When you look at animals, what do you see Wang Qing, a student in the 8th grade, sees animals as good friends. But not 1 thinks this way. Lighting is one of the most beautiful natural phenomena (现象). It is also one of the most deadly phenomena. A bolt of lightning is six times hotter than the surface (表面) of the Sun and gives out 30,000 amps of electricity (电). It can travel at 100,000 kilometers per hour and has the ability to hit a target up to 40 kilometers away. About 1,000 people around the world are killed by lightning every day.
Only about ten percent of people struck by lightening will die, but the others are very badly injured (受伤的), with burns, broken bones, blindness, deafness, paralysis, or memory loss. However, when the electricity passes through their brain, it can occasionally have unusual and even positive effects. Some blind people have got their sight back after being struck by lightning. One woman said a psychological test showed her intelligence (智力) had greatly improved, and one man said he could no longer feel cold at all and could go out in temperature below freezing in just a T-shirt!
So what should you do to stay safe in a thunderstorm The most important rule is to stay inside, but do not go near phones, electrical appliances, plumbing, or water. If you are stuck outside, do not take shelter under a tree. Instead, roll yourself up into a ball on the ground as small as possible. And do not think it has to be raining in order for lightning to strike.
Strangely, lightning seems to prefer some people to others. If you are a man, you are six times more likely to be struck by lightning than a woman!

“That is so unfair (不公平)!” Holly angrily threw down her napkin and jumped up from the table.
“Sit down and finish your dinner,” her mother said.
“No way!” said Holly. Her face was red, her eyes flashing.
“Don’t talk to your mother like that,” said her father. He was angry, too.
Her sister Sophie looked down at her plate and smiled a secret little smile. Holly walked towards the door. Her father stood up.

The death（死亡）of Coco Lee, a famous pop singer, made many people feel sad. It also made people think of their friends and relatives who died. Losing someone you love can be one of the most awful experiences.
Grief（悲伤）is a natural feeling to the death of a person－or pet－that you love or feel close to. The Queen Elizabeth II once said: “Grief is the price we pay for love.” In some cultures, grief is quiet, while other people cry out loud. There is no right or wrong way to feel sad. What seems strange to one person can be natural and normal to another.
Losing someone can leave a hole in your life and make you feel overwhelmed（崩溃的）. The charity YoungMinds says everyone faces grief differently and for different periods of time. It`s normal to have feelings including anger, fear, and sadness. Prince Harry`s mother Diana, Princess of Wales, died when he was 12. In March 2020, he wrote to children who had a parent died. He said: “You may feel alone, you may feel sad, you may feel angry, you may feel bad. This feeling will pass. And I bet－you will feel better and stronger once you are ready to talk about how it makes you feel.”
Poppy Mardall owns a company that holds funerals（葬礼）. She says it`s helpful to talk to someone you believe in about your feelings and not hide them away. Don`t be afraid of doing something that makes you smile, like watching a film or meeting up with friends. Even though a loved one died, says Mardall, your relationship（关系）with them is still there; your memories and feelings for them will stay with you during your whole life. So, try writing to them a letter, poem or song, or draw a picture of them. “Share your memories with other people,” says Mardall.

On October 12, 2022, students from all over the country took the third live class from China’s space station. Shenzhou-14 members Chen Dong.
At the beginning of the 50-minute class, the astronauts showed the new “classroom”, the Wentian lab module (问天实验舱).
The astronauts did four interesting experiments(实验) in the microgravity (微重力) environment. Liu Yang tried drinking mango juice with a two-meter straw and she made it!
