Last week, the washing machine which I had used for five years stopped working. Without even trying to get it fixed. I thought about buying a new one with more functions (功能).
________. I remembered watching my grandma use an old-fashioned washing machine to wash my dirty clothes. This machine didn’t have a spin cycle (甩干模式), so grandma would squeeze out (挤出) every drop of water from each piece of clothing through a pair of rollers (滚轮).
After washing the clothes, grandma would pat (拍) the machine lovingly before hanging outside on the clothesline to dry. She grew up hand-washing clothes, so having a machine that did most of the work was once a wish for her.
Thinking back on this memory made me realize something important I have more luxuries (奢侈品) than my grandma, mom, and dad had when they were younger. Instead of focusing on modern-day problems, I should be thankful for what I have and who I am.
Remembering where we came from and how far we’ve come can help us treasure what we have today. Maybe someday we will look back on these moments as the good old days too. We should take a moment to treasure the little things in life. whether it’s a warm cup of tea or the sound of birds in the morning. It’s the simple things that make life worth (值得) living.
6. Which of the following can be put in ________
A. But I changed my mind soon B. It’s OK to wash clothes by hand
C. However, things were not like that D. I planned to give the old machine away
7. What childhood memory did the writer call back
A. Watching grandma wash clothes. B. Grandma’s hard days.
C. His experience of washing clothes. D. Nice days living with grandma.
8. Why did grandma pat the machine after washing clothes
A. Because the machine needed fixing.
B. Because she was thankful for having this machine.
C. Because she wanted to dry the clothes.
D Because the machine was too old.
9. In the end, the writer would probably ________.
A. buy a new washing machine B. sell his old machine online
C. wash all the clothes by hand D. get the old machine repaired
10. What would be the best title for the passage
A. Treasure New Things B. Life Is Worth Living
C. Remember Good Old Days D. Little Things Matter

What do you do when you’re angry Some people vent (发泄). They may shout or hit something to get their anger out. New research said that it doesn’t actually help. In fact, it might make things worse.
Sophie Kjaervik and Brad Bushman led the research. They looked at 154 studies including more than 10,000 people from more than 20 countries. The experts said the results were the same for people of all ages wherever they came from. “Angry people want to hit, kick or scream (踢或尖叫),” said Bushman. “But that doesn’t work. People say they feel better after, but this feeling just makes them more probably do it again.” He said venting is the worst thing you can do.
Kjaervik explained how they did their work. They collected research on anger and activities. And then they looked at the influences of different activities on people’s heart rate (心率) and anger.
The researchers found that activities like breathing and yoga (瑜伽) helped people relax. “We were surprised to find that all activities that calm down (使平静) your body are helpful in making people less angry,” said Kjaervik. So she gave some advice.
“People should calm down their breathing,” Kjaervik said. “This can be done by simply lying down and breathing slowly and deeply. Imagine your angry thoughts flying away on a cloud, and that should make you less angry.”
Bushman also gave advice on managing anger. He said that eating healthy food, like fruits and vegetables, can help. “To manage your anger, make sure you’ve had something to eat!” said Bushman.
根据材料内容选择最佳答案。

Healthy Habits Are Important
Good morning, everyone. I want to talk about healthy habits today.
In our class, some unhealthy habits are common. Many students skip breakfast, eat too much junk food, or drink sugary beverages. Some spend too much time sitting and rarely exercise. Others stay up late playing games, leading to poor sleep.
To stay healthy, we should eat more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains instead of junk food. Do at least 30 minutes of physical activity daily, like running or playing sports.
Healthy habits shape our future. Let’s make small changes today for a healthier tomorrow! Thank you!
