In our life, many people may have a mental (心理的) problem. Some people may get over it, but others may not go away easily.
The World Health Organization (WHO) says that about 20 percent of teenagers around the world are having mental problems. It predicts that the number will be much larger years later.
In China, the situation isn’t good, either. About 10 percent of teenagers under 17 have a mental problem.
“These days, students spend most of their time studying and building up relationships with classmates and teachers. With more people, the competition is harder at school,” the WHO said. A study also found that students’ unhappiness came from the Internet. “Online, teenagers often see messages about perfection (完美) and these make them get worried about themselves for not being the best. But they shouldn’t worry about such things at all,” said an expert.
Some doctors also say that teenagers don’t ask for help when they have mental problems. They are afraid that others will laugh at them. And in the UK, over 75 percent of teenagers believe having mental problems is their own problem. A study showed in 2017 that a quarter of teenagers in the UK wouldn’t ask for help if they had a mental problem. “I don’t want others, even the doctors, to know what I’m thinking. So, I may help myself out,” some teenagers said.
“These people may be creating problems for themselves in the future,” the expert said. “My advice for teenagers is, if you feel something is wrong, just ask for help. The earlier you ask, the better you will get.”

So, let’s rethink what’s really important. Is it fashion or is it our well-being Clothes or hairstyles don’t tell us anything about a character. Instead of a lot of time choosing clothes, we should use that time to do fun things with friends. And instead of following extreme diets, let’s eat properly and exercise regularly. The world itself is becoming much smaller by using modern traffic and modern communication means. Life today is much easier than it was hundreds of years ago, but it has brought new problems. One of the biggest is pollution. Pollution comes in many ways. We see it, smell it, drink it and even hear it.
Men have been polluting the earth. The more people, the more pollution. Many years ago, the problem was not so serious because there were not so many people. When the land was used up or the river was dirty in one place, man moved to another place. But this is no longer true. Man is now slowly polluting the whole world.
Air pollution is still the most serious. It’s bad for all living things in the world, but it is not the only one kind of pollution. Water pollution kills our fish and pollutes our drinking water. Noise pollution makes us angry more easily.
Many countries are making rules to fight pollution. They stop people from burning coal in houses and factories in the city, and from putting dirty smoke into the air. Pollution by SO , is now one of the most dangerous kind of air pollution. It is caused by heavy traffic. We are sure that if there are fewer people driving, there will be less air pollution.

The long history of China leaves us thousands of stories. Now, here is one book that tells some of them. Do you think you would enjoy following the lives of people in ancient China If so, you can try A New Account of Tales of the World (《世说新语》). It’s said that the scholar (学者) Liu Yiqing finished this book.
In this book, there are more than 600 characters, such as writers, painters, musicians, and other artists living during the Han, Wei and Jin dynasties. Some describe what the characters look like. Some are about what the characters are good at. Some tell readers why the characters think this way. Each story has its own topic but every article has something in common — showing someone’s most special traits. And all the characters in the book are real in history. The book has 1,130 small stories about these characters. Many stories are one hundred words long or even shorter. And many stories may not be facts. They might come from another novel. Or people heard something about one character and then it became a story in this book. It sounds like A New Account of Tales of the World is simply a storybook. But in fact, many scholars like Lu Xun ever talked about how important this book was. Well, how does this special book have its place in Chinese literature (文学)
First, it’s the earliest book of this kind so it became something special in the Chinese literature’s development. Second, although the stories are short, they help make readers think seriously about their life or something else. The book has much to say about both the large and the small thoughts of life.

After the 2022 Spring Festival Gala, an amazing show called The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting (《只此青绿》) became a hit (受欢迎的事物). The show is based on a classical Chinese painting—A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains (千里江山图) by Wang Ximeng, an artist who lived during the Song Dynasty (960-1279). Watching the show is like going on a journey back to the Song Dynasty. The painting is now kept in the Palace Museum in Beijing.
Netizens made a word for the challenging move —“ blue- green waist (青绿腰)”. In fact, the bend (弯曲) in the show is meant to sketch the shape of steep cliffs and winding mountains in the painting. A number of people take on the challenge by bending backward. Some dancers even bend backward at a 90-degree angle. The graceful but difficult backbend has become popular. However, without years of training or proper instructions (指导), people may hurt their bones (骨头).
The dancers in the show have trained for years before getting on stage. Learn to Love Yourself
Do you ever compare yourself to other people and wish you could be more like them We are all different in our own way. Self-acceptance (自我接纳) can help you feel happier and better about yourself.
What is self-acceptance
Self-acceptance means learning to accept the things that make you who you are. As well as being thankful for what you’re good at, like sports, science or singing in the school choir, self-acceptance also means valuing (重视) the parts of you that don’t shine very brightly, like being forgetful or untidy. A 12-year-old girl, Lily, says self-acceptance means “knowing your own weaknesses and strengths (强项), and accepting who you are no matter what other people say or think.”
Why is self-acceptance good for you
When you accept who you are, you worry less about things you can’t change. This makes you feel happier and more confident (自信的). The Anna Freud Centre, a charity (慈善机构) that helps young people, says everyone can feel that they have to be perfect, but that makes us forget about the little things that make us special, because we’re so busy trying to meet someone else’s standards. Learning to accept everything about yourself can also help you find what you’re really good at. For example, some people may find letters or numbers hard to read, but they might have strengths in other things, like finding good ways to work out problems.
5._________________________
Start by making a list of all the things you like about yourself. Maybe you’re good at cooking, or people find it easy to talk to you. Also, try saying kind, happy things to yourself in a mirror (镜子) every morning. The loveliest house that I have ever lived in is Crosslands. I lived there with my grandparents when I was a child.
The house seemed so huge to me as a child. And it had a lovely living room with a piano in it. And there was a strange room. It was the drawing room. We only used it on Sundays, or when visitors came for tea. There was the best furniture (家具) in it but it was covered with sheet (布罩)—it was as if all the furniture wore clothes. We couldn’t enjoy this beautiful furniture.
I went back to the house a few weeks ago. It has changed a lot. My uncle has renovated (翻新) it, and taken away the lovely furniture. And he has pushed over (推倒) a wall so the drawing room and the living room have become one big room.
Although it becomes modern, its old style is the most beautiful in my heart. When I see the house, I know I can’t go back and have it again. But there’s still a beautiful memory.

Scientists think that there has been life on the earth for hundreds of millions of years. However, we have not found life on any other planets yet.
The earth is a planet and it goes around the sun. Seven other planets also go around the sun. None of them has an environment like that of the earth, so scientists do not think they will find life on them. The sun and its planets are called the solar system, and our solar system is a small part of a much larger group of stars and planets, called the Galaxy or the Milky Way. There are billions of stars in the Galaxy, and our sun is only one of them.
Scientists have also discovered many other galaxies in the universe. They are very far away and their light has to travel for many years to reach us. So how large is the universe 这是无法想象的。
Scientists have sent spaceships to the planet Mars to take photos. They have even sent spaceships to travel outside the solar system. However, no spaceship has travelled far enough to reach other stars in our Galaxy.
Scientists have always asked the questions: with so many stars in the universe, are we alone, or is there life out there in space Have there been visitors to the earth from other planets Why has no one communicated with us We do not know the answers...yet.

Friendship Day is a great day for celebrating friendship. It falls on the first Sunday of August every year. Celebrating the festival was firstly started by the US in 1935. But now this doesn’t only happen in the US. People in other countries are interested in it, too.
The idea of spending the day with friends was spread all over the world. With more and more countries joining in the celebrations, Friendship Day soon became an international festival.
Between 1935 and 1997, Friendship Day didn’t have a symbol (象征), like Santa Claus for Christmas. However, in 1997, the United Nations named Winnie the Pooh as the world’s Ambassador (大使) of Friendship.
The traditional celebrations include activities such as meeting with friends and exchanging (交换) cards, flowers and gifts. Some people may have parties with their friends. Some may have lunch or dinner together. Others may hang out or go to the movies with friends on this special day. These are popular among all age groups from teenagers to old people.
Although Friendship Day and its celebrations may have changed over the years, the basic idea behind the festival remains (保持) the same. People enjoy the moment they spend together and express love and care for their friends.
