教学内容
教学重点: 观察具有代表性的例词,获取和梳理基数词与序数词的基本形式特征,了解其表意功能和使用规则。 教学难点: 根据语境正确使用基数词与序数词谈论自己的住宅、家庭成员及家庭生活。
教学过程
A Cardinal numbers 1. Have students answer the following questions according to the blog posts on page 8 and pay attention to the words in bold. (1) How many people are there in Femi’s family (2) How many floors does Neil’s house have (3) How many balconies does Li Mengtian have in her flat Possible answer: (1) There are seven people in Femi’s family. (2) Neil’s house has two floors. (3) She has one balcony in her flat. 2. Have students read the cardinal numbers 0-19 in the table on page 11. 3. Have students read the text about Neil’s home on page 11 and answer the following questions. (1) Where is Neil’s home (2) What is the area of his home (3) What is his phone number (4) How many pictures does he have on his phone Possible answer: (1) It is at 28 (twenty-eight) Rose Street. (2) It has an area of 160 (one hundred and sixty) square metres. (3) His phone number is 0207 000 1111 (o two o seven o o o one one one one). (4) He has about 1,000 (one thousand) pictures on his phone. 4. Have students think about the use of cardinal numbers and finish “Work out the rule!” on page 11. Answer: phone numbers 5. Have students look at the table on page 11 again and pay attention to the spelling. 6. Have students go through “Grammar check” from pages 141 to 142 and summarize how to form cardinal numbers 20-100. Give explanations if necessary. 7. Have students read the big numbers and the second tip on page 11 and then discuss how to read a big number. 8. Have students complete the sentences about Tina’s home with the correct cardinal numbers. Tina lives in a building with (1) ________ (18) floors. It is about (2) ________ (46) miles from Shanghai. It has an area of (3) ________ (150) square metres. Tina likes her study most, and there are about (4) ________ (1,000) books there. Answer: (1) eighteen (2) forty-six (3) one hundred and fifty (4) one thousand 9. Have students read the sentences about Simon’s home and family in Part A1 on page 11 and pay attention to the numbers. 10. Have students finish Part A2 on page 11. B Ordinal numbers 1. Have students read the sentences about Li Mengtian on page 12 and answer the following question. What kind of numbers are the words in bold Answer: They are ordinal numbers. 2. Have students finish “Work out the rule!” on page 12. Answer: floors 3. Have students observe the words in bold again, read the tip on page 12 and answer the following questions. (1) How do we form most ordinal numbers (2) How do we change a cardinal number ending in -y into its ordinal number Possible answer: (1) We form most ordinal numbers by adding -th to the cardinal numbers. (2) If a cardinal number ends in -y, we first change -y into -ie and then add -th to form its ordinal number. 4. Have students go through “Grammar check” on page 142. Give explanations if necessary. 5. Have students finish Part B1 on page 12. Answer: first; sixth; seventh; eighth; tenth; fourteenth; nineteenth; twenty-second; thirtieth; ninetieth; hundredth 6. Have students finish Part B2 on page 12. Answer: (1) twenty-second; fifteenth (2) seventh; first (3) third; thirteenth 7. Have students finish Part B3 on page 12. Possible answer: My family lives in a building with 28 floors. My home is on the sixteenth floor. There are only three people in my family. My mother is usually the first to get up every morning because she makes breakfast for us. I am the second one, and I often get up at 7:00 a.m. Every evening, I spend twenty minutes jogging with my father. I usually go to bed at 9:30 p.m. My family life is simple, but I like it very much. 8. Homework 1) 复习基数词和序数词的语法知识。 2) 完成作业单上本课时的练习。 3) 预习课本第13页Pronunciation课时。
