2. Analyze the text comprehensively, understand the current environmental problems and solutions, and enhance critical thinking and environmental awareness.

Step 1 Review
Activity 1 Review
Check the answers of the pre - reading tasks, such as a short quiz about common environmental problems (e.g., matching pictures of pollution types with their names: air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution). Also, review students' prior knowledge about environmental protection measures they learned before, like reducing waste and saving energy. This can activate students' existing knowledge and help them better engage with the new content.

Activity 2 Learning about the new language items
1. "Our planet is facing a series of environmental challenges, such as climate change, deforestation, and loss of biodiversity."
a series of 一系列;一连串。例如:The company has launched a series of new products this year.(这家公司今年推出了一系列新产品。)

Activity 4 Text reconstruction
1. Reconstruct the text by introducing environmental problems, their causes, and corresponding solutions. Students are required to use the new words and phrases learned. They can start with a general statement about the current environmental situation and then elaborate on specific problems and solutions.
2. Complete a short passage about environmental protection with blanks. For example:
