数词的特殊表达、数词的运算、基数词与序数词的转换和数词的基本用法都是考查的重点。从考查形式看，一般有单项选择、完形填空、词语运用等。从命题意图看，侧重考查考生的具体语言环境中使用数词的能力。

一、基数词
1. hundred, thousand, million, billion的用法
在表示精确数量时，例如前边有具体数或many，hundred(百)，thousand(千)，million(百)，billion(十亿)不用复数形式。
There are two hundred people in the hall.
大厅里有200个人。
There are hundreds of people in the hall.
大厅里有数以百计的人。
2. 基数词表示顺序、编号
基数词表示顺序编号时，由“单数名词十基数词”构成，此时名词和基数词的第一个字母通常大写。
I am in Class One, Grade Nine. 我在九年级一班。
He lives in Room 302. 他住在302 房间。
You can take the No.3 bus.
=You can take Bus No.3.
你可以乘坐3路公交车。
3. 基数词的特殊位置
一般来说，基数词常用来表示精确的数量，它放在名词的前面，当another, more等对数词进行限定时，要注意相互之间的位置关系："another+基数词十名词复数"；"基数词+more+名词"。这两种表达都表示在已有基础上再增加一定的数量。
Can you have another two eggs
你能再吃两个鸡蛋吗？
She has got five more books to read.
她还有五本书要读。
4. “整十”的复数形式可表示几十年代或某人几十多岁
in the 1990s 在20世纪90年代
He began to teach when he was in his thirties.
他从30多岁开始教学。
5. 其他与基数词有关的应用
one/an hour and a half=one and a half hours 一个半小时
基数词前加every表示每一段时间或每隔一段时间
every ten days 每10天或每隔9天
二、序数词
1. 序数词的构成
基数词的形式 变序数词的规则 举例
一般 在基数词后加上-th four→ fourth
以-t结尾 在基数词后加-h eight→ eighth
以-e结尾 去e再加-th nine→ ninth
以-ve结尾 改ve为f，再加-th five→ fifth
以-ty结尾的整十数 改y为ie，再加-th twenty→ twentieth
20 以上的两位数 只变个位数 thirty-two→ thirty-second
特殊变化 one→ first, two→ second, three→ third
2. 序数词的用法
(1) 序数词表示顺序时，其前需用定冠词the，后面接单数名词。
The second lesson is more difficult than the first one.
第二课比第一课难。
(2) 表达日期。在表达“某月某日”时，“日”要用序数词。
on February 12th=on 12th February 在2月12日
on October lst,1949 在1949年10月1日
(3) 序数词前也可用不定冠词a(an)，表示“再……，又……”。
I've tried twice, but I'll try a third time.
我已试过两次了，但我将再试一次。
(4) 表达分数。用数词表达分数时，分子用基数词，分母要用序数词；如果分子大于1时，分母要用复数。
即：“分子基，分母序。分子大于1，分母加-s”。

重难延伸
①带有分数的词组作句子的主语时，谓语动词的单、复数形式要与分数后名词的数保持一致。
Two thirds of the work is hard to finish.
三分之二的工作很难完成。
Two thirds of the students in our class are League members.
我们班里三分之二的学生是团员。
②另外，"四分之一"常用a quarter表示；"四分之三"常用three quarters表示；"二分之一"常用a half表示。
