Teaching key and difficult points 1. Teaching focus Guide the students to choose the right story and adapt it into a short play. Help students master the elements of short play writing, such as plot, scene, characters and dialogue. Greetings and free talk Greet the students and have a short conversation about their favorite stories. Ask some questions like: “Have you ever read any interesting stories What are they ” 2. Review the stories in this unit Show some pictures related to the stories learned in this unit and ask students to recall the plots. Encourage students to retell the stories briefly in pairs. (二)Presentation (10 minutes) 1. Introduce the project Present the project task on the screen: “Create and perform a short play.” Explain the requirements and steps of the project to the students. 2. Choose a story Have students discuss in groups which story from this unit they think is the most interesting and would make an exciting play. Invite some groups to share their choices and reasons. 3. Analyze the example play Show the example play “The Fisherman and the Genie” on the screen. Guide students to analyze the elements of the play, such as scenes, characters, dialogues, and the use of past tense. (三)Group Work - Writing the Play (10 minutes) 1. Distribute worksheets Hand out worksheets with guiding questions to each group. The questions include: What happens in the scenes Where do they take place How many characters are there in each scene Who will be the narrator and who will play each character What will the characters say How will they say it 2. Start writing Students work together in groups to write their short play based on the chosen story and the guiding questions. Circulate around the classroom to offer help and guidance when needed. (四)Group Practice - Performing the Play (10 minutes) 1. Prepare for the performance Each group rehearses their play and decides on the narrator and actors. Encourage students to pay attention to their expressions, gestures, and voices. 2. Perform in class Invite each group to come to the front and perform their play one by one. The other students watch attentively and take notes. (五)Evaluation and Feedback (5 minutes) 1. Vote for the best performance After all the groups have performed, have the students vote for the best performance. They can consider factors such as the plot, the acting, the use of language, and the teamwork. 2. Give feedback Provide positive feedback and suggestions for improvement to each group. Acknowledge the efforts and creativity of all the students. (六)Summary and Homework (5 minutes) 1. Summary Summarize the key points of this lesson, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and creativity in creating and performing a short play. 2. Homework Ask students to revise and improve their plays based on the feedback and perform it again to their family or friends.
