66、普通范文
Nowadays, more and more middle school students use the electronic dictionary pen to learn English. Our class had a discussion on whether we should use it.
40% of the students think it is necessary. They think the pen is easy to carry and it is easy to look up words using it. Besides, it can help us correct pronunciation and practice listening.
However, 60% hold a different view. They think that the electronic dictionary pen has a small vocabulary and fewer explanations of words. Furthermore, we may rely on it and not make efforts to memorize words.
I'm in favor of learning English with the help of a dictionary pen because we can study English more conveniently by using it.
高级范文
Given the electronic dictionary pen is used by a growing number of middle school students, we had a debate on whether students should use it.
40% support the idea of using it. First, it's easy to carry, which brings convenience to our English learning. Second, it's faster to get the meaning by scanning a word. Last but not least, more functions are available, allowing us to make our pronunciation more precise and raise our listening level.
The remaining 60% hold the belief that we shouldn't use it, claiming that its limited vocabulary lessens what we can achieve. Meanwhile, a shortage of specific explanations leads to a lack of understanding. What's worse, we may become too dependent when it comes to memorizing new words.
Personally, I think using electronic dictionary pens should be allowed, which will help us learn English more conveniently.
67、第二节(满分25分)
Paragraph 1:
On the morning of Mother’s Day, Mother got a large box that read “Eaton’s Finest Basin” on its wrapping paper. With her eyes landing on the words on the box, a smile crept across her face. “Oh, you chose a basin. It’s really practical,” she praised, her voice filled with approval. Having already known what was truly inside the box, Dad and I exchanged a knowing glance. “Mom, open it quickly! There might be more than just a basin inside!” I urged, my eyes sparkling with excitement and hands gesturing eagerly. Curious yet slightly hesitant, Mother tore open the wrapping paper. Nevertheless, what greeted Mom’s eyes was not the basin she had expected. Instead, she found the big red dress that she had admired in the store window.
Paragraph2:
“Oh Frank...” She choked up and couldn’t say a word, tears welling up in her eyes. Seeing Mom overwhelmed with excitement, I gently wrapped my arms around her shoulders. “Mom, this surprise is what you deserve,” I whispered to her, trying to convey my comfort and gratitude. Having heard my words, her lips quivered in an attempt to hold back the emotion swelling inside her and then she leaned into my hug. When Mom emerged wearing the red satin dress, so amazed by her beauty was I that my eyes widened and my mouth was slightly agape. Gazing at Mom in the mirror, I felt my heart overflowed with a sense of accomplishment. In that instant, I realized that the true value of the gift was to show love and gratitude to mom who always put others before herself.

W: I read a story in a book the other day. It showed something important and I wanted to share it with you. The story was set in the years before cars were invented, so the rich had to travel in coaches. One day, a young lady wanted to watch a play in the theater. Her coachman took her to the theater in a coach. It was very cold. While she was watching the play, the poor coachman had to sit outside in the snow on the driver's seat of the coach looking after the horse. Inside the theater, the lady was moved to tears by the performance. Some actors in the play were in extremely poor situations. She showed great pity on them. However, when she came out and saw the coachman covered with snow and almost frozen to death, she just considered it as a normal part of life. Nowadays, whenever I see people in terrible situations on TV, I feel sad, wishing that I could do something to make a difference. But I often ignore people and things around me, like people who struggle with life. They lose their jobs, experience death in their family or suffer diseases. Help those as you can. This is the story. Is there anyone who can share something you read during the holidays in class 博雅培文学校2024-2025学年高二上学期第三次阶段测试

Born in 1904, Drew was the eldest of five children. He was intelligent and showed a talent for studies and sports from a young age. In 1922, his athletic ability earned him an athletic scholarship to attend Amherst College in Massachusetts. Drew graduated from Amherst College in 1926. In 1928 he applied to medical schools and was admitted to MeGill University in Montreal, Canada. He completed his medical degree and master’s degree in surgery in 1933.

Math anxiety has become a common psychological condition among students around the world. Students in countries with higher levels of math anxiety tend to achieve lower math grades, according to a study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences on Feb 15.
Math anxiety--a negative emotional reaction to the core subject--causes fear, physical suffering and behavior problems among young pupils, according to a University of Cambridge study. In ordinary life, many people experience some degree of discomfort when confronted with a math problem, ranging from mild tension to strong fear.
Some people also experience physical symptoms such as sweaty palms or a racing heart. They may then try to avoid numbers-related situations, meaning they are held back from pursuing careers related to the subject, such as science, technology or engineering, according to The Guardian.
Relief comes from the fact that those with math anxiety aren’t destined to be bad at math. “If a child has math anxiety, don’t assume that they’re not good at math. They may have had a really bad experience with math,” Daniel Ansari, the senior author of the study told The London Free Press. “Students with math anxiety are not cognitively(认知地) disadvantaged.”
Also, there are ways to manage your math-related stress. If you’re stressed before a math exam, spend a few minutes exploring those feelings before the exam begins. “It’s about making sure you’re interpreting your feelings correctly,” Sian Beilock, a cognitive scientist told the BBC. “A fast heartbeat and sweaty palms don't necessarily mean you will fail.”
A little math anxiety could be taken as a positive challenge to overcome. Just like many people get stage fright before delivering a speech, this nervous energy can help to motivate, according to Ian Lyons, a psychologist at Georgetown University.
Math doesn't come easy, no matter how clever you are. Leonardo da Vinci, the famous Italian artist, was a huge fan of mathematics. But his notebooks show that Da Vinci couldn't do fractions(分数). He could never grasp, for instance, that dividing a number by one-quarter is the same as multiplying by four, resulting in a higher number than the original.
28. What do we know about math anxiety
A. It is common merely among students.
B. It can cause physical and emotional discomfort.
C. People with math anxiety are often bad at maths.
D. It leads to people struggling in their career.
29. Which of the following statements will Daniel Ansari agree with according to his study
A. Math anxiety may contribute to better grades.
B. Bad experience with math can cause cognitive disadvantages.
C. Math anxiety is not related to the ability to solve math problems.
D. Students with math anxiety may indeed experience lower math scores.
30. How should you deal with the stress related to math according to the article
A. Avoid thinking about failures in math. B. Learn to make sense of your feelings.
C. Take all nervous energy as a challenge. D. Pay little attention to your math anxiety.
31. Why is Leonardo da Vinci's story mentioned
A. To show that math anxiety is very common.
B. To suggest a way to solve math anxiety.
C. To show it’s not easy for da Vinci to learn math.
D. To explain why math is a difficult subject to learn.
D
The Olympic Games, among the world's most significant sports events, not only demonstrate the high level of athletic competition but also serve as a symbol of global cultural exchange and unity. However, they face an aging audience and declining viewership(收视率). The median age of American viewers was 39 in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, rising to 53 by the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. The Tokyo 2021 viewership dropped by a third compared to 2008 .
To attract younger audiences and stay relevant, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach has acknowledged the need for the Olympics to evolve, adding youth- based "sports. Climbing, skateboarding, and surfing were included in Tokyo, and break dancing made its first appearance in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
To further broaden appeal, esports(电子竞技) could be the key. With a massive following, esports could attract large audiences and add income through media rights and sponsorships(赞助商). Esports could also bring Olympic glory to a diverse range of countries and represent the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect.
However, the IOC's approach to esports has been cautious. The inaugural(首次的) Olympic Esports Week in Singapore in June 2023 was met with confusion among fans, with events like archery and Just Dance not reflecting as expected, attracting a peak viewership of only 22 ,000.
Recognizing esports' potential, the IOC has officially included esports in the Olympic Movement with the Olympic Esports Games in Saudi Arabia in 2025. This decision is in line with the principles of the Olympic Agenda 2020 + 5, which advocates for gender(性别) equality, inclusiveness, and diversity. By embracing esports, the Olympics can attract younger audiences, expand its global reach, and maintain its status as a popular sports and entertainment event.
32. What can be inferred from the first paragraph about the Olympic Games
A. The Olympic Games have always been popular among young viewers.
B. The IOC has not recognized the changing viewer trends.
C. The median age of Olympic viewers has remained stable over time.
D. The Olympic Games are becoming less popular in America.
33. How do the Olympics keep connected with society
A. By focusing on traditional sports.
B. By adding sports that appeal to younger audiences.
C. By reducing the number of events in the Games.
D. By hosting the Games in countries with diverse cultures.
34. What was the public' 's attitude toward the inaugural Olympic Esports Week
A. Tolerant.
B. Unclear .
C. Supportive.
D. Uninterested.
35. What is the last paragraph mainly about
A. Distinctions between traditional sports and esports.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
The first time we set eyes on “Big Red”, father, mother and I were on our way home. As we passed the Eaton’s department store’s window, we stopped as usual to have a look and do a bit of dreaming.
The beautifully decorated window display held the best toys ever. There were dolls much too pretty to play with. And they all lay beneath a surprisingly fantastic dress. Mother’s eyes were glued to its shining red satin(缎子).
“My goodness,” she whispered. “Look, at that!” Then, mother looked down at her own coat - she had worn the heavy gray wool coat every winter for as long as I could remember. Mom was forever doing chores-washing laundry, tending the pigs and working in the garden-so she always wore house-dresses and an apron(围裙)to protect the front. She did have one or two “special” dresses saved for church on Sundays. Also, she managed to make almost all of our clothes. They weren’t fancy, but they were comfortable.
“What a silly dress!” She shook her head. “Who on earth would want such a big dress ” As we continued down the street, mother turned her head for one more look. “My goodness! You’d think they’d display something a person could use!”
Mother’s Day was nearing, and the red dress was soon forgotten. Mother, of all people, was not one to spend money on items that were not practical. “There are things we need more than this.” She’d always say. Choosing a gift for Mother’s Day for her was quite hard. When Dad and I asked, she thought carefully then asked for some tea towels, face cloths or a new basin(水盆).
On our last trip to town before Mother’s Day, we were driving up Main Street when Mother suddenly shouted in surprise: “Look!” She pointed excitedly as Dad drove past Eaton’s. “That big red dress is gone,” she said in disbelief. “Who’d be fool enough to buy such a dress ” Mother questioned, shaking her head. I was almost certain that I noticed a trace of longing(一丝渴望) in her voice.
