It was impossible for me to change that tire! A thought that a passing motorist might stop disappeared at once. Why would anyone I knew I wouldn’t. Then I remembered that a short distance up a little side road was a house. I started the engine and drove slowly until I came to that house.I honked the horn (鸣笛). Then the door opened and a little girl about eight stood there. I rolled down the window and called out that I needed someone to change the flat tire because I was disabled and couldn’t do it myself. A moment later, the girl came out with raincoat and hat, followed by a man who called a cheerful greeting. I sat there comfortably and dryly, and felt sorry for the man and the little girl working so hard in the storm. Well, I would pay them for it. The rain seemed to be little now, and I rolled down the window to watch. It seemed to me that they were awfully slow and I was beginning to become impatient. Finally, it was done and then they were standing at my car window. He said, “This is a bad night for car trouble, but you’re all set now. ” “Thanks,” I said. “How much do I owe you ” He shook his head. “Nothing. Cynthia told me you were on crutches (腋杖). Glad to be of help. There’s no charge. ” I held out a five-dollar bill, but he made no effort to take it and the little girl stepped closer to me and said, “Grandpa can’t see it. ”A blind old man and a child! They were just working with cold, wet fingers for tools in the dark—a darkness that for him would probably never end until death. I don’t remember how long I sat there after they said good night, but it was long enough for me to search deep within myself. I realized that I was filled with self-pity, selfishness, indifference to the needs of others.Helping others is a way of life, one that I am trying to follow. It isn’t always easy, but the value is there. I am trying now not only to climb 14 steps each day, but in my small way to help others.24. Maybe your friends from junior high school are going to a different senior high school. Even if you know other freshmen (一年级学生), you still feel jittery that you don’t know any upperclassmen. How are you going to make friends among this sea of unknown faces Most senior high schools hold the freshman orientation (迎新会) before school actually starts. It is helpful because you not only learn your way around the building but also get to meet some of your teachers and fellow freshmen. That way, when you show up on your first day of school, you may already recognize a few familiar faces. When you talk to people at orientation, you’ll probably find that a lot of them are feeling just like you are. They’re all new to the school and don’t know what to expect. Talking about a common concern with your classmates can help you develop friendships. The work in senior high school is something freshmen are probably worried about. It builds on what you learned in junior high school, giving you a more advanced (高深的) knowledge of many subjects. So you may find you have more work to do or that it’s a bit more challenging. If you ever find your work too difficult, teachers can give you extra help.Senior high school also has more after-school activities than junior high school, such as clubs, music and theater groups and sports teams. This is a good time to explore your interests and try new things.Junior high school taught you the basics of time management and social skills while providing you with a little extra support and guidance. Here are some ways to show your grandparents how much you appreciate them.Surprise them. Though Grandparents’ Day has been marked for 40 years, many families don’t know about it. If you haven’t observed it before, give them a surprise this year. 36Spend time together. Many grandparents say they wish they had more individual time with their grandchildren. So one of the best things you can do for Grandparents’ Day is to simply spend time together. 37 Another way to connect is to ask your grandparents to teach you about one of their hobbies and then do it together. While you do this, tell them about what’s going on in your life.Record a message. If you can’t physically be with your grandparents, consider sending them a special message. Ask your parents for help recording you on video. 38 Then share some of your favorite memories of times you’ve spent with them. It’s like a digital card, and your grandparents can watch it when they’re missing you.39 A survey showed that 90% of grandparents think it’s important that their grandkids know about the heritage they share. Many grandparents are like the historians of their family. 40 They know the most about where your relatives came from. To learn about the past of your family, you can go through old photos with them. Another option is to interview a grandparent on video and share the result with the rest of your family.A. Share your life with them.B. Preserve your family history.C. Teach them the tips for making videos.D. You can start by wishing them a happy Grandparents’ Day.E. They remember stories about when your parents were young.F. You could plan to share a meal, go for a walk, or read together.G. Although her singing was very pleasant to hear, lacking courage, she never dared to sing in front of strangers. One summer, the neighborhood where she lived would hold a singing competition. Her best friend, Lucy, came to invite her to participate in the competition, but Emily said, “I’m afraid to take part in it. ” Her mother said, “It’s okay; just do it bravely. ” Emily followed her mama’s advice and decided to give it a try. The day came. Emily and Lucy went to the competition site. But she was too timid (胆小的) to walk onto the stage. She had been waiting until others finished singing. Tell me what happened to you,” asked her mom. Emily looked up at her mother and told her what she had experienced.Listening to her, her mom cupped her face in her hands and said, “It doesn’t matter, my girl.As long as you practice singing more in front of strangers, you will become braver little by little. So, my girl, don’t be beaten by a failure. You can go out to practice singing every day. No matter who is listening to you, go on singing and never stop. I believe there will be a harvest for you. ”Paragraph1: Emily listened to her mother carefully and followed her suggestion. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Paragraph 2: Going on singing, she walked into the park, where many people were singing and dancing._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________期末联考高二英语答案第一部分听力(共20小题,每小题1. 5分,满分30分)1-5 BACBA 6-10 ACCBA 11-15 ABCBB 16-20 CCABA第二部分阅读理解(共两节,满分50分)第一节(共15小题;每小题2. 5分,满分37. 5分)21. Frankly, I hold the view that it is perfectly reasonable to study abroad. The reasons are as follows. To begin with, exposure to a foreign language setting while we are studying abroad makes the learning process engaging and effective. Moreover, bathed in a different culture of a foreign country, we can gain great insights into the world because cross-cultural experiences can give us a global perspective. Studying abroad takes us out of our comfort zone and changes us for the better. All things considered, I hope you can choose to study abroad and start a new life.Yours,Li Hua第二节(满分25分)Paragraph 1:Emily listened to her carefully and followed her suggestion. The next day, she began to practice singing outside. Gradually, she became more and more confident and her singing voice became louder and louder. Months later, she could sing as she was walking in spite of many strangers. One day, when she was singing, the naughty boys who had laughed at her before cried to her, "Emily, coward! Emily, coward!" However, she chose to ignore their behavior.Paragraph 2:Going on singing, she walked into the park, where many people were singing and dancing. Hearing her beautiful voice, some stopped to listen to her singing and clapped for her. Emily felt pleased that she could sing confidently in front of strangers. The next year, the neighborhood held the singing competition again. This time, Emily walked onto the stage bravely, and her loud and beautiful voice of singing moved all the people. They all cheered for her, including those who had laughed at her. Her mother and Lucy were delighted to see the timid girl had become a brave one.附: 听力参考材料text 1.【原文】W: What did you think of that new restaurant M: I didn’t like anything on the menu! The great love of my life since I was a small girl was writing, which my family thought was surprising. Anyway, I trained to be a nurse. But whenever I had free time, I wrote. Then the strangest thing happened. I’d been nursing a very old woman for several months in a hospital. She told me that although she had many relatives, no one came to visit her. She said she would leave me a lot of money when she died. I thought that she was joking. But she wasn’t! After she died, I became rich. I was determined not to waste money. I wanted to do something for my family, but they said it was my money and they knew I would use it properly. Then I went to America and did a degree in creative writing. I learned a great deal from the lecturers and other writers on the course. Now, I want to do something to help other young writers. I’m thinking of setting up a publishing firm named after the old lady who helped me achieve my life’s ambition! 展开更多...... 收起↑ 资源预览
