教学内容
本课时系教材《英语基础教程》(1)第九单元的第一课时,包括Lead-in & Listening and speaking两部分,具体内容为:复习表达活动及兴趣爱好的词汇与短语,听懂并掌握申请加入某一俱乐部的简单对话,能就活动及申请条件等相关信息进行简单描述,并就俱乐部相关信息进行询问和了解。

三、教学步骤
Step One Lead-in
Ask Ss to read the title of this unit and guess what will be learned in this unit. Elicit the topic of this unit to the Ss.
(设计意图:通过本单元的题目引入本单元的话题,让学生了解本单元所涉及的内容。)
Activity 1. Look and match.
Show the pictures in Activity 1 on PPT (without the phrases outside the diamond lattices). Q: What are they doing (chatting, playing basketball, making cakes, making flash, reading stories, dancing)
(设计意图:引导学生根据图片说出关活动,复习有关活动的词汇。)
Show the form and instruct Ss to fill in the form to classify the activities with the clubs. Ask Ss to give more activities which the clubs can provide. Add them into the form.

Activity 2. Listen and circle.
Play the audio of Dialogue 1. Q: What kind of club does Lily want to join in Instruct Ss to tick the clubs according to the listening.

Activity 3. Listen and choose.
Instruct Ss to read the items in Activity 3 and attend to the following questions, then play the audio again and do Activity 3. Check the answer, play once more if necessary.
Where does Lily go to ask about clubs (Students’ Center.)
Who is the club open to (Making flash.)
What should Lily do if he wants to join the club ( Fill in the application form.)

Activity 4. Listen and fill.
Play the audio once more, ask Ss to fill in the blanks according to their listening.
What activities do you have in the Computer club
We have lots of activities here, like flash-making, computer maintenance, and program writing.
You’ll have many chances to practice your computer skills.
The club is open to anyone interested in computer.
Oh, I’m crazy about flash-making.
Play the audio again. Ss read the sentences with blanks in Activity 4 and fill in the blanks according to the listening. Check the answer, play once more if necessary.

Activity 5. Listen and repeat.
Tell Ss that they will listen to another dialogue and show the questions:
What kind of club does Lily want to join in this time (English club)
What are the qualifications for the club (Anyone interested in English.)
How much is the membership for the club (Free.)
What should Lily do first (Apply and fill in the application form.)
Play the Dialogue 2, instruct Ss to answer the questions above.

Play the audio again, ask Ss to fill in the blanks without reading the dialogue in Activity 5.

We have lots of activities here, like English competition, English drama, English debate, and English movie night!

The club is open to anyone interested in English.
I’m crazy about English movies.

Ask Ss to read after the audio sentence by sentence and pay attention to imitate the tone of the audio. (Or read after the teacher if necessary.) Then Ss read altogether by themselves both in groups and altogether.

Step Three Production
Instruct Ss to find out the sentence patterns about telling interests and asking information about joining a club in the dialogue, then read aloud. Mark these sentence patterns on their textbooks if necessary.

Step One Lead-in
Check the homework in last period. Ask Ss to tell the benefits of one of the clubs to the class and write down the benefits on the blackboard. The following sentence patterns may be used:

Ss read the dialogue in Activity 5 and the text in Activity 8 altogether and translate the following sentences.

Step Two Language in use
Grammar focus. Ask Ss to read Grammar focus, pay attention to the structure of the sentences in simple future tense. Ss read aloud the example sentences altogether.
Instruct Ss to conclude the structure of the simple future tense from the following forms:

Ask Ss to sum up the structure:
Affirmative Form will /shall + V. be going to +V.
Negative Form will /shall not + V. be not going to +V.

Explain the usage of the simple future tense with examples.
shall/will do 和be going to do都可用来表示将来某个时间要发生的动作或存在的状态。也表示将来经常或反复发生的动作,常与表示将来的时间状语连用。
shall/will do强调将要发生的事情或者可能发生的状况,如:
I hope you’ll have a good journey. 我希望你旅途愉快。
I’ll study harder at English. 我将更加努力地学习英语。
be going to do 表示将要发生的事,强调计划、打算、决定要去做某事,如:
There is going to be a football game between China and Korea this evening.今天傍晚将有一场中国对韩国的足球赛。

Instruct Ss to find out the sentences of simple future tense in the dialogue of Activity 5 and the text in Activity 8, attend to the structure of simple future tense.

You will experience the excitement of making flash all by yourself.
Cooking club is going to invite new members to experience the pleasure of cooking.

Activity 11. Read and complete.
Ss do Activity 11. Check the answers and ask Ss the reason why they choose so. Explain the difference between the simple future tense and the simple present tense. Instruct Ss to understand that the simple future refers to the future.

More examples.
Give more examples and instruct Ss to think about when and how we used the simple future tense. Explain the usage of the simple future tense by giving more examples if necessary.
What shall we do if he doesn’t come 如果他不来,我们该怎么办?
We’re going to visit the museum tomorrow. 我们准备明天去参观博物馆。
Explain the structure of the sentences of simple future tense. Emphases that the negative structure is to add not after will or be, and the interrogative structure is to take will or be in front of the sentence.
Affirmative sentence: He will not go to see his mother every Saturday.
Negative sentence: I’m not going to do my homework this afternoon.
Interrogative sentence: What club are you going to join
Instruct Ss to classify the sentences of simple future tense on P102 into affirmative, negative or interrogative sentences.
Affirmative sentence: shall/will do; be going to do
I’m going to join Cooking Club.
He is going to attend the English party this Sunday afternoon.
There will be a chess contest in our school.
Negative sentence: shall not / shan’t; will not /won’t; be not going to do
I won’t take the computer class tomorrow.
Interrogative sentence: Shall / Will … do; Be … going to do

Will you go to the cinema with other club members

Ask Ss to change the sentences on P102 into the other forms in pairs:
A. Change into negative and interrogative forms:
I’m going to join Cooking Club.
He is going to attend the English party this Sunday afternoon.
There will be a chess contest in our school.
B. Change into affirmative and interrogative forms:
I won’t take the computer class tomorrow.
C. Change into affirmative and negative forms:
Which club are you going to join
What will you do tomorrow evening
Will you go to the cinema with other club members
Ask each of Ss to write down an affirmative sentence on their notebooks, then work in pairs with 3 Ss on changing forms of the simple future tense sentences. One speaks out a sentence of simple future tense in affirmative form, the other two change the form into negative and interrogative forms. Write down the sentences on the blackboard.
Activity 12. Read and match.
Ask Ss to read the sentences on the left, try to understand the meaning of these sentences and do Activity 12.
Instruct Ss to find out the sentences of simple future tense, underline the structure and pay attention to the time with the simple future tense.
What will the weather be like this evening It’s going to snow.
Will you eat out with me But I’m going to meet my friend at the airport.
What’s your plan for this weekend My family are going to have a picnic.
Drink some hot tea, or you will probably have a cold.

Step Three Production:Activity 13. Think and write.
Instruct Ss to attend to the time in the sentences of simple future tense in Grammar focus on P102, underline the time.
He is going to attend the English party this Sunday afternoon.
I won’t take the computer class tomorrow.
What will you do tomorrow evening
(设计意图:加深对一般将来时用法的了解,为下一步练习做准备,巩固一般将来时的句型及用法。)
Ss read the requirement of Activity 13. Ask Ss to tell the meaning of these phrases and make sentences with the simple future tense with will or be going to, write down these sentences. Ask some of Ss to write the sentences down on blackboard and tell the class.

Ss complete the email on P104 according to the sentences they have made, use the first 3 phrases. Ask some of Ss to read the email out to the class to share the plan of the weekend.

Instruct Ss to think about the best way to make friends and write them down on the blackboard. Ss do Activity 7 and choose the best way from these ways.

Activity 8. Read, circle and underline.
Ss go through the text in Activity 8 quickly, mark the new words. Write the new words on the blackboard. Ask Ss to read aloud and try to understand the meaning of these words, explain them if necessary.

本课包括Vocabulary practice及Supplementary Reading部分,具体内容为:复习本单元词汇与短语的用法,完成相关练习;阅读拓展阅读中的短文,能够读懂文章内容并完成相关阅读练习。

二、教学目标
知识目标
(1)熟记本单元有关加入俱乐部要求及参加俱乐部活动益处的词汇与短语。
(2)学习拓展阅读短文中出现的词汇和短语,如:
shimmering, view, hiking, embrace, nature, fantastic, aerobic, scenery, relax, task, freedom, hesitate
in the woods, go for a walk, build up, aerobic exercise, work out, go hiking, run away, call for, let … down
能力目标
(1)复习本单元词汇与短语及一般将来时的基本用法,能熟练运用这些词汇及句型,完成相关练习。
(2)能读懂拓展阅读中的短文并完成相关阅读练习。

了解徒步旅行的益处,培养学生热爱生活的意识,形成积极向上的积极心态。
三、教学步骤
Step One Lead-in
Check the homework of last period. Ask some of Ss to read the email to the class with the other phrases in Activity 13 on P104. Make comments on these emails.

Ss read the words and expressions on P106-107 after the teacher, then read altogether.
(设计意图:进一步熟悉本单元所学词汇与短语,巩固所学内容。)
Step Two Vocabulary practice
Activity 14. Read and match.
Ask Ss to read the explanation and get their meaning, then match the words on the left. Check the answer after Ss have completed.
Keys: a-3 b-1 c-4 d-2
(设计意图:让学生先读释义再进行搭配,复习本单元词汇,巩固词义。)
Activity 15. Match and label.
Ask Ss to read the words on the left. Explain the meaning and ask Ss to attend to the context. Make them to form phrases and match these phrases with the corresponding pictures.
Keys:
1 - fill in the form 2 - be good at swimming 3 - join a club
4 - have a party 5 – apply for a job

Activity 16. Read and complete.
Ss read the phrases in the block and tell the meaning of these phrases.
Ask Ss to read the sentences and fill in the blanks according to the context, pay attention to the tense of the sentences, then translate them into Chinese.

Step Three Supplementary Reading
Ss read the passage on P107, underline the new words and get the meaning from the word list on P108. Explain the meaning if there are still new words.

Ss read the sentences of Read and decide, then read the passage once more and decide true or false by giving the reason to the class after reading, underline the reason if necessary.

Ss read the sentences of Read and answer, then read the passage again and answer the questions.

Step Four Summary
Ask Ss to make a short summary of what Ss have learned in this period.

Simple future tense usage.
shall/will do 和be going to do都可用来表示将来某个时间要发生的动作或存在的状态。也表示将来经常或反复发生的动作,常与表示将来的时间状语连用。
shall/will do强调将要发生的事情或者可能发生的状况。be going to do 表示将要发生的事,强调计划、打算、决定要去做某事。

Step Five Production
Ss do the exercises of Part I in workbook. Make comments after Ss complete.

Complete the part “Translation” in the workbook.
