workers, the Beijing News reported.
In most cases, the attackers were relatives of patients who were not satisfied(满意)with their treatment. Most people have high expectations for their doctors. But of course, not every illness can be cured, China Youth Daily noted.
A general lack(缺少)of trust in doctors has also made things worse. Giving doctors cash bribes(现金贿赂) for good treatment has long been an unwritten rule. Some people believe that they may have received useless treatment because they didn’t bribe their doctors. In some cases, their anger in this situation turns into violence.
Another problem is a lack of doctors. Doctors in large public hospitals are often stretched thin(不堪重负的), seeing as many as 60 or more patients in just half a day. It’s difficult for them to provide enough care for each patient.
Hospitals are trying to find ways to solve these problems. For example, many hospitals have set up offices to hear and deal with patients’ complaints, Xinhua reported.
When some unexpected things happen, patients should ask the experts or the special organizations for advice instead of turning to violence, the State Council said.
( ) 54. What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 2 mean
A. Beijing News. B. The review.
C. The government. D. The draft law.

Picasso tried to create his own art form.
Growing up
Pablo Picasso was born on October 25,1881, in Spain. When Picasso was about 10, he began attending his dad's drawing lessons. The boy quickly showed a gift for art. At age 14, he painted a picture of his Aunt Pepa that has been praised by artists. Picasso went on to study art in Madrid but was more inspired (赋予灵感) by visits to Spain's national art museum than his classes. Two years later, he moved to Barcelona and joined a group of artists.
From blue to rose
The death of a close friend in 1901 marked the start of Picasso's“Blue Period". For about three years, blue was the most common color in his paintings, and his work is mainly about themes such as sadness, poverty (贫穷), and loneliness. In 1903, he painted one of his most famous works: The Old Guitarist. By 1904, Picasso was beginning to feel better. That spring, he moved to Paris. He began using brighter, redder tones (色调) in what became known as the “Rose Period".
Breaking the rules
Between about 1907 and 1914, Picasso and his friend Georges Braque began with a new
style of art. Unlike most Western artists at the time, they were not trying to draw nature. Instead, they divided objects into smaller shapes, then put them back together in surprising ways. They often showed the same object from several points of view, all in one work of art. This new style became known as Cubism (立体主义). The style was shocking at first, but it later inspired several other artists to create Cubist works of their own.
A lifelong pursuit (追求)
After World War 1, Picasso returned to traditional styles. He later worked in a style known as Surrealism (超现实主义). When Picasso, who made art until he died at age 91, was asked why he used so many styles, he replied, “Whenever I wanted to say something, I said it the way I believed I should.”
