Some villages in China were chosen among the Best Tourism Villages 2024 by the United Nations World Tourism Organization(联合国世界旅游组织). The villagers are: Azheke in Yunnan province, Guanyang in Fujian province, Shibadong in Hunan province, Taoping in Sichuan province, Xiaogang in Anhui province, Xitou in Zhejiang province and Yandunjiao in Shandong province. Azheke in Yunnan province With rice fields and green plants all around, over 60 "mushroom houses" made of bricks and straw roofs are regarded as the top-kept group of traditional homes for the Hani people in Yuanyang county, Yunnan province. For more than 160 years, the small village called Azheke has been home to the Hani ethnic (少数名族的)group. Its name, which means "a place with lots of bamboos" in Hani language, fits the natural environment of this village.
Taoping in Sichuan province Located in a beautiful valley to the east of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Taoping village in lixian county, Sichuan province, is a truly beautiful land. It's famous for the wonderful heritage of one of China's oldest ethnic groups-the Qiang.This village has some of the oldest and best-kept Qiang buildings, with a history of 2,000 years. And there's a special Qiang fort. It's made of 98 stone houses that are all joined together, and it even has two watchtowers with nine floors each.
Xitou in Zhejiang province Hidden in the mountains of Longguan, Zhejiang province, Xitou village is a spot that's been making celadon porcelain(青花瓷) for over a thousand years in this village, families have carefully protected and passed down their craft skills from one generation to the next. With a 1,400-year-old story, the village is home to seven old kilns(窑)that are still in use, showing its rich porcelain culture. in 2009, the traditional wood-fired skill of Longquan celadon porcelain was considered by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Can you see things far away clearly Nearsighted(近视的)people can't. A new study found more than a third of children around the world were nearsighted in 2023.
The study looked at children in 50 countries and regions. East Asia had the highest rate(比率)of nearsighted children, more than twice the rate of white children. Japan topped the list. In Japan, 86 percent of children were nearsighted.
This may be because East Asian kids often start studying when they are two or three years old. This is earlier than kids in other places. At this young age, their eyes and brains are still growing. It is a really important time for their eyes.
To stop becoming nearsighted, kids should play outside more and spend less time on screens like phone sand computers.They should also take a break from screens every 20 minutes by looking at something else. This helps relax the eyes.

The Amazon rainforest is in South America. It covers 5.5 million square kilometres. That’s about half the size of China. The Amazon River (run) through the rainforest. Why is the Amazon “sick”

【惊慌怪物】
One night when I heard a strange noise, I looked out of my window and saw a big flying object! I jumped up and ran to the back door. The flying object was there and its lights were blinking (闪的).
I watched from the back door when a strange door opened on the side of the flying object. I saw two bright green eyes in the doorway. They began moving towards me. An alien walked a few steps away from the object. The alien was tall. His eyes were very big and glowed green in the dark. He seemed friendly. I was not afraid.
The alien saw my cats, but they got scared and ran away. Then he made a soft sound and the cats came running back to see him. It was very funny. I laughed and the alien heard me. He started to walk towards me. I said, “Hello, how are you ” He didn’t say anything, but he made the same sound.
Then he turned and walked towards the garden. He picked some flowers for samples(样品) to take home with him. He smelled them and sneezed (打喷嚏) very loud. This woke up my parents and the neighbors. Everyone came to see what the noise was. When they saw the alien, they were a little scared, especially the kids. The alien was happy that we were all there to see him. He made some kind of noise, turned around and walked towards the flying object with the flowers.
