I am writing toapply for on-campus accommodation.Living on campus will allow me to fully immerse in the college’s academic and social life, enhancing my study experience. I believe my enthusiasm for group activities and ability to adaptquickly to new environments make me a suitable candidate for on-campus living. I am eager tointegrate into the new environment and contribute positively to the community.Thank you for considering my application. I am excited about the prospect of becoming astudent here and eager to hear about the accommodation options available to me.Yours sincerely,Li Hua第二节:(满分 25分)“Help me sit there”, he demanded, pointing to a bench. Considering that I can do whateveron my birthday, I was about to turn him down when his shaking legs and bent knees forced me togrip his arms and lower him down nice and slow. “Thank you!” he said, breathing hard like he hadclimbed a hill. Then he talked about his youth and his adventures in the mountains. I listenedintently and asked good questions, realizing that there was more to him than just the grumpy oldman I had seen earlier. It hit me how selfish I was. I had been so focused on my own desires and frustrations that Ihad failed to see Grandpa as a person with his own stories and struggles. Thinking of all theattempts he had made to connect with me, I realized how impatient and disrespectful I was. It wasthen that I resolved to be more understanding and patient. When we returned to the party for thecake, I apologized to Grandpa and was responded with a big hug of forgiveness. In cheers of“happy birthday,” I shed tears again, but it somewhat felt more like my birthday than ever.听力稿Text 1M: Hey, do you want to go to the mall with me later I have to buy some supplies for school.M: I wish I could. But I've canceled on my trainer twice this week. I have to go to the fitnesscenter today. (1)Text 2M: We're not in any rush to leave. Let's wait for others to get here and then place our order.W: But I'm already starving. We can order first and just add some more dishes when theycome. (2) It's not like they'll be angry.Text 3M: Excuse me, but I think this seat, 15G, is mine.W: That's strange. Mine is 15G, too. Here's my ticket.M: Sorry, ma'am. Your train is E55. This is E50. (3)Text 4M:My dad said not to spend more than S30 on his gift, but I found the perfect thing forhim is $20 over the limit.W: Just buy it! It's not like he'll even know how much you spent.M: You're right! (4)Text 5W: Were you able to finish all your homework The stuff I got from my math class was waytoo much.M: Luckily, I was able to finish all of mine. My mom said she wouldn't let me go to thefootball game otherwise. (5)Text 6M: So, what do you think W: It's very...bright.M:Well, I'm a bright sort of guy, and this is my favorite color. (6)W: You don't see many yellow cars. (6) I thought I was being adventurous when I bought a redone.M: Red cars, blue cars...everyone has them. This one really stands out.W: It certainly does. Is it fast M:Well, I set off from home at 6:30 and got here at 6:45, (7) so that's not bad, is it W: I hope you didn't break any speed limits. (8)W: You shouldn't worry if it's just been a day. Cats are moody. He's probably just upset thatSarah's been gone for a few days. (9)M: Well, she'll be gone for a while. If he doesn't eat the whole time, you'll have to explain toour daughter how we let the cat become all skin and bones while she was having fun atsummer camp. She can't take him withher.Text 8M: So, what inspired you to write these stories W: It was actually my time in the Chinese countryside. You see, I had originally gone there toteach at a village school, and it was only supposed to be for a year. But then I agreed to stayon for an additional two years after that. (11)M: And why did you decide to stay Didn't you miss the city life After all, you grew up inBeijing. (12)W: That's true, but I also spent a long time in the Italian countryside after college. There'ssomething very beautiful about rural life, no matter where it is. That's why I stayed and why Iwanted to write a collection of short stories that captured the heart of the people still living invillages.M: I've only read the first two stories, but so far, the book really creates beautiful images ofpeaceful places. They're filled with hard-working people. You must be really proud. (13)W: I just wanted to make something realistic and emotional. I like to think I've succeeded.Text 9W: Thomas, have you decided yet what you would like to do when you leave school M: I haven't made a definite decision yet. That is why I have come here to check out some of theoptions.W: I guess you are thinking of going to university before starting work M: I'm hoping so...(14)W: Well, we have a few people here this evening who can talk to you about different careers forgraduates. There are signs on the desks to say who they represent, starting with "A" for army.M: I don't think I'll be talking to them.W: What would you like to know about I know you get very good marks in English andgeography.M: I am very interested in what the Earth is made of - the composition of the mountains andthe way volcanoes shape the planet. (15)W: Oh yes, that does sound interesting, doesn't it M: I think so. Martin's dad does that kind of work and I like the sound of it.W: Martin's dad is here tonight, at the Earth Search desk. You might want to have a talkwith Planet Science as well. (16)M: OK. Is there anyone else who might be able to give me information (16)W: Not on that subject, I think. (16)M: I'll just meet them then. (16)Text 10A team of English scientists found a surprising fix to a common problem. The study published inthe journal, Nature, showed that spreading certain types of rock over unused farming fieldsactually cut carbon pollution. Not only did it improve the air, but the rock dust is great forfuture crops. (17) Because of the minerals in the rock, the plants grow much healthier. Treeplanting is always mentioned as a cost-effective way to fight carbon pollution. However, thattakes many years and the plants are not guaranteed to live. Spreading certain types of rockwill not only work faster, but the rock is easily available. (18) According to the scientists, rockmines produce so much of this dust that farmers would be paid to take it away and use it.(19) Prof. David Berling is a lead author of the study. He says that if governments keep a closeeye on the data, we will be able to see quick changes in carbon air pollution. In addition, themineral mines have already had all the trucks and equipment they need to deliver the dust. They don't need to mine or dig for anything different. In fact, it would just direct the truckstowards farms, rather than to where they now throw the waste. (20) 展开更多...... 收起↑ 资源预览
