Xu Xiake is a famous traveler in the Ming Dynasty (朝代).
He started his great travel by visiting some places near his hometown. In 1613, he started from Zhejiang, and then visited Tiantai Mountain and Yandang Mountain. During the next few years, he traveled along the Changjiang River. He visited Yangzhou, Hangzhou and many other cities.
In January, 1637, he went to Hunan. He traveled south along the Xiangjiang River, and visited many places in the south of China like Guilin. In 1639, he got to the westernmost (最西边的) place in his life—Tengchong in Yunnan.
He met many difficulties during his journey, but he didn’t give up. Every time he met difficulties, he tried his best to solve (解决) them. He traveled to most places of China. He is really a great traveler.
