You are a nature lover Then you must visit Zhangye Geopark in China! It’s recognised by UNESCO as one of the best geoparks in the world. Here, you can see the beauty of the rainbow hills.
They are low hills that look like waves and have many different colours, just like a rainbow! There is little grass growing on the land. When you see the hills from above, it’s like you’re looking at rainbows painted on the ground.
You may wonder how these colourful hills came to be. Millions of years ago, this area was under a lake. Over time, rivers brought in sand and stones with different kinds of metal elements. These were left in layers on the bottom of the lake. Some layers were red, some yellow, and others turned purple or blue. Later, as the climate became colder and drier, the lake dried up. Then, something amazing happened! The underground land began to rise up and push against each other.
The layers of sandstone were lifted higher and higher. Through years of wind, sun, and rain, they formed the colourful hills we see today.
June to September is the most wonderful time to visit. The mornings and evenings are cooler than the hot days, giving you the perfect weather to enjoy the sunrises and sunsets. Sunshine after a summer rain will make the colours even brighter and more beautiful.

3 Show pictures explaining the formation of Yueya Spring. The fact is that the geographic features around it, especially the Mingsha Mountain, keep it from being covered by sand in the desert. And the groundwater keeps it from drying up. That’s what makes the Spring special.
Scene Action Voice-over
4 Show the text “Vote for Yueya Spring” on the screen. Music out. And for this reason, we believe that Yueya Spring is the best choice and should be added to the Natural Wonders of the World.

You may have heard of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, which includes the Great Wall of China, but have you heard of the Seven Wonders of Nature In a commonly used list, the seven most amazing creations of nature are the Northern Lights, the Grand Canyon, Parícutin Volcano, Guanabara Bay, the Great Barrier Reef, Mosi-oa-Tunya Falls and Mount Qomolangma. This list was created to encourage people to discover and protect the beauty of our planet. The best way to enjoy these natural wonders is to visit them in person. But you can also get a good idea of the scenery by watching videos.
It’s recognised by UNESCO as one of the best geoparks in the world.
It’s recognised by
There is little grass growing on the land.
There was little doubt in my mind.
growing on the land
When you see the hills from above, it’s like you are looking at rainbows painted on the ground.
painted on the ground
You may wonder how these colourful hills came to be.
Have you ever wondered why the sky is blue
The small town came to be a famous attraction after the discovery of the wonderful scenery nearby.
Over time, rivers brought in sand and stones with different kinds of metal elements.
Over time, holes have formed in the rock.
Through years of wind, sun, and rain, they formed the colourful hills we see today.
定语从句 we see today 修饰 the colourful hills。
The mornings and evenings are cooler than the hot days, giving you the perfect weather to enjoy the sunrises and sunsets.
giving you …
The rain stopped, leaving the air fresh and clean.
The Sahara Desert is recognised as the largest hot desert in the world.

Hello, everyone! Welcome to the Great Barrier Reef! Before we start our diving trip, I’d like to tell you some facts about this reef. Many people think this is one large reef, but in fact, the Great Barrier Reef is made up of thousands of reefs. But we still call it the Great Barrier Reef, not the Great Barrier Reefs.
Is it true you can see the reef from space
Yes, it’s true.
Wow! That’s amazing! I’ll tell everyone about this back home.
The Great Barrier Reef is so huge. It’s home to about 400 kinds of coral.
I heard that global warming can make the coral appear white.
That’s right. When the water is too warm, corals lose their colours and turn white. Some of the coral reefs you will see are dead.

Many people think this is one large reef, but in fact, the Great Barrier Reef is made up of thousands of reefs.
be made up of 由……构成
Is it true you can see the Reef from space
the Reef 指代前文提及的 the Great Barrier Reef。
I’ll tell everyone about this back home.
It’s home to about 400 kinds of coral.
此处 home 意为动植物的“生息地;栖息地;产地”,常见搭配是 be the home of 或 be home to。
When the water is too warm, corals lose their colours and turn white.
