Have you ever seen subway cars full of elderly people with baskets filled with vegetables How do you feel if you share the same crowded subway car with those vegetable sellers
Recently, Subway Line 4 in Chongqing is crowded with elderly vegetable sellers at certain times. The vegetables are carried in all kinds of beilous—bamboo baskets. People call Subway Line 4 beilou zhuanxian, or the basket special.
“Such beilous could easily hurt the image (形象) of the city,” said some local people. They tried to ask the Chongqing Metro to control those passengers with large beilous during rush hours. Their beilous take up much space in such a small area and block (阻碍) other passengers.
It sounds reasonable, but “No!” was the answer from the subway management. They argued that, as long as the passengers’ behavior and their beilous are in order, they will certainly be allowed. And for those elderly vegetable sellers, we should give them more respect! We also respect other laborers (劳动者) who take the subway!
They went on to explain that if subway cars were being polluted by the smell or liquid (液体) from vegetables, cleaners would rush to clean up as soon as possible.
To make these special passengers with heavy baskets check in soon, some stations open five minutes earlier, so as to avoid blocking other passengers.
Local farmers used to sell their farm produce only near their villages. Mr. Feng, a vegetable farmer, and his wife used to spend more than an hour getting downtown by taking several buses. With the help of Line 4, the time is cut in half, and they can sell vegetables downtown at a higher price, and faster. All subway lines are created to provide convenience for all people. Because of beilou zhuanxian, Chongqing has become a more beautiful and more popular city.

①Opens earlier. ②Runs more subway lines.
③Does the cleaning as soon as possible. ④Works longer for them.
A. ①③ B. ①② C. ②③ D. ③④
29. If Mr. Feng and his wife catch Subway Line 4 at 6:30 a. m., when may they get downtown
A. At about 6: 50 a. m. B. At about 7: 10 a. m.
C. At about 7: 50 a. m. D. At about 8: 30 a. m.

【答案】例文
Dear Miss Li,
I have known that you are looking for volunteers for the Chengdu 2025 World Games. I would like to help to spread Chinese culture as a volunteer.
I am good at speaking English and have learned a lot from our school’s culture club. What’s more, I am strong in communicating with others. I want to help others out as a volunteer because it lets me do what I love to do and help others at the same time. As we all know, “The roses in her hand, the flavor in mine.” Besides, I can learn how to look after myself and others by volunteering. I can not only help people in need, but also improve my abilities.
From the bottom of my heart, I want to get this job. I hope you can offer me the chance. If I am chosen, I am sure I will be a good volunteer. I’m looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua
